@hawkins

I've actually seen people try what you just described. I generally insist that we finish the rest of this combat before testing for panic, though in secret i wonder if i could justify killing this man as a delayed abortion.
On the plus side, if he's trying to screw you, he is probably losing, so cheers!

"seeing how your attacks just whiffed, your probably going to need to take more than one panic check anyway."

I think the main problem with the last example is rolling dice out of sight. I always roll out in the middle of the table, away from models and terrain to avoid collisions. If a die rolls to a position difficult for my opponent to see, I'll give him an opportunity to lean around and take a look before I touch it.

*That* seems to be the primary abuse here...

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Not quite. i ment to say, not so much as out of sight as hard to see. before you can count how many hits or misses apperently the opponents were picking up the dice. either way, the 'house rule' as some people call it helps to cut down on that abuse and out right cheating, and as it was clarified to me by one of our rules gurus, im passing it on as previous posts commented on it.

i would definitly call shenanagins on that....in my games friendly or otherwise i make it clear that any dice rolled must be witnessed, and verified (so give your opponent time to count for themselves) either by the other player or a nuetral third party, because often people miss a hit or accidently grab a miss, or mix up on the required roll. having a second set of eyes to verify keeps things honest. if you cant see the dice roll we often pick up terrain or the like to see, and if required rerolling anything that could be considered cocked or simaler. rolling "out of sight" or in a hard to see area then quickly picking up your "hits" or remebering a forgotten panic check to gain free rerolls is blatent cheating and is punishable by being loaded into catapult as per orc ammo. or at the very least forfieting the game.

THe easiest way to avoid that is you pick up *failed* rolls - that way if you accidentally pick up a sucess, well tough - however as the number of dice get smaller it is easier to spot if you are leaving, accidentally or not, any failed rolls behind.

Got taught that the first game at my LFGS, and the immediate logic of it amazed me that i hadnt thought of it before...

its amazing how many people fail to grasp the simple concept of basic logic. its like a unicorn....plain as day once you see it, but dang near impossible to see unless you know what to look for or have someone else point it out. "hereeees your sign"

you smoke at your wedding.
go to a family reunion to meet girls.
look at your belt buckle to remember your name.
have not so much a family tree as a family bush.
mow your lawn and find your car.
