Don't worry MOD me and GBF know each other. The regular gt guys gave me that nick name since I'm only 16, so don't give him too much trouble for it.

And Thanks Steve!

Oh man, I need to hang out with you guys more...

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

More good stuff Nick! I am kinda confused about how deadshane deployed... was he central, or thanks to his wall of guys was he really spread out, allowing for outflankers to hit his line earlier. Also, did the spore pods kill anything all game with the s5 large blast or s6 shots? Finally, how far back (or how close) were you deepstriking the flyrant?

I'll post up reports a little later in the week when things quieten down. But yes, the last game went from what should have been a straightforward win to a horrible loss thanks to Damien's ability to roll 6's on command to spawn 4 models in 2 turns.

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

We are not to discuss my abyssmal performance this weekend, much less our third round matchup yermom!

(I look forward to a rematch in the future!)

I had fun nevertheless despite my poor performance. No sportsmanship scores at this tournament and a definate lack of douchebaggery by my opponents, good games all around with no rules issues noted.

Ill be sure not to bring up about how you did this weekend, but I do look forward to a rematch deadshane.

Anywho Round 4
Opponent- space puppies
Mission- there were 5 objectives each placed 12" apart on the centeer line, 4 points for holding 1 2 points for contesting 1.
Deployment- pitched battle

His list
Logan Grimnar

Njal

10 terminaters- 2 cyclone missles a bunch of other weapons

10 terminaters- 2 cyclone missles a bunch of other weapons

5 long fangs- 4 missles

5 long fangs- 4 misslies

6 long fangs- 5 multi meltas

My initial impression was that was way too much fire power for me to handle, but the table we were assigned was filled with are terrain everywhere, so I might have a chance.

I win the roll for first and take it. Death leaper gives njal -3 ld and stealers are out flanking. I deployed with my 2 tervies the flyrant the gants and 1 trygon in the center behind some trees and another trygon off to the side. He deployed straigh accross the center with his termiea in a line and long fangs in back.

My Turn 1
flyrant moves up behind some rocks and takes pot shots and does nothing. rest of my army moves up but stays in cover. 1 of the tervies casts satalyst on the flyrant to save him from the missles. Gants move up with the flyrant.

His Turn 1
He moves up and shoots EVERYTHING at the flyrant and only does 2 wounds.

My Turn 2
the zoanthropes come in and try to put some small templates on the long fangs but cant get many through njal's ability, but the pods kill like 2 form the multi melta squad. The tyrant fails to cast paroxysm on njal's unit and he charges in with the 2 gants squads. He focuses on Njal and kills him, and the gants do something ridiculous like 9 wounds but dont kill anyone. then the gants and tyrant die. the rest of my army moveed up still in or behind cover.

His turn 2
logan detaches and charges 2 zoans and a missle long fang squad charges 2 zoans. He shoots 8 missles and like 12 storm bolters at a trygon who had a acover save and kills it due to bad rolls.

My Turn 3
My tervies poop out close to 30 gants and only 1 rolls doubles and between that and a trygon charging kill all but 2 termies from njal's unit. stealers outflank and grab objectives.

His turn 3
Here comes the pain... His other termie unit charges the gants and between swings and combat rez he gets my trygon down to 2 or something and wipes the gants. my trygon finished his 2 man squad.

My turn 4
I try to pull it of again and charge 2 tervies and 14 more gants into the combat and he wipes the gants again I kill maybe 4 termies and then lose 1 terbvigon with the other going down to 1 and the trygon somehow at one also.

His turn 4
Logan goes on a rampage after finally killing the zoanthropes and charges into combat. After all is said and done Logan in down to 1 wound and my gants trygon and tervigon are dead. His long fangs try to kill stealeers but they go to ground.

My turn 5
Deathleaper whose been popping in and out come in and contests an objective from behind a rock.

His Turn 5
he kills off 1 stealer squad with shooting and brings the other to 1 man and congo lines his termies to grab 2 objectives and moves his long fangs to contest another.

So it ends him getting a 10 and me getting a 6, pretty much knocking us both out for whatever chance we had for coming in top 2 or even general.

Next round apparently gt winning mech eldar!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Round 5 (fyi I'm on table 6)
Opponent- Mech eldar
Mission- capture and control, capturing your opponents objective was primary
kill points secondary
holding your own objective was tertiary
Deployment- pitched battle

He put his objective in the center of his deplyment zone and I put mine on the left flank of minein some trees.

His list
Farseer- bunch of stuff

5 fire dragons

10 dire avengers
wave serpant

10 dire avengers
wave serpant

10 guardians
waveserpant

7 path finders

7 path finders

fire prism- holo fields

fire prism NO HOLO FIELDS

falcon- holo fields

*non of his tanks have spirit stones

He won the roll for first and took it, which IMO wasa mistake being that it was an objective mission. So he deployed everything centrally ready to shoot me as I walked accross the table. So in responce I reserved everything. Stuff was deep striking, out flanking, and walking on. His path finders decided to outflank

deathleaper gave his farseer -3 ld!

His turn 1
he boosted towards the flank that had my objective

My turn 1
...

His turn 2
he covered the side of the board which my objetive was on making it impossible to outflank.

My turn 2
I get the out flanking tervie, both trygons, the flyrant, both zoan units and 1 gant unit. The tyrant and trygon go in the middle of that flank about 9 inches form his tanks. the other trygon deep strikes closer to his board edge on that flank. The tervie showed up on the other side of the table and made a run for his objective.the gants came on right in front of one of his tanks with dire avengers in it. the zoanthropes podded in, 1 landed on my objective the other scattered closer to where my tyrant was. the zoantrhopes immobilize the wave serpant right in front of the gants and then the gants charge blocking the access point.

His turn 3
his fire dragons unload and 1 shot my tyrant. his fire prism moves 12 inches sideways going to contest his objective (no holo field prism) the guardians unload and kill 9 gants so 1 is still blocking the access point. the path finders come on and run for my objective.

My turn 3
deathleaper hides on the other end of the table more gants come on and sit on my objective and shoot at his guardians who fled. the stealers come on 1 on each side, the one on the side that matters charged a fire prism with fields and do nothing and the guardians killing a few, but they stay. 1 trygon charges the fire dragons and kills them the other charges a wave serpant and stuns it. The zoanthropes stun the falcon.

His turn 4
He kills the one gant blocking his access point and move his prism onto his objective.

My turn 4
tervigon comes in and charges the wave serpant thats immobilized and blows it up he tries to cast catayst but fails by 4 stupid runes of warding. I keep stunning tanks I blow up one of his empty serpants. the tervigon that was going for his objective is almost there.

His turn 5
he moves onto his objective with the prism. ranger claim mine he blows up the pod contesting it. dire avengers get out and 60 shots later we have no wounds dealt to the tervigon

My turn 5
I make babies and have them charge the rangers. deathleaper pops up nextr to the rangers and contests my objective. my tervigon going for his objective poops out gants and they all charge the prism but do nothing. I blow up all his tanks except for that prism and his falcon. Trygon also charges some dire avengers and they flee and terviie charges the other squad but they hold.

his turn 6
theres not much he can do but just hope it ends soon and i dont blow up his prism or kill his pathfinders.

My turn 6
tervie poops out more gants to charrge the path finders and between them and the deathe leaper i claim my own objective. my tervie over on his objective poops out 14 more babies who all charge 46 gant attacks later like 8 hit 1 glance and 6! It's immoblized at I5 so the tervie I2 suto hits it! and yeah he blows it up.

I get primary secondary and tertiary which give me 21 to his 1 which was to get an hq withen 6 inches of the enemy objective (farseer in falcon).

I finish with 80 out of 110 for battle points, 13 out of 20 for painting and 1 out of 20 for comp.

With that I come in 3rd best general. Not bad all things considered I'd say.

So let me make a quick analysis of my list, being that previous to this tournament I had only played it against guard and orks.

Hive tyrant- Is he worth 310 is probably the big question. My answer, no, he will almo+st never even come close to killing that much. BUT +1 to reserves is good and paroxysm can be priceless at times. The devourers also give me just the element of range I need. Another thing is that a swarm lord would do great! Rerolling out flank could have been sick in my 5th game, and he combat potential he has probably would have won me games 1 and 4. That said, the out flanking tervigon is priceless in capture and control, or if you NEED to crush a flank like in game 3. Also without wings he's just too slow to compete with the flyrant in games where I use the reserve tactic, like in games 3 and 5.

conclusion- The tyrant is staying. He won me 7 points in game 2 on his own. If I were to trade him out it would be for a swarmlord, since parxysm and reserve bonus in completely and utterly priceless. And, in games 3 and 5 his ability to allow a tervigon to outflank was priceless, since it won me both games, a swarm would not have done that.

Deathleaper- He won my first 2 games for me with his contest ability, not to mention how much he saved me against the eldar player or njal. Doom might have killed some stuff in round 1 and 3 and maybe even 4,but deathleaper is just too good. I was iffy about him before, but he is now going to be in every tournament list I make.

Zoans in pods- they were zoans in pods, the give synapse which I foten needed and shadow in the warp. Time and time again their 3++ proved tremendous as a tar pit unit. They will NOT be switched to hive guard. Just look at the diference they made in round 3 hive guard would never be in range and I would've lost 2 more monstrous creatures.

gants- they're gants use 'emright and they win games. For 50 points each I would never switch them out.

Stealers- I am unsure about toxin sacs, but it could be since I played 3 T3 based armies. They're staying if for nothing more than scoring outflanking units that can grab 3+ covers. They are always a decent addition to any list.

Tervigon- PRICELESS. There was not one game which I could have pulled off without them. In higher point games I'm grabbing a third and more gants instead of the stealers!

Trygons- phenominal, every game they did something game changing. They are the anchor to my force, and they give me exactly what I need to stand up to armies in combat!

Very interesting on the tervigons. I definitely think they are pretty much clutch in a no kill (essentially) environment. However, if you play in a tournament that uses regular kill points you end up either A. pooping out free kill points or B. not pooping at all, which makes them not as amazing.

Don't get me wrong. They are awesome, I just think that taking more than 1 when you're playing kill points is putting a lot of points into something that is meh. Do you agree? Or are two clutch even if you were in kill point missions?

I also think you'd find the podding zoanthropes to be lacking if you were giving up the freebie kill point for both pods vs hive guard though you'd need 1 unit for AV 14.

I do like your list though. Do you think fitting in a unit of 25 upgraded gargoyles would be helpful in exchange for a trygon? They can screen your tyrant and give him a much better chance to survive, as well as do nasty things to a lot of units with preferred enemy. If I remember correctly 20 of them do something like 25 wounds to T4 with preferred enemy at I5. Add on paraox and it just gets nastier.

EDIT: Oh and I do think you need the outflanking stealers. They punish your enemy if he decides to go on the flanks and helps you get to him. I think sacs are definitely worth it though, since it's about 1 more stealer or sacs, and sacs allow you to tackle MCs and roll more rends against MEQs

GBF- I really liked the loganwing list too.

Cheesesteak- Yeah we deffinitely will! It would be a great expierience getting down there again, and we might just come down for the gladiator tournament you're having also.

The tervigons should only poop out, if you're fighting something that needs weight of attacks to fight, 2 capture objectives, or to screen. Yes having 2 tervigons is somewhat of a handicap in a KP mission, but it's worth it just for objective missions which about 80% of games you will win because of your tervigons.

I haven't yet tried out gargoyles, but they are good at what gants do already. Which is forcing tons of save. A trygon accomplishes the roll of anti tank, mobile monstrous creature, which enough combat ability to wipe a unit of non TH SS termies.

I ran that list. I can zap you the exact list if you like. My termi weapon loadouts were not the best. But, their funky configs helped when I took a dual charge from 2x5 dual claw black templar termis, emp champ, and GK hero charge and only lost 10 of the 20 termis from 37 wounds. Wiped him in return.

I was thinking of dropping on of the rocket longfangs for some plasma cannon ones or maybe a suped up scout squad. I had problems with FnP and oblits in the tournament. Plus the 5 objective scenarios really hurt me with the lack of mobility.

I have even thought of just dropping the longfangs totally and adding 10 more termies and a wolf priest. Other than guard or a razorwolf list , not many can kill 33 termies.

Yermon, thanks for the write up. What really hurt against you was the gaunt overkill wounds that put free wounds on your big guys. I popped your tyrant that way.

I think your eldar opponent purposely left out some of the better eldar upgrades to get a high comp score. Which he did. I think he had a 16. But he still got to table 6 without an optimal eldar list. He just didnt have the much needed CC to counter your big guys. 4 wnds are hard enough to get rid of, but 6 is nearly impossible.

GBF, we played back in '07 I think at the Necro when you played your 13th comp.

hmmm... i'm not saying your list (either one) is OP but i can't fathom what scoring technique was used to judge these armies. i'm a fan of using comp at tournies but i can't for the life of me see how your army is 10x less cheesy than the OP's nid one.

Not understanding this.

Is it because the stealers ate them before you got to re-roll the wounds??
