METAL!!

Erm, I'm not sure that our mold would survive the heat, and the shipping cost would be insane!!

Not to mention, resin is heavy enough as it is.

Plus, pewter just -LOVES- to chip while you paint it. So that awesome sword you just did, or that huge freehanded mural on that dude's cape, is now ruined because some of the paint flaked off from a strong gust of wind before you were done and prepped for sealing.

Well you would need to use a different mould. I was under the impression that it was just the 5-6 fingers that you put around a foam egg. Is that the price of the first full looking one?

Stormin' Stompa

The master-model was indeed made by adding 6 fingers to a foam egg and then building the "skin" in greenstuff.
The model sold is cast entirely in resin. A foam core has been added to keep both cost and weight down.

The price is for the closed full looking one.
Shown here in Hivefleet Leviathan colourscheme.

Eh, I'm less excited now...$24 instead of $18, and $12 shipping = no sale. Damn near $40 for just a single pod.

We are sorry to hear that.
We realize that it is never nice to expect one price and then later be given another. Unfortunately the production costs didn't match our estimates.
The shipping was always going to be added to the cost of course.
We are sorry to lose your business.

It's mainly just the shipping cost that ruins it for me, I hate paying half the cost of the item to get it shipped. I realize there isn't much that can be done about that, though.

How much do you think you will be paying GW for this then?

Well S&H will allways be a pain. The less snail mail, the higher price to keep it running.

As Steelmage99 said: We do apologize for the price bump, but considering that you still only pay $24 compared to recent ventures by others in the range of $45, we still believe it to be reasonable.

We do hope that you will consider our products in the future, if not for the coolness factor!....Well we think its a cool model anyway!!

I still have doubts that they'll actually release a model.

That is what it boils down to.

If GW wont produce a model for it, and gamers don't want to make or convert one and they really must have one or two or three then its a sellers market.

Smaller runs will incur a higher price, natch. Opportunistic modelers will start to cash in as well.

Honestly, I think the model is pretty terrible.

I don't understand how you can charge 24 dollars for it, compared to some other efforts out there at the moment - or just scratch building one.

A couple of claws around foam? Seriously?

Yes, seriously!

Oh wait you must refer to the Work In Progress pictures...pity.

A painted version of the final product is pictured a few posts up - go check it out.

And the price, well we 're cutting the cost where we can, an unlike some huge company we all love and hate, for the benefit of the gamer, not our business.

But thanks for watching.

No, I've seen the full model. The texture of the skin is inconsistent and sloppy, and overall the quality is amateurish compared to other GWS models. It doesn't fit in witht he visual aesthetic of the rest of the Nid army.

Well, I see your point and we will have one painted up for you in a less blurry paintscheme.

As for inconsistent and amateurish - I don't model or sculpt for a living, so yes that makes me an amateur - and this is my first large scale model sculpted from scratch...I'll take no offense in that at all.

I/We and 99% of the feedback thinks it fits nicely with visual concept of nid army, however due to obvious IP entanglements we cannot produce a model that either uses or leans to heavy into GW Tyranid concept art or IP.

What we offer, is a nice tabletop quality model, that doesn't need assembly and is reasonaly priced.

I do hope that our open spore pod will satisfy you better, when we have it ready - we hope to have a more photo worthy mastermodel by the end of the week, but these things take time.

Lastly, I hope you didn't see my reply as flame or an attempt to start a heated discussion, your input is quite welcome and will definately be taken into consideration on our future designs.

I am a long time Tyranid player and this drop pod fits perfectly into my army. It has less bling than other sculpts, but that is okay for something that just entered the atmosphere. My favorite drop pod design so far. Although I am a fan of Navarro's work and wait for his version

However, this is a great substitute, pretty cheap (except for shipping but that isn't your fault) and looks great!

Yeah, I think its a great model for the constraints you're working with but that paint scheme is definitely not doing you guys any favors. The interior color (near-white) almost makes it LOOK like styrafoam, even on the final painted model. It think if you painted up an example that used a less-light color on the interior pod it would make the model look better overall.

Just my 2 cents...

Ok then, We've painted one up in Steelmage99's hive fleet pattern.

Now I must admit, that while this paint scheme looks great on smaller models, it kinda lets the big boy down. Anyways I hope that it will show some of the detail better than the last one.

...And the yellow is in no way easter related
