I usually run a five man TH/SS Termie Squad in my Vulkan list. I roll all seperately. I grab a big handful of dice and then roll two dice (three if asaulting) for each model in little individual piles. Doesn't take any time at all and makes it all proper.

What is bias about the poll? Which direction is the bias?

Steelmage I was exagerating about the half hour assault phases. But maybe it would be an issue, I'm just more concerned about sitting there for 5-10 minutes while my opponent works out his attacks. Sounds pretty boring, unless we make all BA players by loads of different coloured dice?

You are implying that following the rules makes you a dick who drags the game on too long and is making life un-easy for both players.

I'll break the RAW to make life easier for myself and my opponent. I will allow Hammernators to roll all their attacks together and re-roll exactly 10 misses. This will mean that the Hammernators will gain the advantage of always getting 10 re-rolls even though some may well hit with all their attacks (particularly if they are not on the charge so only have 2 attacks each). This is an obvious advantage to them but not a critical one and life is too short to spend that long rolling for each models attacks individually.

Phrasing your two poll options to start by saying that one is RAW and the other is breaking the rules is not usually the best way to get an unbiased sample.

Looks like there's been some good discussion so far, but the poll itself looks more designed to push an opinion than to gather data.

That is the arguement behind that oppinion. The other option clearly states what is the rules and how doing anything differently gives an unfair advantage to an already great unit. Both options argue their case one option exists as a time save and makes life easier the other option is what the rules tell you to do gives no unfair advantage but does take longer.

Look at this post he appears to feel I'm bias in the oposite direction:

As I've illustrated it is bias in both directions as both options highlight their strengths and the others weaknesses. It's called showing both sides of the arguement and is thus not bias...

I don't see how this poll is biased. It's not titled "What is the Correct Way to Roll To-Hit Dice for Hammernators" it's titled "How Do You Play Vulkan Hammernators."

In my opinion both polls were written in a biased fashion, both declaring authoritatively that one of the options was the correct by-the-rules way to play it, and that another was not.

That said, this thread has largely been comprised of constructive discussion, whereas the other descended into bickering more quickly. Please don't drag this one down as well, even if the initial poll was flawed.

Well Gwar is arguing it is bias in the opposite direction which I think illustrates the poll is balanced as I only have 2 people claiming it bias and both saying it is bias in opposite directions...

The point is how do you play do you foot slog through what is the rules. I don't see how anyone could argue the rules are anything different (and no one has) or do you try a quick fix that makes what is already a powerful unit get yet another advantage.

It appears most people are of the oppinion you pick that unit you have to roll those dice. Which is fair enough it's probably what I'd play and certainly what I voted (I've only come across small units of Hammernators so far in Vulkan builds), though I must admit with a full unit of 10 against me unless it was a critical combat I'd probably let him use method B simply because I don't have the patience... Not sure what I'll do against a 20 Sanguine guard army.

IMO it might be worthwhile to shoot for a more neutral phrasing on a poll, at least if your intention is actually to get people's opinions.

Cut a bunch of semi-topical argument that's really beside the point of the thread. If people want to give feedback to the OP re: the validity of the poll, that's reasonable, as long as it's done politely. Arguing back and forth about issues not directly related to the rules question is not necessary or appropriate. No warnings being handed out today. It's only Monday and I'm not as crispy from work as I was last Friday night.

Fair enough but I also want an informed debate so wanted to point out both sides of the argument rather than people glancing quickly and deciding before realising the other side of the argument. Which has happened on other polls and I myself have done before.

By giving as full an account of both sides of the argument I could at the start of the poll I was hoping (and from the responses Gwar's asside seem to have acheived) resonable responses.

Both Option A and Option B are bias to that option. that way people can hopefully fully gauge the poll before responding.

Interesting that non of Gwar's "semi-topical" posts were cut out.

Edit: That's not entirely true. But the posts that derailed the thread are still intact (when they're obviously referring to his other poll in the thread that was locked.)

Option A. I used to play as option B until I actually thought about it and realised that I was gaining an unfair advantage. It's an absolute pain in the ass rolling all those dice separately though!
