Nagash, without a doubt. He's pretty much the only character to achieve immortality through perseverance, ruthlessness, intelligence, and innovation, and did it without prostrating himself before any gods either (unlike various Chaos champions/daemon princes).

Nope, sigmar was just a guy with a big gold chunk on a stick. Then he became emperor somehow... and then he died.
Ulric, on the other hand, is a god.

Sigmar is pretty boring... Especially considering that other than a few little bits here and there he pretty much contributes nothing to the fluff, other than being a generic non-manifesting a physical presence and slaughtering the unfaithful graphically type-god. Really he should take tips from the chaos gods and add physical blessings to his repertoire.

I think Festus the Leechlord has some pretty compelling background. But my current favourite is Malakai Makaisson, the mad dwarf inventor.

I think Slugtounge is a hillarious concept.

He waves his hand at grass and trees and they die, and he can summon a swarm of locusts by talking. Yeah.

My personal favorite? Sigvald. Shame he is so terribly overcosted, and backwards rule-wise in this rulebook for Chaos. He's the only LD10 army general, but he has an ability that specifically lets him seperate himself and his unit from the rest of the unit. What?

I also like Drycha's Treeman boyfriend, he is so old that he have forgotten more than anyone can learn.

although I like quite a few of the Empire's heroes, my favorite is probably the current emperor Karl Franz.

Not only is he an accomplished diplomat, a competent ruler and a fearsome warrior...but I can't shake the nagging feeling that the skaven daggers found where Valten fell is a little "too convenient..."

and I like a bit of ruthlessness in my statesmen.

Only because she got the most annoying, lieing, cheating 14 year old got banned by his mom from the FLGS. She saw the naked model and forbid him to play it anymore!

Normally this would suck as losing players is bad, but this kid lied about rules, cheated and various other things just to win... There was much rejoicing that day!

What a nice story! You can just assume so much, perhaps unfairly, about the character of the mother when she doesn't let her kid play anymore, not for lying and cheating but for touching tin boobies.

Greasus Goldtooth and the reasons are threefold:

I just wanted to ask where the rules for that guy are. I read about him in the Ogre Army book but don't see any stats.

My favorite special character has got to be Skrag the Slaughterer though. Gorgers are awesome, and he makes them more so. Not that he's a slouch himself.

I still find Tyrion, Defender of Ulthuan to be one of my favorite fantasy models. His rules aren't terrible either, though he's certainly outclassed by his twin brother, at least in the current meta-game.

Yes he is overpriced for what he does, but the ability to hide in an enemy unit and assassinate one of the models and pop out is awesome... Now if they only made him less points or stronger so he was field able.

Hmmm. I've been following fantasy for about 15 years or so now....so many characters to choose from.

No empire. I never liked them, i've never seen a model to come out for them or story line that will ever convince me otherwise.

Id say Abhorrash or Grimgor. Gork in the flesh, and as far as warhammer fluff goes, the only vampire to ever conquer his blood thirst by slaying an ancient dragon and drinking its blood. Both pretty bad ass to me.

I'd say Malus darkblade as well. Never liked his model much, but i've read the books and all, and he's pretty awesome. ultimate underdog who ends up on top in the end! Granted i got tired of the whole tz'arkan thing. He's in, he's out etc..always coming back for more.

Favorite character? That would have to go to Malekith simply due to his sheer force of will to overcome anything, even his own common sense. The elven senate says you're too bloodthirsty? They must be Chaos worshipers, kill them all! Flames of the Phoenix burns you? Must've been because of conspirators tainting the flames, kill them all! Calling upon the forces of Dark Magic to utterly destroy your homeland and something goes wrong? Must've been because those dirty High Elves did something. Kill them all!
