Yea, I would say .357 max for even a vindicator or LR type, and even that is a tad large for my Baneblade's demolisher cannon. A .225 would probably do for a Baneblade cannon, though I don't have one handy to test.
More on topic, those are some dead awesome little shells. Just one of those "Wow, that is so tiny and detailed!" things. Very well done.

Amazing and such tiny detail, I think I will have to pick some of these up for my shotgun guard squads. Then I can make some in the process of loading them.
Turning them into a belt feed should not be too hard, two layers of very thin greenstuff should hold them securely enough.
Actually I think I would really have to have them on hand to decide that, I see that they are tiny but can not picture it in perspective.
I third the ammo belt request.

Wow...I've played with resin casting, and to reproduce something that small, with such detail for its' size, in quantity...
Very impressive.
(Oh, and I concur... .22 brass is appropriate for "normal" tanks, start going any larger, like .32, .38 or above, and you're getting into Titan scale, or Superheavy at least...)

Gotta say I love the idea of these bitz. I plan on ordering several of each type of these really spruce up my bases.
On the subject of bolters and casings though even in fluff bolters have them, the round is basicly a 2 stage rocket the first explosive charge functions like a normal balistic projectile giving the bolters their "BANG". Now the 2nd stage is where the whole rocket propelled bit comes in, midway down the barrel the 2nd charge ignites and how the round goes from balistic to missile as it is now being propelled by a small rocket. There have been several real life attempts at this but the usual result is innacureate and inneficcient.
