Oh its a cool model for sure.

The critical stuff is more about the outraging price and the fact that the tank made by the same person is an 90% illegal recast theft so it begs to wonder how much stuff in that model is illegal as well...
Not saying it is but I wouldnt be surprised the least if parts on it were direct FW ripoffs.

Besides, they could price that pod at something more humane then a hundred freaking bucks, especially when the average nig pod used will need 3-5 of them!

Can I ask you to stay fair and not spread false and discrediting information?

1.) There is no outraging price for the breeder up to now, as there is NO price known.
2.) As everyone can check, you state a false price for the pod.
3.) Calling the price for a high quality, highly detailed, small run resin model for a niche market outraging and inhumane, just because not every Tyranid player can afford a set of 3-5 is clearly over the top and not acceptable. There is no human right that everyone must be able to afford a DKoK army and there is no human right that everyone must be able to afford 3-5 of these pods. IIRC the Blue Table Painting Pods also started at a price of 90 $ (now 50$ http://bluetablepainting.blogspot.com/2010/03/alien-seed-pods.html ).

I've certainly seen some straight re-casts from this seller (old armourcast titan weapons being the obvious example).

But the one transaction I had with them went fine (even with some issues they resolved for me).

And I´m not the only one. As far as I know a LOT of people complain about the huge FW prices for example and untill GW released the cheaper drop pod I could count pod users with 5+ pods on the fingers of one of my hands.

Its nothing wrong with charging 100 bucks for one pod per se, just in my opinion its insane as I happen to know how much it actually costs to cast one up.
If GW pay 10$ for a BA box sprue cast and sell it to you for 90$ then you to would say that is insane.

I never said it was copied, I said that based on other illegal recasts from the same seller it wouldnt surprise me if ths one to used recasts.
There is nothng wrong with that, on the contrary, if a vendor has a history in selling ripoffs then he should also expect people to comment on this and maybe even be a little reserved about wether other products are ripoffs too.
Dont complain to me for showing normal human reactions and dont tell me that Im outright lying, I never said it WAS a recast.

This I took from another thread on another casting board where this very same tank was shot down by GW for using GW bitz recast. It was quite some time ago now and again it is up for sale by the same seller. Thus my reaction.
Now if he just shows a pic of it but only sells the few (and they are few let me assure you) original non recast pieces then it is another thing but in the original thread it was pointed out exactly whar parts of this tank were in fact illegal recasts and it was not much that wasnt red flagged.

So if you buy it and ONLY get the original pieces then bummer dude, you aint getting much plastic there.

Close concept copy is far from illegal recast.

What is you beef with me being worried with it using recast pieces (and thus being illegal) based on another product being illegal?
There is nothing wrong with that.
And in case you wonder why I worry its because I just decided to start a nid army and am thinking of buying that breeder mini but I wouldnt want to shell out the "possible" humongous price for it based on the pods price AND I wouldnt want to end up with something that "might" be illegal to sell in the first place since I myself pay good money to make sure that the pads, rhino kits and jump packs I myself sell are in fact legal.

That sound fair enough?

I said I would be morally ambiguous to order from someone who has sold obvious recast (past present future). If that is hostility, then I guess I need a new dictionary.

How about the material costs of a book and its price in a book store? The pod clearly has more detail than all others on the market (even if personally I prefer a simpler model). This involves conceptual and sculpting work that should be paid. Garage kits are always more expensive as they have very low runs. As a sculptor yourself, you should acknowledge that not only the caster and resin provider should be paid, but the intellectual work and sculpting as well.

But let us agree that both pod and breeder do not involve any recasts of GW/FW parts (I checked, please check yourself) and are both obviously very original concepts.

Though both models ARE overpriced, it wont stop people buying it. Overpriced models will stop certain people buying them, but not others. Its like forgeworld armies are more for serious collecters, its jsut the way things are.

For those whose dont know, none of those parts have been re-cast from origional GW items.
All have been scratch built, then cast.

Price isnt an issue, the quality speaks for its self here.

TBH, i love both models and am tempted to make an order now my money has been paid in .





On a side note: Drop the argument
All chap. house sculpters make close copies of models / parts too (i have to add that they are great quality and price )
Its called going in for proffit.
See something that is popular and capitalize on it.
Boneswords, pods and tervigon proxies all fit into these catagories

The minis from this sculpter are really cool, but probably no less illigal than Chapterhouse stuff. Obviously people are going to want to make money off the back of GW, and for the pot to call the kettle black is quite entertaining.

That is a gorgous model, and to be fair what the guy did with other models has little to pertain to this one. Now I won't buy one just because I don't know what I would do with it, but it is a sleek sexy model, and I think the prices for the quality are more then reasonable. Resin by in large is cheap to manufacture and produce, but this guy isn't doing this for the goodness of his heart he is doing this to make a solid profit, because anyone knows in the gamming industry as a sculptor time+materials seldom equats to a ton of money in the end. I think a good quality product at a fair price is well deserved and if you like it cool, if not then no need to be rude or in some cases just jelous.

IMO as a businessman, the seller might do a lot better to put the pod out at maybe $30/£20 than $100/£60.

There is already competition in the Spore Pod arena, also it is not hard to make an OK pod yourself, but for £20 why bother if you can buy a nice ready made one.

My gut feeling is that by reducing the price to 1/3rd, the sculptor can probably sell more than 3x as many copies, and make a bigger profit.

If the Pod is $100 the "Alien spawning beast" will surely be more as it is a more complex and detailed model.

My intention with this thread was to introduce people to a talented new sculptor in Russia (Grishnak) and his fine new miniatures usable for Tyranid players.

The result is that the ebay-store of the caster (Velard) is now suspended and under investigation, while there is nothing illegal about the two featured products and 99.4% positive feedback by about 1000 customers.

There was no hate or negative feelings in similar threads on Warseer and Warpshadow from which the information was taken, just appreciation of the work. So I didn't see that coming.

I apologize if by my enthusiasm I enabled others to prevent this model from being produced and sold. Let's see how things turn out, but this is not a happy moment for me.
