Oh and Finnlock, You've given me an idea with your RL templar, going to try freehand some little imp eagles and templar symbols on my pads / scrolls or something,. woo

Nice - might try and take a leaf from your book and use more highlights - usually rely on washes to much. I just started painting after a ten year lapse too. amazing how a little maturity improves painting technique. I'm getting a little bundle of old school space marines (corvus 'beakies') off ebay soon - will have a look at the same tutorial you used. Thankyou, more power to your painting arm

WOW.......

This thread and the epicness it has bestoyed upon me has re-kindled my love of the black and white crusaders ^^

Oh, and pardon my idiodicy, I'm sure you've allready told us which video you watched to paint your Templars, but could you tell us again?
Some of us *me* are kinda slowed and and can't find stuff like that to save our *my* lives ^^

Oh, and I just thought that i would say that i too prefer the more dramatic highlighting, it realy makes eveything stand out, and would look perfect on the table.

^^

Tempblack - Still looking good, from what I've found out for you, Cell-shading is the art of colouring in a non-photorealistic fashion. For animations it is used to produce a hand-drawn style that mimics that of comics and graphic novels.

Thanks guys, it's surprisingly motivating to keep me painting with the nice comments

Lazzurus - I watched a bunch of Lbursly "awesome paint job" vids. I nearly started pumping out imperial fists as he paints a really nice looking one. but there's a certain draw to the knightly feel of the templars I couldnt resist His video of the black templar does fairly light highlighting, but you can substitute some of the other chapters he paints just with greys

also saw a fellow dakkadakka guy do a really cool looking templar terminator using a normal marine head and tabard chestpiece from the upgrade kit which was really helpful. If i can find the thread i'll post it up (I think it's book marked at work or on my ipad ) that pretty much guided most of the style I did

let me look around
