Had a few kids walk by my dead pile during an intense game at my local GW. It was fun Big Bugs vs Big Bugs in 4th edition. Our dead pile was an empty table next to us, and a crowd of people were watching.

Had a few kids play around with a few of the models, I told them to stop. They persisted, which caused me to move my dead pile onto the playing field. Noticed I was missing a carnifex, looked around. Then I called out the managers name like "Hey Dave, can you help me find my carnifex!"

Fex appeared on painted table in about a minute.

the last tournament i played on we had everyone display thier armies before the game for painting purposes. numerous people had random models "grow legs" including a few of my nobs. they never were located, although when we started keeping an eye on the kids coming to look every 10 minutes they stopped coming over. ive also head of people leaving thier case of models in a store to go for lunch, and the case vanishes. one of my buddies lost his very nicely painted - damn near golden daemon quality chaos marines army that way. otherwise the only time ive caught someone stealing from me was a kid about 12-14 tried to pocket one of my dark eldar warriors. it poked him in the leg and he cried... when we asked what was wrong he pulled the model back out and stated something along the lines of "the pointy guy poked my leg".... stupid thiefs should have to wear signs.

The first store I hung out at, Comics Plus, was REALLY bad for having people steal your stuff. I'd have stuff stolen off the table if I turned around frequently. Once had some blisters I'd purchased but not yet opened taken out of my box when I wasn't looking, and put back on the rack. The best was when someone grabbed one of my smallish hard plastic cases, and somehow managed to drop it on the professionally painted army of one of the store employees. Only time the employees seemed to care about the theft.

They later moved and were sold and became Regal something. I went in the store once, and found out they'd hired a couple of the worst thieves. I found a MUCH better store, refused to buy anything from them ever again, much less go to the store, and advocated that no one else go there either. They went out of business a couple years ago and I did the happy dance.

Well, if this thread has tought me anything, it's 'don't play in stores - stay at home!"

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

never had a mini or army stolen... but at adepticon a couple years back some F*ck*r took my jacket...

It was cold... my jacket was fake suede... weather proof... probably 4 years old ... had the sleeves redone once since they frayed... but I liked it...

I used to store my figures in old PC cases, card with foam lining, was stupid enough to leave them in my car on display and some scrote broke into the car and stole the lot. Lost about £1600 of figures (and this is going back about 12 years). Damn near broke my heart and made me dropout of the hobby all together!

Now I'm much more carefull, but never lost anything at Warhammer World.

Dice however, a consumable item, loose so many over the years, but have hundreds so just chalk it up and move on.

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

Only my cats steal my miniatures, but I eventually find them, horribly chewed up and covered in dust bunnies. Of course, mostly they steal mutants and plague zombies, so they're still perfectly serviceable!

I used to play weekends at our FLGS and literally had at least 1 model walk away every time, from my case, from my casualty pile, etc......

Now I never play weekends....it sucks but hey what can you do.....at the end of the day Karma will come back to them...

...urrrr... I dunno

Never had anything stolen from me personally, but we had some oik come into our local store one time and try to make off with a tactical squad box set. Our manager (an ex-TA sergeant) hit the bloody roof after he caught him red-handed.

I've only had some LotR Goblins stolen, but since I had spare goblins it didn't realy matter so much. The only 40k model that was nearly stolen was my unpainted Chaos Sorcerer conversion. Thankfuly one of my friends noticed it was missing and found it on another gaming table near the front of the store. The model now safely resides on display in a glass cabinet at my local GW.

I seem to lose dice all the time but karma always seems to give me new ones. As for templates one of my friends has 6 or 7 of each so even though i have lost mine there are always spares which I can use.

No stealing has occured in my FLGS in my four years, phew! These horror stories have driven me to keep an extra eye on my minis, so those who have had their armies stolen, not all for a loss, I am sure I am not the only one here who has changed how they protect their miniatures.

I believe some dirt-baggy kids stole from the money box once, which caused the owner to sell the drinks up front, instead of a leave a dollar take a drink deal. For shame, the scumbag always talks about dealing drugs and what not, and how he hacks on CoD, him and his tool friends always get wiped out at least.
