what about a commander with a jump pack and thunder hammer for noodling armour, and he can be fluff wise the captain who checks in on all front line troops and reports back when comms are down.

With all those sniper rifles you haven't really got anything that can take down squads of approaching infantry once they're within rapid fire range.
4 sniper rifles = 4 dead enemy. In an ork squad of 30 that leaves 26 still standing.....
Add in maybe 3 more dead to missile launcher and that's 23 still able to assault you....


On the first issue, I'd have to disagree... I can't set the Speeders up aggressively at the front of deployment hoping for first turn... If I don't get first turn then I can scout move into safety (cover)... and if I do then I can scout move forward. My turn I can move again, fire the MM, disembark, fire a combi-melta and then even assault with Meltabombs if anything is still standing. What's the problem?

On the second point, yeah I agree. There's not a lot of scope there to deal with hordes.... but I guess I can't have everything!

Well be sure you have a fallback option to re-arrange your army if you do face a horde.

Consider taking something like a Predator with Heavy Bolter Sponsons. only 85 points.

Keep it in cover and you have an infantry killer that people will have a hard time killing if you keep its front armour at them

That's actually an excellent idea. It'd mean the librarian (if I choose him) wouldn't be able to have terminator armour and a storm shield... but it would be more useful. Now, if I can just fit it in with the fluff...

Don't bother with storm shield for librarian if he's in terminator armour. you get the 2+ and 5+ invulnerable save anyway.

Let me see if i can get your list to a "take on more comers" shape...

That's actually quite a lot of Dakka for a 750pt list. Interesting! I shall definitely have a think about it, cheers :-)

When it comes to hordes try the LSS with heavy flamer. If the Sarge has a fist you can nail armour in CC even without the combi-melta (I've had 2 squad blow up 3 Leman Russs battle tanks in turn 1 in CC). With Scout BS the Multimelta isn't a great option and Landraiders aside you should lay the smack down on anything else in CC anyway. That way when the LSS has a heavy flamer and you face off against hordes. Say he's got 2 units of 25 termagaunts and you hit 9 with the Heavy flamers here's the maths on how the combat goes:

9 hits = 7.5 Dead Termagaunts
5 BP shots = 1.77 Dead Termagants.

Thus we are looking at 9 dead gaunts before combat, so that's 16 facing off against 5 Scouts. Then:

12 Attacks = 6 hits = 4 more dead Termagants.

But 16 attacks = 8 hits = 2.66 wounds = 1.33 dead scouts, so 1 dead scout.

Then 3 attacks 2 hits 2 more dead Termagants. Who lose combat by 5 so 4 more dead Termagants. Now it is 6 Termagants vs 4 Scouts...

Horde dealt with those 2 units should have thus wiped out 50 bodies from the enemy army in Turn 1 assaults...
