I frequently go through quitting gamesworkshop for no other reason than i get bored quickly.

then, months or years later, i'll stumble across a box of unbuilt zombies (that suprisingly has happened twice) and i'd be dragged kicking and screaming back into the hobby.

I can certainly see me quitting the game side, but probably never the painting/building part of my hobby.

I could also see me quitting GeeDubya. That's it though.

Waaay too many cool miniatures out there for me to paint for me to ever consider quitting the painting, especially now that I think that I am getting good at painting. Maybe not GD level but hey, who knows? Maybe one day.

Well, I added up everything I have bought from GW since 1997 and I came up with over 10 grand USD and that is just the stuff I bought and not the stuff people have bought me for gifts. My Orks are over 3 grand and growing so far.

Yeah, I'm starting to the get to the point where, while I can afford a $50 toy tank, I'm starting to feel bad about myself for buying $50 toy tanks, especially when I buy 3 (or more) of them.

This is my situation exactly. After this has happened about 5 times in 15 years, I've just come to the conclusion that every 6 months or so, I'll go from miniatures (moslty 40k) to LEGO, and then in another six months I'll spend 4 months building or tinkering with my electric basses, and then Ill go back to miniatures for another 6 months...

In the midst of my LEGO or Bass Building, it's easy to assume that I'll never go back to miniature gaming, but I always come back. That said, one thing I'm, pretty sure of is that I'm cutting back on the buying-GW part of my miniatures hobby for a while. It's just too expensive, and there are too many other great miniatures out there.

Leaving GW and its tribe of clone fanbois behind me in my dust - definitely.

There is more to my hobby than merely GWs products.

I have thought about it before but then what would I do lol? I love competeing and the painting and building is fun a change from mindless hours on the computer playing TF2. One day I suppose but won't be anytime soon I love the Project too much.

I'm hoping this is the hobby that finally sticks. I have a tendency to get very involved in something to the point of obsession and then drop it and never pick it up again. Especially if I am terrible at it. With this, I am pretty good at the painting, but the putting stuff together is giving me fits right now. I've never gamed, and I am fairly nervous about that, but I'll get over that I think once I start. This appeals to me because it is a real life hobby and not one that is connected to the computer.

Ahem...

Judging from your avatar, I think I have a good guess as to what you've "weened" yourself onto instead of GW......

I could see quitting, but it would have to be after something very, very strenuous that just made me not care anymore. At the end of the day, they are only plastic models, nothing more.

I'll have you know I've enjoyed being into pr0n and women for many, many, many years before I even knew about GW.

Easily. Time is a resource just like anything else. If I found something better to do with my time I wouldn't hesitate to ditch for that.

Ive taken breaks from this hobby, the longest started for 2 reasons. I didnt have the money to keep going, as well ass the main person I played at the time moved out of the country. But then I got a good job, and instead of getting back into this hobby, I got hooked on off roading and mud bogging, so that took my time and money for over a year.

But I just cant leave this hobby, I love it. Painting is good fun and very rewarding, playing is just a blast, and being able to think up cool conversions is just the tits. Some times people just fall out of love with things they love doing, it happens, so dont get upset when you see someone quitting or leaving the hobby, they will probably come back to it eventually.

Eh if I quit it would be the end of my table top war gaming, none of the other games seem worthwhile and in my opinion GW makes the best looking models out of them all though some do have good models GW just happens to have more of them.

Well, I can easily see myself getting away from the hobby for a couple of years, but I anticipate that I would return as soon as life circumstances would allow. I think I will probably hold on to any and all minis I paint, that way I can play different game systems as I please.

I could quit GW, I couldn't quit modeling and painting. GW pricing and horrible rule sets could easily chase me away. Happily there are lots of alternatives in the modeling painting field and I already don't game that often anymore. If 6th ed 40K really blows, it might just be the end of GW for me.

I won't sell my armies though, I have friends who are still into GW and it is fun to get a game in every now and then. Nice that I still have an army or two around so I can play.

I could never ever ever never ever leave the hobby, i would only leave if i was only a torso, as if i was only a head I'd put my brain into a dread and live on in the game, even if I can't move, so make me a torso or I'll keep going.

Just when I think I'm close to quitting all it takes is my weekly dose of D6G/Iron Agenda/Dice Like Thunder/Podhammer/40k Radio to get interested... although its been roughly a year since I've ever done any modeling and even longer since I've played anything
