This is generally true for the following reasons:

1. To kill Nobz, people either a) mass firepower at them
........................................b) shoot High strength, low AP like meltas at them
2. Therefore, you are likely to be attacked by bolters and their equivalents, which can't penetrate 4+ armour (but you get FNP anyway)
3. Or you will be attacked with meltaguns, which would ignore both the armour and the FNP!

The armour is not very cost effective, especially as it will be of little use in almost any situation! I would only buy the armour if I had a lot of extra points to spare.

i play against IG and SM usually, and i always take a nob squad kitted out with some PK's and the rest big choppas.

1, you should try to make room for a nob unit because their transport makes the enemy pretty much oblivious to anything else.

2, they usually win the combat in one round, on the charge or not. Against termis maybe a bit longer but still.

and i also find 2 PKs can do the job of about 6 big choppas. im not saying having an uber expensive unit of nobs with only PKs, but certainly have a few

Just to add my two €0.02:

Slugga Boys: Essentially a Power Claw with 12 Bonus Wounds. Anything Extra is a bonus.

Nobs: Never take more than 33% Power Klaws.

Stikkbomb Chukka: Useless in 99.99999999999% of cases.
Stikkbombs: Useless in only 99% of cases, though once they won me a game. Had Stikkbombs for the lulz, charged and stunned an empty Chimera. Since it didn't move, next turn I autohit with my Stikkbombs (since I wasn't able to hurt it with S3 attacks) and rolled like Zeus himself was rolling and glanced it to death, meaning he didn't Tank Shock out to contest an objective, meaning I won!

Especially when you consider that the Cybork (youre taking that painboy right?!) costs the same...I used to always run w heavy armor and then my nobz met termies and banshees...at least the cybork gives me a chance!

Bah it's only 50 points to kit your 10 nobs with 'eavy armor. Orks can afford 50 points. My nob units never leave home without 'eavy armor, cybork and fnp.

Just for the recored. Stikkbomb Chukkas give them Frag Grenades for that turn if they assault... Now what's the differewnce between a boy on the charge and some Stikkbombs?

Well I can certainly see how that unit would be much harder to kill...maybe when I get to the 1850 level...but at 1500 i cant afford both...

+1 for cybork and FNP.

these 2 a standard and then they always get some kind of save.

Eavy armour makes them a bit better if you have the pts to spare though. Not hard to find those pts but they're not essential.

Yea still going to disagree. Its too easy for most armies to have an ap4 shot hit you. Ive learned by doing that your just wasting 50pts most the time. Sure sometimes "OH MY GOD I get to use the normal armor save" but that didnt happen very often. If Im going to piss points away Id rather it be on something more useful then maybe getting a 4+ armor save. Hell thats 2 PK somewhere in your army, thats a gun upgrade on a vehicle, thats alot of things. Getting a 5+inv and a 4+ FNP is really better and more cost efficient then sometimes a 4+ save 4+FNP, why? Because if you dont get that armor save, guess what? Your getting that 5+/4+, but you paid 50pts more.

Why would you do that? I laugh when people answer with "oh you can afford it" Sure I can afford it, I can afford taking 10 PK in a nobz mob too.

50pts? nearly 3 kannonz, nearly 3 buggies, 1 kan, 1 deffkopta, 2 pk-s, 2 bikes, 8 boyz, 3 lootaz.

50pts buys you a hell of a lot of stuff in an ork army, a lot of which is better than a slightly improved save for nobz.
