You'll want to buy WH/DH just to be sure, because the rules in the pdfs are incomplete.

Until the GK and SoB codices are both released, however, allies are here to stay. This wasn't an update, it was just a courtesy release-- they didn't want to print any more copies so they uploaded it for us instead.

Oh, I already own them. I was just worried from all the "HA! No Allies for YOU!" talk on here and other places...

A lot of tournaments banned allies anyway, because of the skewed perception TOs often have about balance. But outside of tournaments most people I've played with (not all...) don't care.

I dont understand how people can say that the NEWEST revision is not the version you need to use? Who cares if its a PDF.. I had to use the BA pdf for YEARS because.. its the newest version of a codex

Thats like using a 3rd ed b ook instead of 5th ed because it has rules that favor you more.. Even the same book has multiple revisions (Necron codex has about 3 different versions for instance)

If GW makes a new version of the codex it should be used, as its the most recent. Like it or not, thats how its always been. Now, if the digital version has a misprint or an error thats something different. GW needs to make that known or simply spend 2 mins fixing it

Because the "newest version" is incomplete and not an actual codex.

This is not a new version, it's just them uploading portions of the current version because they don't want to print any more.

what are we going to do? What 99.9% of us who didn't use allies anyways have been doing this whole time. Leafblower made =I= a popular fad again, but it was never necessary.

I liked the idea of allies, even if I never used them myself. I hope that when the new codex comes out, they have some way of reinserting certain units back into guard armies, at least for the flavor they can add, army-fluff-wise.

OK, so I guess I'll just take 10 land raiders as a 2500 points army then, since there's no FOC left telling me that I can't. See what I'm getting at?

In this context, it's absolutely broken. Guard is already the best dex out there without the DS protection. Oh no, maybe IG players will have to learn how to abrogate DS the good old fashioned way.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Considering 95% of Guard players don't use allies to begin with, I doubt there will be a problem. They'll still kick your ass.

I can count on one hand the number of guard armies I've played against in tournies that didn't have Inquisitor allies. Either the tarot or mystics or both.

Taking this away is good. Give Daemons a chance in hell and also limits the alpha strike potential of an IG army. Hell it limits the alpha strike of space wolves too which is a good thing.

The FOC is in the main rulebook. Every army adheres to the same one. But it was a good try KDS.

Then by your logic grey knights have no special rules what so ever?
