You're right. Who better to teach respect than a convicted criminal hired as a crossing guard at a school?

Jesus pal wake up.

We made fun of teachers too when I was a kid, but never to their faces. We knew better.

How much respect are you supposed to give to a fat crossing guard with a criminal record?

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I'd say a lot

Could you be there

'cause I'm the one who waits for you

Or are you unforgiven too?

Way on back in the deep caves

If the kid had been taught respect at home, he would not have been verbally abusing, and eventually provoking the crossing guard.

Really, because the only thing the crossing guard could think to do was assault the kid, and now he's in a whole lot more trouble than the kid will ever be.

Provoking? The feth?

Being a stupid teenager is not enough to provoke a full grown adult into assault. It takes a very incompetent adult to find his only response is physical violence.

He was prolly flashing back to all the antics he got up to in the big house, where he was referred to as "fat fish" by Leroy and his crew.

Agreed. (even though it's fun to mock the kid who lucked out and didn't run into someone really dangerous)
sebster:   How much respect are you supposed to give to a fat crossing guard with a criminal record?
The same respect you give any individual.
Belphegor (me):
Criminal history can equate to as little as shop lifting in your early twenties during a rough spot or creating tag art on an abandoned building.
A history of criminal violence would be applicable information to report, not "a criminal history".

sebster:   Uhh, it said "with a criminal history of assault" in the article.
My previous comment was more directed towards the reaction of blanket dismissal of anyone with a criminal history.

The one thing to remember is that stupidity is often in-grained and that Darwinism is a bitch...

If this kid continues to allow his mouth to write checks his body can't cash then nature will sort things out before too long.

He was lucky this crossing guard showed some restraint.

People that habitually do what this kid did will eventually cross someone with homicidal tendencies and end up sporting a toe tag...

Meanwhile, this thread is ridiculous. Kids will make smart arse comments. Capable, adults will deal with this in adult ways. This guy was not a capable member of society, so he freaked out and assaulted a 14 year old kid. This ignored so that people on the internet can say "hurr kid done got beat".

Yea those "hurr kid done got beat" guys are probably fat themselves

Those same "hurr kid done got beat" guys would probably stop that scene though as well. Or at least I like to think so since a 6'4", 200 pound man assaulting a 14 year old kid must be a pretty pathetic thing to watch. Doesn't fit in the internet tough guy mold.

14 year olds can be as big as the 6 4 guy. It'd be humrous to watch the smackdown. Adult vs. child, thats different. Thats Kimber time.

What the guy did was inexcusable. That goes without saying.

However all one has to do is read newspapers, police blotters or watch tv/cable news on a regular basis to know that the world is filled with people who do far worse to people for far less.

People pull guns over a scuff on their shoes or a funny look at a traffic light. People don't always throw punches, sometimes they have knives, and sometimes once enraged a person can take a street scuffle way too far...

The world isn't the same as it once was. People are very prone to escalate even simple altercations to life threatening violence.

This kid was lucky that his own ignorance didn't get himself killed.

Amen. Nice to see the old man's still got it.

200 lbs for 6' 4"? 175 is right on for 6', so another 25 lbs for 4" height is reasonable. Hell, he's probably on the lean side for his height and age.
