Regardless of "issue" people have with the numbering system. These bags are the best hobby bags available to us right now. I have seen the bags that friends own and used them when borrowing army's since then I cant wait until I get my own which will be soon I am just waiting to figure out what size bag I need to fit minis in. I do however wish that I could get the old 1520 at this point though because it fits my needs better especially now that you can get the wheels for it.

I don't think anybody has lost site. If you read everybody's comments, they're more advisory than complaining. You're marketing an XL product that's smaller than the original. It's that simple.
Battlefoam has enjoyed tremendous success on the strength of it's products and the drive of it's marketing. In terms of Public Relations, however, you guys could use a hand. This is the sort of gaffe, that when added to the other stuff, makes it easy for people to paint your company in a very unflattering light. It's easy when you have the best product in the market to not worry about PR, but gamers are a fickle lot, and somebody might catch up to you, and then it's goodwill that carries companies.

P.S. Polonius - I can no longer be mad at you for any comments you make. I just noticed you are from Cleveland my home town. I grew up on W.69th and Detroit Ave. I visit Cleveland at least 3 times a year to visit family.
Next time I am in town we should get a game in. You may hate me now, but you will really dislike me once my Green Tide comes to Cleveland. By green tide I mean Orks.

Romeo, you don't seem to be reading what I'm saying. I don't hate you, in fact unless I'm mistaken most of my comments have made it clear that I'm a huge fan of your product.

So is a number system really the best system to be using to identify them, then?
Strikes me as rather confusing to be naming a customisable storage system based on the number of models it can possibly hold in one particular configuration.

I also noticed that the original 1520 is no longer on the website for ordering. With the new bag only able to be pre-ordered, how would someone order an original version of the 1520 for an imediate need. Or for those gamers who would rather have the original model.
As for the numbering system, it's what everyone is used to but still, the newer additions are being named something different. Ie..P.A.C.K. Plus. The 1520 is close enough to the base model of the original that most people will associate it with the original version.

Cyporiean - Its $25.00 and can be found on the site under the new products section.
Artsoldier35 - Many retailers still have the 1520 so just a quick look around the net should land you one. We currently do not have any plans on bringing the older version back out. I would look at Miniature Market, Bitz Box and places like that if your LFGS does not have them in stock.

Rome just got to say i love the products!!!! I recently ordered a 750 and 1520 from you to fit my tyranids, space marine and guard armies while i have to pull double use for my rhinos and chimeras do to my budget you have here a guy who will stand by your product 110% especially after seeing my bull dog puppy drag the 1520 across my house with me close behind laughing!! After placeing all my figs in the bag i realized that i need a few more trays for some of the more dramaticly posed models and my speeders and bikes. And i'm totally picking up some of the expansions bags so my nids can fit into the 720 instead of the bottom of the 1850. Sorry for wall o text on the cell typing this

Romeo, the new 1520 states it holds 18" of foam, then says the inside holds 20" max capacity. Is the 18" the maximum ammount of foam including the 1/4" bottoms for each tray? Or is it 20" with all the 1/4" added?
Looking to place an order but want to plan the number of trays.

This reminds me of the settlement I got with my 2004 Toyota Matrix XRS. The 2003 model was 180hp. The 2004 model had the exhaust system changed a bit and it was reduced to 173hp. Toyota didn't update their literature and the 180hp number stuck around. I'm not sure if there was a suit, but there was enough rumbling that Toyota sent owners of the 2004 models checks for $100.

It really is pretty simple: anybody that thinks the 1520 XL holds more models than the 1520 clearly didn't read the description, because the names of products are usually pretty loosely related to their attributes. So, anybody that makes that mistake is pretty dumb. As a savvy consumer, I know when a manufacturer adds "XL" to a product name, it pretty much always means "read the fine print, because we've made it smaller."

The arguments here are so Silly.
The old cadian troop box says cadian shock troops and has 20 models, the new update is called cadian shock troops and has 10 models. same name but half the minis. we all know what we are getting because of the pictures and desciption. what is the point here? its a cheaper bag and and holds less than the previous (wow big surprise there) the name is synonymous with being a large bag series I hardly see how wrong it its.
I like battlefoam bags and wish I can buy them but since the postage to australia is so expensive I prefer to buy the tactical back pack and 2 GW cases from malestrom

Not really a valid comparison.
If the Cadian box was called 'The Cadian 20' and it was generally understood that the '20' refers to the number of models in the box... and then the box changed to 10 models but kept the same name, you would have a more appropriate comparison.
Although in this case, it appears that it's actually more like a box called 'The Cadian 20' that can actually come with a variable number of models, that is changed to hold a lower (but still variable) number of models...
The number is meaningless, which ( IMO) makes it confusing and unnecessary. It would be better to simply call it an 'XL' bag or somesuch, and state an approximate capacity in the description.

I actually have a legit question, romeo!
I currently have a pack 1520. There are times when I kinda want a bag thats a BIT bigger than the top, yet smaller than the bottom (my biker army, for example).
If I buy a pack PLUS, will it connect to the top half of my 1520? I'd imagine it would, but i'm not entirely sure.

Hey Romeo - I have a few questions about your products:
1a) Are you planning on offering your bags with different color choices (other than OD)? I'd like to have different colors for my different armies. Right now, I have four armies in four different Sabol bags (all black), and I need to open them to see what contents are inside.
1b) Alternatively, any change of custom designs / logos on the bags themselves? This would be a big selling point for me.
1c) I thought that I saw a picture with a "black-colored" C4 bag - is that available for purchase? Sorry, I don't remember where I saw the picture, so maybe I am mistaken.
2) The C4 bag on your website comes with a few foam choices, but "custom foam" is not one of them. However, I can purchase a C4 custom foam for $15 separately. Can I just order the C4 with custom foam together? I don't want the other foam options.
3) Does the X-Board come with a carrying case, (because it doesn't mention it on your site).
Thanks,
Mez

bingo. the whole point of the numbering scheme (instead of calling it simply the Battlefoam S-M-L-XL) is that the number is directly related to size and i'm sure the sheer number of models that the original 1520 can carry is a big selling point. to reduce the carrying capacity 18% and still give it the same size number is a bit disingenuous... to reduce it, classify it as the same number, and then add XL (abbreviation for extra large for those not familiar with american english) is worse. don't get me wrong, i think romeo makes a quality product and the battlefoam i've seen in person has been the highest quality foam and bag i've ever seen. the addition of the handle and pocket for display case are good ideas and the wheels/roller handle is pure win... but calling it the 1520XL when it's 18% smaller than the normal 1520 and then saying it can fit the same number of models (but maybe goblins or halflings instead of humans/orks, lol) is not my definition of honest labelling. i wouldn't have commented if he had just named it the 1400 or even 1520 Deluxe.. but 1520 XL? if someone took coke's 12oz can of cola and redesigned the can with a better pop-top and EZ-grip sides but it now only holds 10oz and is now called the Coke XL... you don't think people would mind? i simply think that it's a poor choice of labelling/marketing the new product.
Agreed on all counts. Maybe someone should sue them for false advertising....
I was very much considering buying one, but now that I know better....
It would be nice if they hadn't discontinued production of the original 1520 (I'm always on a quest for MOAR MODELS!!!)
Anyway, on another less controversial note, Sgt. Diablo, does your company offer custom foam in non-standard sizes? I need 14 inches of foam in a size of 13"x25", noone makes anything remotely near that, and even by combining several trays I will still be losinga couple inches of space that could otherwise be possibly filled.

The thing is guys, the original 1520 is 2 bags, not just one. They connect to each other. would it really be so very different, if he sold the bag for $325, and it was a packaged deal of a pack PLUS and a pack 1520xl, and just offered the 1520xl separately for $275, the original price?

I have to chime in here. If he left the pack on top and called it the 1520xl then it would be fine as it would even more so resemble his previous selling bag and also would actually be an XL bag since it would hold more than previously. He could then sell the bottom bag alone and call it...1420. People know it doesn't hold as much and no potential legal problems.
Personally the only bag I'd consider would be the 720 since it zips all the way down. I genuinely was displeased with the original 1520 when I encountered it. My only problem is that the only reason to replace an old bag would be if I could travel with it and none of the bags are good airplane bags.

Hulksmash - I would take a look at the 432 as your airport solution. You can also check on the specific airline you fly with to see about the 720. I went from AZ to Chicago and back for Adepticon on Southwest and had my 720 with me the entire way. Nobody really gave it a second look but I would check with your specific carrier to be sure.
We have corrected the size of the 1520XL to its new official size of 22". Now you get 1 full compartment that has a total height of 22". You can also zip a P.A.C.K. Plus onto the top and get an additional 6 inches totalling your bag height to 28". This would carry close to 2000 space marine size models.
chaosOxomega - In one part of your post you tell people to sue us. In the second you ask for our help. Do you need foam, or do you need legal advise? I would love to help you with foam and we do the kind of work you are asking for. If your looking to sue us for false advertising then I don't really know how to help.
Mezmaron - 1. As of now we do not plan on releasing the bags in any other color. We do have a pretty cool surprise coming out for Christmas. Stay tuned.
2. Sorry, no on this one also. We can not do custom designs on the bag because embroidery is very expensive.
3. At one point we did offer Black C4's but we only made 200 of them and they sold out very quickly. We do not plan on making those again.
4. You can order custom foam for your C4 anytime with the custom tray creator. The cost is what is posted on the site.
5. The X-Board does come with a carrying bag that is included in each box. Also the new 1520 XL will have a specific set of pockets that hold the X-Board pieces.

@Diablo
As far as the 720 goes I think it's the perfect size for most of my armies but I don't want to limit my flight availability by my carry on luggage. As for the 432 it's just not big enough for most of my mech armies. 7.5" just doesn't do current mech armies well. Not saying I won't use your services for foam for my existing bags or that I won't pick up a 720 for local use. I'm just voicing my issues with your product as a travel bag.
