Hello guys,
We have a bunch of great things to talk about.
1. The new P.A.C.K. 432 is now in stock and ready to ship. We have changed the zipper for easy access and also updated the handle to be more rugged.
Check it out here.
http://battlefoam.com/catalog.php?item=8&catid=79&ret=catalog.php%3Fcategory%3D79
2. The new P.A.C.K. 1520 XL is up for pre-order. We again redesigned the bag to have wheels, a pull handle, and space for your X-Board.
All features we felt the big guy should have.
Check it out here.
http://battlefoam.com/catalog.php?item=9&catid=81&ret=catalog.php%3Fcategory%3D81
3. For the guys that have the old 1520 we now offer a very sturdy pull cart that attaches to the bag so you can get the feature of pulling the bag instead of always using it as a back pack.
Check it out here.
http://battlefoam.com/catalog.php?item=314&catid=96&ret=catalog.php%3Fcategory%3D96
4. The Malifaux bag is also available for Pre-Order and will ship next month.
Check it out here.
http://battlefoam.com/catalog.php?item=313&catid=95&ret=catalog.php%3Fcategory%3D95
5. Lastly we have the all new P.A.C.K. PLUS. This new addition to the Battle Foam Family offers the gamer the option to stack as many PLUS bags together as they need. You can use them as a space saver in the closet or you can stack a few on your new 1520 XL or old 1520. At only $55.00 it allows for limitless growth without breaking the bank.
Check it out here.
http://battlefoam.com/catalog.php?item=312&catid=94&ret=catalog.php%3Fcategory%3D94
And one last bit of green goodness. The Baggy's Brigade is just about to launch. We are testing the site for bugs right now and will have an official posting by the end of the weekend. Get ready for one of the cooler things to hit table top wargaming in some time. Best of all, its free.
Enjoy.

Cool beans, Romeo.
Quick question - it looks like stacking two Pluses should result in an object about the same size (and with about the same capacity) as the 720; that about right?

kinda close. The 720 fits about 12.5 inches of foam. The Plus bags each fit only 6 inches that totals 12. That may not seem like much but in a 720 you can get 11 one inch trays and in 2 stacked Plus bags only 10. That can mean 72 troops would not have a home. What you could do is zip a Plus onto the bottom of the 720 if you wanted to have a bit more space.

These look like more very nice bags.
I recently bought a Pack 720 for my FOW army, and the bag will carry way more stuff than the old trays I used for a different bag system.
My only concern is that there is a lot of stress placed on the fabric of the top of the bag and the zipper when you use the top handle to carry it. As the bag gets fuller, and heavier, I worry that the fabric will tear.
Maybe the answer would be to design a short carrying strap that goes from the 2 metal rings on the side instead of the shoulder strap?

Hi guys,
Oni - sorry buddy but we had to do it. The 432 is still a great bag but some customers wanted a different loading option. Think X-Box vs Slim X-Box. Still the same goodness but with a different look. (Ok and maybe a bit more hard drive space)
Cyporiean - Yes, the Plus bags can attach to everyone of our bags except the Warmachine and Hordes. We have something special for those coming out soon.
hoosierclyde - Do not worry about the weight issue. We have tested the bags to hold up to 150 LBS without problems. (Don't try that at home). Also remember that if your bag breaks because of manufacturing defects we replace it for life. Part of our 100% customer satisfaction policy.
MagickalMemories - What are you waiting for buddy? Maybe the customer appreciation sale on every Black Friday will push you over the hill. We hope you join us.

TobyDog - Yes, you are correct. The old version of the 1520 are available until supplies last. Retailers and some online stores still have them so get yours while they last.
Also you are correct that the top of the older 1520 will zip onto the top of the current 1520 XL.

The new PACK 1520 says that it holds 18" of foam.
The old PACK 1520 holds 22" of foam.
Are we missing something here or is the PACK 1520 holding less now? Is it a mistype?

good catch there. it doesn't look like a mistype. the dimensions of the old 1520 are
Bag Dimensions: 16W X 12L X 22H (The top section of bag will hold 8 inches of foam and the bottom section with hold 14 inches.)
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:ZSHSxBVpVXcJ:battlefoam.com/catalog.php%3Fitem%3D9+battlefoam+1520&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
while the new one is
Bag Dimensions: 16W X 12L X 18H
http://battlefoam.com/catalog.php?item=9&catid=81&ret=catalog.php%3Fcategory%3D81
while the additional outside pockets might be nice (as well as the wheels), it is misleading to call it the 1520 XL when it's actually SMALLER than the 1520. shouldn't the number go down as the case now holds less and the number was supposed to be related to the points or amount of figs it holds?

We have corrected the size of the 1520XL to its new official size of 22". Now you get 1 full compartment that has a total height of 22". You can also zip a P.A.C.K. Plus onto the top and get an additional 6 inches totalling your bag height to 28". This would carry close to 2000 space marine size models.

I don't have 1,520 infantry models to put into a PACK 1520, but I *do* have a bunch of transports, which completely fills up my PACK 1520 up to 22" with one of the 1" troop trays not being full. 4" of foam is a big deal. I'm not talking about 5,000+ points of army.....we're talking about my PACK 1520 being 22" of models (mostly vehicles) at 2,000 points. At 18", I can no longer fit a tournament army into a PACK 1520.
Do you plan on still selling the old ones? I'm not concerned about you taking off $30, I'm concerned about my armies no longer fitting into your carrying case; the only reason I haven't bought another one (for my orks) is because I was waiting for something more convenient than backpack straps for carrying....and so now we have wheels, but the case isn't big enough to hold an army anymore?
Keep in mind that this is a mechanized world. I didn't even get the 4" foam cutouts, I got the 3" ones so that I could scrimp and fit more in there.....at 18" of foam, with 4 raiders per tray, at 1850+ I have 13 vehicles. I have 14 raider spots, and the last one holds my dice cup, tape measure, tac template....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now my Ork army is much bigger than my Dark Eldar army, and this has just gone from "Pack my orks away" to "Pack a tournament list into my PACK1520."
My original purchase was fun in that I provided the models I had, the trays I'd need for it, but now I have to use a series of rectangles and circles on the custom tray maker to create my own trays (so says the woman I spoke to on the phone when I was looking into buying my second PACK 1520).
Rambling now, but really disappointed in the new format. Automatically Appended Next Post: Sgt Diablo wrote:
Lastly the name was more for tradition then function.

Any chance of getting more then 1 sale a year? I took advantage of the BF sale last year and was pleased with it (tho the DE get stuck in the bottome of the tray above it alot, lol) and would like to get some for my marines, but won't be able to afford a 1520 with foam, and cant slowly build it because of shipping. Bad time of year to get something for ones self as well, as most of my extra money is going to gifts for others.
Still planning on a 720 as a self birthday present, but that will only cover 4 of the 20+ trays I could use.

well, the new design of the 1520, if its $30 cheaper... just buy a 1520XL, and then buy a PLUS pack to attach to the top of it. You end up paying $325, but you get 24" of foam for models, plus the carrying handle and extra pockets the 1520XL offers.
1520 is not a specific promise of size, its just a number of models you can fit in it. And because models vary in size, its not really mis-representation, because you can probably fit 1520 grots into the new one easily.

Battle Foam Buys 40K Radio
From Spencer!
For the past few weeks many rumors have been spread about 40k Radio and Battle Foam partnering up. Well, the facts are in and the good news can be shared. Battle Foam LLC has reached an agreement with Spencer Harding to buy the show. Battle Foam LLC is the new owner of 40K Radio LLC. 40K Radio has been registered as a new Arizona based company and will be run by the good folks at Battle Foam. Look for amazing new content and two great hosts named George Miller and Rik Massei. Stayed in touch with all the latest news on www.40kradio.com.
On second thought, this might deserve a new thread.

Mostly? Need.
Right now, I just don't *need* it. I will, eventually, though... and that's when I'll swoop in like a hawk! : )
Also, with my temporarily limited space (Man-cave is currently under construction), the footprint of the 1520 (which is what I'll get) is too much right now
I will have a need for that Malifaux bag soon, though. So, I'll be grabbing up one of those eventually.
Sgt Diablo wrote:Dashofpepper - Come on, really. Would people really look at the number of the bag but not look at the size of the bag first.
Sadly, yes. Yes, they would, Buddy.
There are also plenty of *those* out there who would do their best to cause you trouble for it.
Of course, regardless of size, if there's away it'll hold those 1520 (which I believe you stated, based on that "1680" you posted), you're in the clear. Since 1520 refers to the # of minis it holds and not the physical size of the pack.

Now these troops are standing but they still fit. We can get 1680 of those inside the 1520 XL and we have for a few customers. I guess they should look at us mis-representing them because we gave them more for their money then they planned.
People can find fault with anything in life but if we all look at the good then maybe our day would be brighter.
Also, the XL is a catch all. XL means you can go extra large with more bags zipped on. So people actually get more bang for their money. Grap a Plus for your orks and you can fit 2 more inches then before. You win and you get to pull the bag, not put it on your shoulders.

You know this reminded me of a funny thing I saw on Top Gear where they said the numbers after the mustang represented the horsepower, like 500 or 300 but the funny thing was it was proven that these cars never reached those numbers at all, not a single one and infact they were usually 100 horsepower less. but ford kept it out of tradition and people didn't complain they were driving a 400hp car instead of the massive 500 that was proudly displayed all over their car.

Triple AAAARRRGGGHHH! I just got my P.A.C.K. 1520 and I love it. It holds all my army with some room left over. BUT, had I known this was coming out....I would have waited and purchased the new one for the very reasons you made it. The wheels, Collapsable handle, and one larger pocket.
I know how this stuff works but I was disappointed that You weren't able to let shoppers know something new was coming out as I was placing the order. this would have left the decision up to me whether I wanted to wait and see what the changes were or make my purchase. Even something as small as, "we are working on a new P.A.C.K. 1520. Would you like to delay your purchase?"
Happy but disappointed.

I'm not sure people literally expect the new 1520 to actually hold that many models, but I think most people would expect the new 1520 to hold as many models as the old one, which unless I've missed something it won't, due to having less foam.
I already have a 1520 that I love, so I don't' have a dog in the hunt, but Id' go with a new name for a bag that really has nothing in common with the old 1520 other than being the biggest in the range.
I'm with dash: I fill my current 1520, and I'm not taking that much more than a hard boys sized IG army already.

bingo. the whole point of the numbering scheme (instead of calling it simply the Battlefoam S-M-L-XL) is that the number is directly related to size and i'm sure the sheer number of models that the original 1520 can carry is a big selling point. to reduce the carrying capacity 18% and still give it the same size number is a bit disingenuous... to reduce it, classify it as the same number, and then add XL (abbreviation for extra large for those not familiar with american english) is worse. don't get me wrong, i think romeo makes a quality product and the battlefoam i've seen in person has been the highest quality foam and bag i've ever seen. the addition of the handle and pocket for display case are good ideas and the wheels/roller handle is pure win... but calling it the 1520XL when it's 18% smaller than the normal 1520 and then saying it can fit the same number of models (but maybe goblins or halflings instead of humans/orks, lol) is not my definition of honest labelling. i wouldn't have commented if he had just named it the 1400 or even 1520 Deluxe.. but 1520 XL? if someone took coke's 12oz can of cola and redesigned the can with a better pop-top and EZ-grip sides but it now only holds 10oz and is now called the Coke XL... you don't think people would mind? i simply think that it's a poor choice of labelling/marketing the new product.

There's always been some tension between the product that Battlefoam offers, which is first rate and well worth the money for any serious enthusiast, and the personality of the company. By that, I mean that while it's tough to dislike the product, it's quite possible to dislike the company or it's owners based on their conduct outside of production. I don't want to get into specifics, but this naming convention is another thing that makes the company look less reputable than it is.
