To be fair, the Metal DP is a better sculpt but the Plastic Kit comes with far more options which makes it better for conversions. That and you don't need to spend £5 for a pair of balrog wings since the kit comes with a pair.

I still prefer the metal sculpt.

For me...

Heads - no good.

Comically big hand options - no good.

Legs - no good.

I suppose for Fantasy, this one will work OK.

But for 40K, it doesn't compare to the old metal one.

Of course, being in plastic helps this one, but once again, a big miss and a lost opportunity for something 'special' and REALLY good, vs. 'just OK'.

I'll be keeping my lovingly converted old metal one. I see nothing in this new one that screams "Gotta have it."

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:

I dunno if it's just the sample pics, but it looks sorta cartoonish, everything is exaggarated...old metal prince is bit more menacing looking in subtle way.

Mr Vetock, give back my Multi-tracker!

I want to like the heads. I really do. But I suppose I could simply throw out the happy ones and paint the mean one so it's a little less comical.

That's the only part that really disappoints me. The heads.

The oversized arms look kind of silly, but I don't plan on using them anyway.

And I prefer these legs to the old Marine legs - these ones allow one to paint this fellow for a Chaos Daemons army, where an ascended Chaos Marine really has no place.

I honestly can't see where the problem is with him being "cartoony"

I would TOTALLY collect an anime themed army if there was one. (Tau maybe?)

then again, i kinda live for anime

You and everyone else!

On that note, it's not too hard to find another head. It's just a regular 'ball and socket' sort of head, so even an ork head would work. Personally, I'd like to use one of the bloodletter heads on it...Sort of. Maybe that's too small.

Im not a fan of the kit. It could have been so much better considering some of the new models they have been bringing out lately. GW seem to think that its ok to keep Chaos looking cartoon looking yet models like the Tyranids get to look all mean and evil like. The flesh on the models is smooth with hard lines and boring. The heads looks stupid\cartoony as said before. Good for conversions though. Not worth my money.

EDIT: deleted half of post. Didnt seem to post properly.

No.

Just no. Stay away from my Tau. People like you give people like me a bad reputation.

Yes, it's true, there are people in the world who play Tau for reasons besides their anime-esque battlesuits.

I hate anime, and I hate anime fans.

Like the way its been kept basic, no over crowding or useless junk thrown onto it.
Sure, detail is good, but this model will be converted to hell by people, and its allways nice to start on a blank canvas.

I rate it as the 2nd best prince model.
after of course, Azazel;

I never said i would be collecting tau. In fact, me mentioning it was just a simple joke.

I wouldn't collect tau because i don't like the fluff anyway.

Honestly, i even dislike the aesthetic of the Tau. Just because I'm an anime fan, doesn't mean i watch the stereotypical anime fan stuff like giant robots and such.

There is no need to be so hostile

But there is! Do you know how often people assume I'm an anime fan because I play Tau?! Do you know how irritating that is?

You don't! Because you like anime!

But it is! It's so damn irritating! Especially when anime fans really do play Tau, and they're all OMG CHIBI TAU IS SO KAWAII OLOLOLOL and I want to slap them for sounding like complete idiots and making me look like one in the process, because I happen to like the same 40k army they do.

Now if you're not like that, then that's all fine and dandy, then the hostility isn't directed at you.

SaintHazard...for you to type that out... you have to admit there is a tiny part of you that likes anime.

There shouldn't be any hostility at all...it's toy soldiers people

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I can definitely see why that would be frustrating (it frustrates the hell out of me when people assume that I'm a fan of the giant robot rubbish animes like Gundam)

Actually, anime fans like you are describing get on my nerves too.

In the end, it really comes down to people making shallow assumptions based off appearance, IMHO.

In a perfect world, maybe.
