Tanks. They take far to long, and I never can get them to look decent.

Grey knights, lots of work, lots of little details, all look the same and are fairly boaring in general.
that or Necron warriors, they all look exactly the same.

Starting to get tired of painting IG gunteams. I love painting Guardsmen, but getting around the gun and working on their crouching, bunched-up poses kind of gets to me. Of course this could be circumvented by painting them off the base and gluing later, but I got these suckers used.

Oh god, so many ork boyz and nobs and lootas and burnas and trukks. At least the warboss looks nice. The others are all slowly making their way to being painted. So many boyz with so much detail though.

I remember the 1st edition Dark Angels. Black primer, red stipe on head, yellow eyes. Job done. Now that was painting.

I'm finding that painting Lizardmen with any speed is nigh impossible. With all the gold details, multiple washes needed, and a significant amount of bone, claws, and other details, they just can't be painted quickly enough to make it look like I'm making any progress.

I find assault marines to be a pain because I have to paint them in pieces or the stupid JP get's in the way of everything.

Otherwise I don't really mind painting most models - now cleaning flash is a totally different story...

(sigh) Had to do a horde army....

I know exactly what you mean, and you could look at them forever but you never notice the spots you missed till you play a game.

There's just so damn many of them, and they have so much fiddly details.

I'm starting to think that GW hates Horde armies.

Haha, they probably do, there more plastic in a Horde army, 5 space marine models of 10 boyz for the same price, there saving a few Cents every marine collector! and loosing other players be cause everyone collects marines!

Samus_aran115 wrote:I can imagine why GW is hiking up the prices of orks. They've got to balance out the affordability of BA.

You might not agree, but I happen to think Blood angel are quite a bargain, for the quality of the miniatures. I've never seen a marine kit better than the sanguinary Guard. Those have to be some of the best models they make.

Couldn't agree more, and it still takes me about 4-5 coats of Blood Red (slightly thinned) over the mechrite to get anywhere near good coverage, so finding the will to paint is getting harder...

Prime white man, you can do it all in one coat.

Jimsolo wrote:I like painting my army (Space Marines) except for the guns and swords. When it comes time to do the weapons, I just want to give up. I hate the metallic paints, and have never managed to successfully do a non-metallic metallic. Makes me want to paint all their weapons black and just be done with it.

Oh god yes.

I'd also like to say that any army past the ~30th model. When you spend 2-4 hours painting a single model, it can get absolutely mindnumbing. It gets worse if they're all similar. Had to stop my orkz at 35 because of that.

With my truescale marines, I'm going to try to add enough detail to make them all different from one another, and my chapter uses 3 colour schemes, so hopefully they won't get too boring.

Not a fan of vehicles either.

What you need here are two airbrushes and a 2" housepaint brush.

Step 1: dual-wield the airbrushes, fill one with boltgun metal, the other with badab black
Step 2: Blast the unit with the boltgun airbrush, then the badab airbrush
Step 3: using the huge brush, drybrush everything boltgun metal
Step 4: admire the lame-ass paint job, but hey at least your doing a unit of 10 in under 15 mins!

Or failing that, the chrome spraypaint you get for cars

Personally I'm fed up of painting orks, well, units of orks! I want to repaint my zagstruk as I did a rush-job for a tourney and he deserves better than that, but otherwise totally bored of red green and black right now!

I started Eldar this year with Guardians. I gotta say these mini's are rather boring to paint. Try and get the right arm to hold the gun.. omg.. the pain, the pain. 7 months and still not done. They make me play computer games instead.

Edit: In the last week or two Iv been fed up with my Guardians. To break the habit I started experimenting with blending, using mediums, highlights, shadows etc. Anything to make the painting more fun. You dont get nearly as much done but you learn heaps and the mini's turn out pretty good if things work in your favor (sometimes not so much). Has made me paint a little more and its not so much a "job" anymore.

If painting is becoming a "Job", try to do something different. Even if its just tattoos on your Orks arm or a bit of blue in your space marines hair. Do blending on a weapon. Its good stuff.

I tried that. Thanks to that, I'm now doing three highlights per colour and no washes on an Ork horde. Now I know I'm able to, I can't bring myself to field something that hasn't.

I guess for me it's just troops in general. All are basically the same save for different squad/platoon markings on them. The end result is always stunning though. Nothing nicer than having an entirely painted army, which doesn't happen often for my friends or myself.

Im tired of painting tactical marines. There is no longer anything interesting about painting them. Its a shame I still have like 6 space marine armies I want to paint Im ready to paint something a little less cohesive and unified in color scheme, so I purchased a Battleforce for the Eldar. Their models are great, you get plenty of diversity in color schemes with the aspect warriors, so im looking foward to the challenge.

Crusading deep in the Eastern Fringe.

Anything with significant amounts of black on it, e.g. Black Templars. Weathering is insufferable, you can't do the "chipped paint" effect very well on black, and if you're highlighting isn't EXACTLY right with the colors and line consistency, it looks horrible.
