Iron Hands for me.
You take the no-nonsence, utilitarian style of the Death Guard, the eternal RAEGE of the World Eaters, the quest for prefection of the Emperor's Children, tempered with the most humility of any legion, and smother it in a hearty helping of the mechanicus. You then add in the entire C'Tan thing, an arch nemisis, and a good reason to resent every other legion for letting the Emprah die (exept the Sallies and Raven Guard, the're cool.)
I would hope that they would at least get a SC in the C:SM book, but they don't follow the codex! I suppose that FW is my only hope, I mean they lifted RG up, did they not?

I agree. I feel bad for the Iron Hands. Well put sniperjolly. They're also pretty unique in that they follow a different religon than all the other Chapters (ans Imperium for that matter).

I miss the iron hand players from my LGS. They ran a pretty nasty list. But they were fun to play with. Now we only have Soul Drinker players, ultramarines, blood angels, and Space wolves :*(

Never really got why Imperial Fists are so popular. Don't get me wrong: I still like them and Rogal Dorn makes a mean palace but what else really? As others have pointed out they've actually been overshadowed by their own succesor chapter The Black Templars.

One vote for the Ultramarines I really like the color scheme, the Romanesque theme and the fluff. I've been reading the black library books about Urial Ventris all summer so you could say im an even bigger fan of fourth company than I am the rest of the chapter (Calgar is a little over the top IMHO).

My favourite chapter has always been the Blood Angels.
The Blood Angels I think are the true heroes of the Horus Heresy. They sacrificed the most to defend humanity. They were the ones in the final battle for earth who stood with the Emperor and defended the imperial palace, Sanguinius held Eternity Gate on his own. And they suffered the heaviest losses as the entire legion and Sangunius died defending earth, with not a single man surviving.
Also Sanguinius is one of the few primarchs who had any kind of real superpower (being able to fly). Most of the others are boring and samey (Roboute Guilliman and Lion El'Jonson seem to be the exact same character).
And I like that they are Red... except when they are Black which I like too

The Heros of Isstvan V would like to dispute that with you... BA actually had enough marines so that they had two thousand to rub together and form successors at the end of the heresy.
Or possibly the Alpha Legion. They went traitor to defend humanity!

The heros of Isstvan? You mean them incompetents who droped down straight into a trap and got owned, costing humanity half it's marine force?
I always figured Isstvan was just a tidy way to account for all the legions no one cared about getting killed off in act 2... lets face it, the Iron hands and Raven guard are just a bunch of red shirts
As for the Blood Angels being destroyed... In older fluff it was rumoured that they were, and because they were, geneseed had to be taken from Sanguinius dead body in order to rebuild the chapter. This is why the geneseed is flawed, and why during the black rage they see visions of his final battle with horus and his death... because their geneseed was actually taken after his death.
However looking through the new BA codex GW seem to have glossed over that part of the story, and alluded to the death visions being unexplained but possibly a psychic phenomenon... This seems less satisfying than the original explination, but perhaps matches up better with the time lines. The Second Founding wasn't until at least 7 years after the battle, that would probably give them just enough time to rebuild the legion up to 2000 if they worked fast (maybe)...
Though the book does imply that at least Azkaellon (and probably others) survived... But I think I still like the old story, and it's part of why I like the Blood Angels... even if it doesn't quite fit with some of the other fluff.

Wow, OK, that was really mature, and while we are on the subject of bashing each other's legions for god knows why;
The pre-heresy blood angels were bland. They had no personality. I mean, sanguinis was a pretty cool guy, but his legion was basically the ultramarines, but instead of shooting 70% of the time, they ran forward and got shot 70% of the time. The whole personality of the BAs was, and still is, Horus's bootprint still found on their DNA helix. They also basically killed themselves the instant that they took blood from sanguinis's corpse, injected into their veins, and used it as their gene-seed. Yeah, nice going, guys.
I still struggle to understand why you blatantly insult other's inteligence and opinions to defend the incorect statement that BA sacraficed the most.
Wait... *looks at SmackCakes' postcount* I just got trolled, right?

Personally, I'm surprised the Imperial Fists are that popular. I recognise many people like them, hell I do, I just expected the more 'characterful' Legions to take precedence.

I like blood angels for the tragic heroes they made them out to be, and with regards to the who can use the most nerd references in a debate on who the BEST SM legion was... its irrelevant. None of them could claim the title BEST though some probably wanted too (Emperors Children, Luna Wolves, Space Pups). So let’s just keep it to favorites like the topic implies.
