The Long-Las is made merely by removing the Cadian barrel and replacing it with the longer Chatachan barrel.
This is just a test piece, I mangled the body of the Long-Las when I took it off the sprue.
To make easy scope, just clip a binocular from the heavy weapon squad in two, file the sights that are already on down a bit,
and you've got some good telescopic sights.

I decided against the backpacks. They were too clunky... and unnecessary. Automatically Appended Next Post: Photo dump!
I've unpacked the rest of my photo equipment. The photos here are shot using soft light. I filtered my light through a white bed sheet and bounced light back from the left of camera with a white fill card (foam core).
Now that I've got a Cadian battle force, I have plenty of material to play with.
Heres another basic infantry man.
Gonna scrap the Long-las idea for one already in the command sprue.
Here's one of my Snipers. Counts as Ratling or as part of a special weapons squad.
I traded some terrain in to my flgs and got a box of plastic scouts
Here's a shotgun grenadier. I suppose if I really really wanted to... I could field storm troopers the same way- lengthen the bolter, add a lasgun tip, remove the magazine and add wires in its place.
Clipped the top off the shotgun just to be different. Have you noticed that the SM shotty is str4 and the IG is str3? Anyways, I'm hoping that small mod will help distinguish. Also is it supposed to have 2 barrels? How are the shells loaded and ejected? Theres only one port... one more modification: I will either remove the bottom barrel or make it smaller.
I think I'm done tinkering with the ogryn. Gotta figure a way to make one look like the bone 'ead. Antenna? Different colored head?
Anyways you cant quite see what I've done... but I added the vents (upside down) from a space marine backpack and 2 half lengths of a reaper auto-cannon (defiler boxset) replacing the old exhaust or battery things on the wardroid's back. Better pictures will come later once he's painted.

For Bone 'Ead, you should give it a Necron head. Get it? BONE head? Necrons? No?
I'll leave now...

IIRC, the bottom barrel is where spare shells are held before firing. In Fire Warrior you can shoot one or both barrls, so it might be an over/under style weapon.

Golden eyed scout is right: in real life shotguns / hunting rifles, the "magazine" is a parallel tube usually running underneath the barrel... I bet it's the same for those SM shotguns...
Plus, I don't have the kits but isn't the lower "barrel" a bit narrower than the higher one?
On a side note, I have found a good way to make some scopes for rifles: just cut the barrel & supporting piece off a Catachan lasgun, trim it a bit, & glue over your designated gun... Really efficient to me!!! (I could post a pic if 1. my explanation is blurry 2. some of you are interested & 3. the OP allows me to "slightly" hijack his thread...)
Anyway, good work on them!!

The wings, skull and packs were removed so that the arms can be raised into an aiming pose. My boys aren't superhuman and still need to aim to hit stuff, unlike marines that can fire from the hip and still hit 2/3 the time!
The plastic scouts are pretty cool... but the model isn't designed very well for a plastic kit. Whats the point of multi-piece plastics if you can't get multiple poses?

Go right ahead. I welcome all the ideas DakkaDakka can offer me.
Its been a long time since I posted last.
I've been tracking down pneumatic equipment and researching silicones and liquid plastics. I've got my self an air compressor capable of 100psi with a 3 gallon tank, a pressure paint pot converted for use as a pressurized chamber to be run at 50psi, and other air accessories. It turns out the pressure pot though sold by a US retailer was in fact build in Asia... I biked all over town for a bolt that didn't exist in American standard measurements (5/8" - 20). When I thought I had found the blasted thing it was the wrong measurement (5/8" - 18) Thankfully a knowledgeable customer at the hardware store overheard my conversation with the clerk, and directed me to a pipe and fittings supply shop down the road. The part that fit perfectly, and looks exactly like the air intake of the pressure pot, was a Japanese Industrial Standard Plug. Back home I wrapped all my threads with Teflon tape and made airtight seals through my entire system. There is however a tiny air leak under the air regulator feeding the pressure chamber; it shouldn't be a problem at 50psi.
Good news at the FLGS! They have released a new coupon for Facebook users. They release one every 100 fans on Facebook, and they just reached 900!
Anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area not a card holder at Black Diamond Games? Print this coupon out below and hand it in with your purchase!

Ok, so I'll go ahead, having finally taken the pic :
Should be used as a "Nurbo" gun (i.e. Nurgle-Marbo )
As you can guess, I just clipped off the barrel from an IG tank sprue ( IIRC), and glued it on top of said gun. All is left to do is drill the rearward part of the scope, the new barrel, and remove a bit of the "under-barrel" to have it look like a stub gun recoil spring guide...
Hope this was helpful...
Cheers!
