Stuff yourself to bursting for all I care. I don't tend to eat much anyway, especially not when I am busy. But as long as the terrain and my minis don't get messy, it hardly matters to me.

For me, I would say take a break if you are going to eat anything bigger or messier than a chocolate/snack bar. Drinks are okay, as long as they have a lid and aren't sweating on anyting important.

I have nothing against eating, drinking, smoking, etc. while gaming, in theory, so long as the player(s) doing so remain attentive and clean. If you're both starving during a long game, I'd say take a break (unless that means hogging game store tables that others want to use) and eat a meal, then go back to playing - it just makes things easier. I won't be offended if you decide to dip into a bag of chips while I move my models. Again, it's about remaining attentive while snacking and not making a mess of things. If you don't care that your models get greasy that's your business. Just don't touch mine and don't mess up the terrain/table. Living in NJ, the smoking ban has been in place long enough that smoking indoors feels foreign to me (with the exception of New Brunswick-level skanky basements for parties and shows, where pretty much nothing you do can worsen the conditions). If I want a smoke, I'll do it between shorter games or see if my opponent wants an occasional 5-minute break during longer ones.

At our FLGS they have snacks and stuff there, but mostly all we get is bottled beverages, like gatorade and soda. However at my house the current thing is to play outside right next to the grill. The gaming table outside is almost 6x4 and we can take a break when the food is done to mow down by the grill and get right back to having the kroot eat the dead of their opponents.

There's nothing like standing around the War Room smoking large cigars while sipping from decanters of scotch. I say whatever goes at the game table, but it's also my place. For an away game, it's whatever passes for custom there.

I know my stuff isn't Golden daemon quality but I would never want to risk a chance of me eating around my opponents models or tables so I would hope my opponent would feel the same.
At my LGS we spent good long hours making tables donating and making terrain pieces so I'm a bit protective over stuff like that, sure sometimes someone will bring a drink which everyone would quickly remind him/her that they should be careful with it. And some people actually have a really good painted army and I would feel extremely bad if I or someone else were to accidently smudge some chocolate on a model. I just find it rude to be frank.
Why would anyone touch someone elses models anyway? I don't care if your eating or not eating..... keep your fingers to yourself. So I don't mind people eating as long as they keep it off the playing surface.

Bring on the food! The one thing our group really tends to frown up food wise though, and I am dead serious, are salt and vinegar chips. The two can make a mess of uncoated models as several of us found out the hard way.

We often play at someone's house, and it usually involves beer, a grill, and loads of meat.
I think that there should be two rules that, generally followed, avoid most conflict:
No food or drink at or on the gaming table. There's probably a space where you put your stuff (case, etc) Put everything over there. It there's nowhere but the gaming table, then don't bring it. If you don't have food and drink near the models and terrain, you can't spill it on the terrain and models.
Don't touch other people's models. Whether that is because you have greasy burger fingers, cheesy snack fingers, or simply butter fingers, leave them alone. They are not your models. If you don't touch them, you can't stain them, scratch them, break them, or drop them.
Most people would, I think, be happy to have you eat or drink whatever, if they KNEW it wasn't going to get on their stuff.

I say no food due to accidents. If you're hungry, eat away from the table, not snack chips, candy bars, sodas, etc. anywhere near the models. If you're eating away from the gaming table, you're not gaming as your models are then left leaderless with their general (you) decides to tuck into that Subway heavy onion and garlic sammich that's been sitting at the bottom of his bag for the last few hours making it nice and ripe.
It doesn't matter how careful people are, the propensity for soda or food being dropped on my models, or someone just being careless for "that one second" and reaching with their greasy mitts to handle a model I spent hours painting just isn't worth the risk for me.

I don't mind as long as no one tries to use it as a stall, either intentionally or not. The games can be pretty long, and if you have to eat and stall me during my turn, I should get a smoke break in the middle of your turn, and vice versa...

I just said cheeseburger because it's my favorite food, I've eaten anything during a game ranging from subway to pizza or chicken wings.
Asking someone not to eat or drink anything in a three hour time span, it's like asking them not to use the bathroom, nobody wants to be a bathroom Nazi.
