Good eye! I remember looking at that and thinking, "huh, must be a conversion." And then promptly forgetting I'd ever seen it.

Though it curiously looks a lot more like a 3-up version of the spider-rider mount than the gigantic spider for the goblin lord.

There's also something behind it that looks like a chariot (or ball of junk) chained to two squigs.

But then odd that the boar boyz are the old models.

I think all of these are conversions.

Wait didn't they get a release (River Trolls and the Boar Boyz) not too long ago?

Kind of surprising to hear about them supposedly getting a new release so soo afterwards.

If he calls confirmations by Harry AND Hastings "random rumours", he just discredits himself and shows how uninformed he is about Warhammer Fantasy rumours, esp. when he rather takes his personal wishlists on release dates as fact. Wood Elves most likely not before 2012, they are bascally the Dark Eldar of Fantasy, getting a new book every 12 years .

But I would ask everyone to get back on topic:
Can't find a pic of a Giant Spider in the BRG, esp not on page xiii which is dedicated to Warriors of Chaos. But there is a 3up sculpt of the goblin spider mount often mistaken for the new giant spider. And the Orc fluff section clearly mentions that this giant spider is lured into battle by Goblins, not Orcs.

Not surprising if you consider GW's new release policy: Making releases not only with the army book but in principle when they are ready and can be squeezed into the schedule. See Empire, Daemons, High Elves and O&G. Makes people forget that GW has released just one army book this year.

Poor ol' Bretts...

Noone remembers them now and with their entire army being constructed around cav, well I think they should get some form of army help asap.

Or perhaps they will go the way of the squats...

Bretts certainly aren't the worst of the bunch as they still get to keep their 3 wide buses in 8th and damsels got a huge boost. Wood elves on the other hand... (altough there are workable 8th ed choices even there)

That's not to say that these guys shouldn't get new armybooks as soon as possible but there are a lot of armybooks to be made.

Could you post a picture of said spider for those of us who don't have our BRB's with us? I would have brought it with me, but I didn't want a hernia

It wouldn't take much to revamp Orcs. I could see it happening.

Or do you not remember them both "confirming" that Imperial Armour vol. 8 will be featuring rules for an Ork Gargant in the same tonnage as the Reaver?

That's the thing that bothers me the most about this rumor. There was nothing at all prior to it hinting that the book was being worked on, and that...that's unusual.

Well, rumour mongers know for about half a year that Ogres, Tomb Kings and O&G are not far from a release, just the order was subject to debate. O&G was started before TK, so no surprise here for people following rumour discussion.

On topic, here some information of the Warhammer World Fantasy release event 10th July, by Draig of "Da Warpath":
Also managed to corner Jeremy Vetock. First up, this guy is fantastic! Maybe I'm saying that because he seems to approach the hobby in the exact same way I do, but I'm very happy he's writing the new book. Unfortunately he confirmed it'll be a while before ours is out. It's on the horizon, but don't hold your breath kinda deal. He asked me what I'd like in a new Orc book and (as a kavalree git) I gave him a few suggestions. I said I thought Boar Boyz should be core, and he agreed (yippee!). I also asked him about Black Orc Boar Boyz but he just grinned. He's keen to add a large monster of some sort to the book as well so we'll have to see what happens. We also had a chat about Orc fluff ad how there really aren't any good stories in the Orc army books. I think he's got an eye on changing that which is fantastic news. Finally, I made him aware of DWP, which he wasn't, so no poopin in da isles gitz, just in case ee shows up!

Finally Rick Priestly confirmed that various drafts of the new army book are floating round and he's seen them. He wouldn't go into details though, of course, and they are apparently very embryonic.

That's not actually true. Chaos Dwarves still exist, and are a force to be reckoned with.

Q1 2011? I don't really keep up with WHFB stuff, but wouldn't that put it about a year after the last Army Book? That's pretty dire.

2k6 was when the last O&G book came out, at least that's the copyright date.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

I find it funny that high elves were comfirmed but no we're talking about orc&gobbos. I'm pretty sure that orcs and gobblins got updated not to long ago, I mean Orcs and goblins are popular but they're not space marines.

Uhoh. I think I broked Alpharius.

But honestly it was the best way to describe the situation as it stands. The Chaos Dwarves aren't too actively involved. The Hellcannon marked, as far as I know, the first time they've taken part in "modern" affairs for awhile.

Ha - good one!

I just don't think I've seen you do that before!

And yeah, I think you're right about the Hellcannon being the CD's first mention/participation in the 'Modern Era' of WFB...

I can't vogue for the accuracy of this statement, but the manager of my local GW store and I were talking about what army I want to collect next, and I was talking about going with Tomb Kings. He suggested I hold off in investing in a Tomb Kings army because he expects a new book sometime early in 2011.

If Orcs & Goblins is the next book, and work has just started on TK, then that would fit the schedule he suggested.

Signatured, for sheer brilliance and truth.

Anyway, I'm interested. I was thinking of finding my way into Fantasy with some Tomb Kings, but I might just try Orcs & Goblins.

I think the 'Basecoat, Wash, Done', 'Bash 'em out' style of Painting is one that will suit me, as right now I'm staring at Deathwing, which require SOOO much detail and attention.
