I bet you think those looks you get from your friends are admiration. They're probably just making sure that the game is being played correctly and you're not cheating them.
Hi Leo, immensely proud actually, just to be one of the 6.8 billion in fact, it's all just so exciting.
You however appear to be from a different generation from me, see when I call someone 'friend' it's because over the years of shared lifetime months of shared company and probably days and days and days of quality conversation we've formed a strong emotional bond and mutual understanding.
As such it's entirely possible for us to share a 'joke' of sorts and discuss how their or occasionally my arrogance prevented them from saying 'let me see that damned codex' and just decided that in fact my raider could indeed outflank ^_^.
Secondly how exactly does playing a game incorrectly and waiting for someone to call you out qualify as 'just making sure'? Surely a brief session consulting the rule book would be more trustworthy than this old jedis opinion

Hey look, it's one of those people that log on to a Counterstrike server with an aimbot and nospread and then brag about how many kills they got before they were banned. Fantastic.
I don't like cheaters. I don't mind houserules, but you must tell them to me before the game begins and I must agree to them-- both of these are not met and you continue to use the house rule, you are a jerk who I have no intention spending my time with.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned but cheating is nothing to be proud of. For you to knowingly cheat a rookie and then crow about it to the world shows how little class you have. If your friends aren't at least offended by your actions then I can see how you must all enjoy "pulling one over" on each other.
And please don't compare yourself to a Jedi you don't even come near the idea of what a Jedi is.

I think that, no matter the game, cheaters should get the can, because by cheating you ruin the game for everyone and it's no longer fun. And if it's fun for you, then I feel sorry for you and pity you, for you have obviously have been raised to think that it is okay, and fun.
Though, it is fun to wipe the smirk off a guy who is cheating when you kick his/her ass.

I know an Eldar player that keeps trying to use the S 9 brightlance rule from Apoc
Then there is the BT player that insists that he gets to use the newer PotMS BS4(BTs can have PotMS on every vehicle in thier codex, including landspeeders) Yeah, he runs the squads of multimelta+Autocannon Speeders and a bunch of Razorbacks and predators.
Knew a guy that had a small group of "special dice" that he rolled in "emergency" situations. He wouldn't let anyone touch them. One day he had to use the rest room. Whille he was away I rolled those 6 dice 5 times. Came up with 24 4+ rolls with the overwhelming majority being 5+. Was only 3 dice that rolled 2 or less.
One old timer I know uses the tape measure push to glide units an extra 1/2" to 1" forward.
There are more. It happens, you become aware. They try it again you call them on it, if it continues to be a problem don't playthem unless your friends having a secret policemans type game.

The other one I hate is the 'dice flipper'. The dude who picks up a die and essentially keeps flipping it over one rotation so that it almost always rolls what he needs. If you don't believe me, practice a little bit, it works.

Yeah it's fairly rude. It's actually fairly hard to stop beyond asking them to use a cup and when this is refused calling a TO over and explaining the situation - at this point expect to be eyed as a really really paranoid person and told 'not to worry' - and asking if both players could use a cup =P

Guy claiming that I was TFG for claiming cover saves vs models he said were not within LOS.
Which is to say, he said absolutely no LOS on my turn, but absolutely clear LOS on his.
Same game, same guy walled off a table edge with models so opponents could not enter from that edge. Then moved Landraiders through the same line without movement of the models on the edge because it was "RAI".
To the point that he swore verbally about it all. Then made a stink and brought a TO in when I asked what he meant.
Still the only real bad 40k experience I have had.

When I was new, I played some BT player who deepstriked on turn one. He also did a bunch of movement rule violations which I found out about after the game.
My friend and I do a lot of house rules. Skimmers can ram, and turret weapons above the heads of intervening troops are not obscured, but the hull and sponson mounted weapons are.

I think Brettila was talking about a controlled roll of the dice. There are several ways of doing it, but check this link out to learn how to spot cheats:

Tell me if you suddenly realize that you know someone who does this after whatching the video.

I've never had anything worse in tournament situations than experienced players who should know better than trying to 'get away' with moving models through his own bases or within an inch of my models. I'm a hawk, don't try me. I've had blatant making-up-of-rules from young or ignorant players, but that hardly counts. ... oh, actually once I had quite an experienced player forget that you needed a 1500+ point army to take Carnifexes as Elites in the old codex... 1000 points, four carnifexes, a winged tyrant and minimum genestealers... my first game with Eldar... ow.

I haven't had much problems with cheaters (That I have noticed...). The biggest thing was I chose to deploy second in a match. So this guy I played deployed first, then I deployed in a way to counter his formations, and then he REdeployed right after that to counter me.

Very true. When i first started playing Dark Eldar for my first army a guard player was using imperial armour rules/models without telling me i needed his permissino to use them ( Didnt know anything about Imperial armour books etc. ). That was a painful engagement. Hate it when people cant just play by the rules. Nothing justifies manipulating them to your advantage.

A couple months back, when I'd just started 40k, I played against a marines player who was running dreadnought swarm. He was drop podding them all in. So I ask him, "Hey, what the hell are you rolling first turn for? Deep striking units come in on the second turn!" He says "No, they have a special rule"
I didn't play marines, so I had no idea how drop pods worked at the time. BUT THAT"S NOT IT! When he was deepstriking, he would never roll for scatter. I asked him why he wasn't rolling for scatter, "Yeah,uh, drop pods have a special rule."
So yeah, naturally I lost the game, on account that it was my second game. It's okay though, I stole his kayvaan shrike model, Bwahahaha. Don't leave your HQ on the floor next time, douchebag!
