Wow, I love this army already. Use of the Vostroyans is absolutely perfect when mixed with Sisters, their looks blend together so well, and your painting really ties the two forces together.

Great painting, great flavor to the army, I can really see this army will have a ton of personality when it's finished, so keep it up

@ Scrapner: Haha yeah, sundaynight I went very quick with painting all of the sudden, by the way, the Rhino still isnt finished

@MADLarkin: The blue was done very simple actualy. I primed the models white and then gave the armour a wash of Asurmen Blue. After that i pick out all the little bolts with Chaos Black and then Mithril Silver.

It's been far to long but I painted again today, and the result is another guardsman finished and I started on a sniper. Here are the pictures:



And the sniper, this guy is pretty hard to paint because I really have to see whtich parts to paint first and which secondly so that I dont have to repaint all kinds of things. The plan is to give the blue armour and the red clothing some kind of camouflage pattern, since he needs to be all sneaky. Thats why he has grey spots on his faceplate. Yes, I really need to get a concrete idea of that before I try it again.


And a final picture of all the infantry painted right now. I can't wait untill I got a squad finished.


Apart from the painting I did all kinds of thinking and came up with a great idea for the Regimental Standard carrier and a concept for an Inquisitor. The first one would basically be a Vostroyan Sniper model without the faceplate. The sniper rifle comes apart in the blister, so the plan was to put the banner from the Catachan Command Squad on the place where his left hand would be and a pistol in the other. Something like this:

i really like the idea, but maybe a pointing finger or sword instead of the pistol? i feel like it would look better with something other than the pistol.

@Sageheart: Yes, the Vostroyan part of the army is going to inculde one CCS, two infantry squads, 2 sentinels and a special weapon squad. (snipers) And about the sword, I really want to make the company commander stand out like a leading figure. Se he will be having a sword that point towards the enemy. The banner carrier is there to.. well, carry the banner. I am also sure I am going to swap his head for a Chaos Marauder one, something with a big moustach.

@kunst80hummel: Yes I am aware of the model, but I dont like it so much, something about a bare-chested guy in a cold, burned out city of death just doesnt work for me.

hhaha i would be so down with a big moustach banner bearer haha. yeah that makes sense with the sword, i just dont really go with the pistol. maybe holding a sword like down, holding the top of the handle.

i love the bare chested model but also dont think it works for these models and think your conversion works a tonbetter!! do you have the banner yet, if you need one i believe i have one i could send you

I did some painting on the sniper and the idea I had of him starts to form. Im not completely sure about the camo patterns, what do you think?

The camo looks a little flat. You might consider adding a streak of gray to the dark stripes. or maybe a heavier wash.

i like the camo but yeah it is a bit flat!

You are all right about the camo, im not to satisfied with it either. And by adding grey stripes do you mean something like this?

i think that would be the best camo, or like the blueish version of that for a more cityfighting feel, that red one you just posted above loooks more like fall camo then city camo thou it looks good.

I finished the sniper this evening, to bad its pitch dark so I cant take good pictures. This is the best I could pull of for now.

I feel bad for not replying at all for a week or two, but I dont paint often at all. And I only want to post when I finished something. The second sniper only needs his arm, head and base done and he is done for to. Also I had an idea for Vostroyan Rough Riders, its photoshopped and I have no idea of scale but I think it looks pretty cool:



Once again, sorry for not posting at all lately.

i dunno it doesnt support the vostroyan background. but it will most defintly look cool if you upgrade the boars a bit

you can justify the use of Cavalry in the vostroyans. What if a vostroyan tank crew lost their tank, and they can't get a new one? They will use cavalry with pointy boom sticks.

Just think up with some fluff, and you can do everything in this hobby.

Haha thanks for the support, its just some wild idea right now, I dont even know if the scale with the Vostroyans/Boars would be right. And they need those Rough Rider lances of course. And fluff-wise, I think boars fit the Vostroyans better then horses or motorcycles. I dont know, winter and cold always makes me think of boars.

true but they live on a plannet that is one giant factory so i believe that all animals have died out. but its true in this hobby you can justify everything and thats great. i myself plan on making a ghost host army with ghost ships

It's been a damn long while since I posted again, but Ive got something exciting? Well, something different this time. One of the two Scout Sentinels of my army! I just finished its assembly so the pictures are made inside.



Assembling the legs was a real pain in the ass but the result was worth the while I think. Also, the reason for the pilot and top not being attached yet, is that I want to give the pilot's body a Vostroyan torso. I am thinking about one of the models from a Heavy Weapons Team.

Thats all for this time, I really want to post more often but school, friends and laziness are taking allot of time.

Thank you, it always was some kind of a goal in this hobby to buy a Sentinel and pose it like this. When building it I was wondering how the Sentinel should get off the wall? Because if he stretches the leg he will launch himself.
I just finished the second sniper and finished assembling the Sentinel, will prime him soon and let the painting commence.
