The shoulder pads are from the new chaos infantry upgrade sprue.

Hey how do you do your base cause there really good?

All the bases on the berzerkers were based with a fine sand I bought at a local Micheal's Craft Store. The same stuff that's on the lords base. As for the the Khorne symbol on the dreadnoughts base I made the template in the pic then transferred that onto plastic card and then trimmed it down to fit the base. As far as colors go the turf was painted black, then drybrushed in order with lighter amounts of every new color the following: adeptus battlegrey, codex grey then fortress grey.

Also thank you all for the comments. Very much appreciated. And I plan to add more new threads with every interesting project and plan to provide my own feedback as my time in this community continues.

Awesome work so far I like the paint scheme and the way your models look, that first image of the dread I had no idea what it was until someone mentioned it was an old school dread man they look so different originally lol. Keep it up!

I'm really enjoying your blog, Ninjabiscuit. It's inspiring me to actually work on a single project for a while, and start my own blog. The hard part is choosing which of my current WIP armies (read: many) to stick with for that long...

Hehe. I hear ya on that one. I decided the other day to put my entire collection of marines on my game table(which hardly fit surprisingly) and let me tell you I was impressed and very discourage at the same time. I have about 62 models left to paint at the moment 12 of which are vehicles. It can be hard to continue with a project so large which is why I'm doing something like this. Builds my skill with other colors and still motivates me to paint. Even when painting simple color schemes ones motivation can drift away just from boring repetition. Also don't forget that almost all armies fluff wise ally with their brethren so for example painting marines of different chapters to field as the same army is of course perfectly fine and helps with painting a large army. Tomorrow I should have another set of update pics ready. Almost done... almost. Also on a project note I just received a new commission I'm undertaking for Alastergrimm which will have it's own project thread. More airbrushing with red along with maybe showing how to airbrush dust weathering effects.

(Update 7)

So the progress has been admittedly slow to be honest. I was planning this bunch to be finished before my commission for Alastergrimm arrived but alas even being a stay home father I find many a thing to distract me. None the less I will not let either project fight with each other and will have the berzerkers done in about a week. I remember saying how I was gonna take a lot of time on the lord, like a week or so if I remember and two things kinda shot that out the window. Being sick and finding an utter absence of cool chaos stuff for conversions. That and I can do minor putty work, but what was required of me could not be done. I therefore am only going to finish the ten berzerkers as far as the lot being sold off. I will still continue this thread until the lord is done, but he will NOT be part of the lot and will probably be sold separate for 2 reasons. 1) I cannot finish him in a reasonable amount of time given how long I have to go on the berzerkers and 2) The model really doesnt fit in that well with the old dread and the 2nd ed berzerker squad. Again I will still be selling the lord, just not with the rest of them. On to the pics!!!. In order the pics show the difference before and after a baal red wash, to the first two base colors for the rest of the detail, umbral umber and thamar black(both formula p3) and then finishing with the first highlight of calthan brown for all the bone areas. There are a couple closeups for those that will want to see it better too. Even though P3 paints are very smooth I still partially water them down to keep brush strokes from showing and to maximizes even coverage in just two coats of paint. Also anyone that hasn't invested in even making a home made water palette really should do so. It keeps your pots from drying out as fast from being open and you can have paint literally last for days without drying up(properly stored and covered first) and that is a huge bonus when batch painting models. It is always better to purchase one specially made, but home made ones work really well when put together right.

I also wanted to give the squad some character although they are 90% in the exact same pose so there are parts of the armor that are interchanged between red and black. If I am correct that means not a single minitature is exactly alike except in pose.

(Update 7)

Ugh finally. Well as before progress is again slow. So much has been distracting me lately and imitatively I have nothing to blame, but laziness really lol. I am on the home stretch though. All that is left to complete is the metallic colors and the highlight for the black. The bases take very little to complete and can be done in minutes. The skulls are what has recently been completed and there are only 4 berzerkers that need the first of the boltgun metal to be applied. My goal is to get enough painting in the next two days to finish these guys and continue work on my current commission project. The only thing I have of importance to interrupt me is an appointment I have to take care of at my local court house in the morning. As noted before the lord will not be completed with the rest and will be sold later separately when I have time to focus on it. Besides that here are two simple update pics to show progress.

(FINISHED!!!!!)

Yes it has been two weeks since an update. I wont explain why as it's a little complicated, but hey I finally finished them and that's what counts right? I decided not to add more to the bases even though just a barren gray is kinda dull. I just liked the miniatures the way they are being so clean and neat. As far as chaos goes I got too use to spiky this, bloody that and since the first minis I ever owned were these exact edition models I wanted to detail them with a similar paint scheme as what was on the box. Even though I did a lord the miniature just doesn't fit and I will more than likely keep it for later or sell it on it's own. This bunch of guys will be sold together. I have yet to settle on a price but I'm thinking between 125-150 is fair given the stuff I've done in the past for others and have sold through eBay. So on to the pics then? Mind you some will be repeats just so everything can be viewed through this one post.

Also if anyone is interested in purchasing this bunch I will see about posting them here on dakka in the swap shop as I would much prefer to skip the fees incurred from using eBay.
