The difference this time is that it was not only a playable build, but it was open TO THE PUBLIC. Anybody at PAX willing to brave the line could go right up and play it. Gearbox has acquired it and has been working on it for a few months to put the finishing touches on the 95% of the game that 3DRealms made. This time, the game is coming out.

If this was 90 years ago when it was supposed to have come out I would have been excited.

I have found no Info on it being canceled.


By the way I cant watch video posted saying its been canceled due to copyright regulations here in Australia.

It's been cancelled by whoever owned the content they used for their fake video.

I'll probably pick it up for the same reason I'll probably pick Splatterhouse up. Just cause I can.

Also, though, I will pick it up because 2K took a big risk in aquiring it, and I rather like 2K's previous work. And if there is one thing the video game industry needs more of, it's willful risk taking by the developers.

Watch the teaser. At the end, he says "I'm looking for an alien toilet to park my bricks. Any volunteers?"

If that alone doesn't count as a reason to purchase this game, I don't know what does

Like you said I am buying it just because it is duke Nukem.

Even if the game is somehow not good and gets poor reviews, I can only see it being a big seller. I'm guessing a lot of people will pick it up on principle - after all, this is a piece of videogame history, and will signal the end of an era of sorts. After Duke Nukem Forever, what vaporware is left?

Then again, it could be so mind-blowingly awesome that Duke Nukem makes a comeback as a lasting franchise.

No. Let's hope Forever is the end of it. Because if it becomes popular, then Uwe Boll makes a ing piece of rubbish movie that just -kills- the franchise.

Watched some of this game and it looks like your standard shooter with funny phrases thrown in. Still, Ill stay positive.

Uwe Boll doesn't really make game movies based on popularity. He made a Dungeon Seige movie like 3 years ago, and despite being mind blowingly hilarious and miscast, let's just say the iron was no longer hot to strike.

Besides, he's making an Auschwitz movie right now. Yeah. That'll be as tasteful as it is well-crafted.

Games were way more fun when they had tougher bosses too bad its a rarity these days

Has anybody else broken out their old Duke games in anticipation? I'm playing Time to Kill right now.

I love portal and duke em nukem. But they have taken there time a bit witht he new one. I hope it is worth the wait.

Any news on platforms? I know that -initially- there was talk about a PC/Xbox release, is that still the case or am I buying a 360 just for this game?

It's coming out on PC, Xbox 360, and Ps3.

Looks like it has the same sense of coarse humour and in-your-face offensiveness. Loads of stuff was like this in the 90s, GTA and others try the same today but with none of the charm. If Duke Nukem Forever get the humour and the character right the game just has to be a solid FPS for it to be a winner. I'll be looking forward to this one.
