Nice HPA, looking forward to a similar conversion.
How tall does that stand in comparison to a regular Skaven model?

Well the description says they graft wheels and all sorts of other things to it to insure that it moves along as fast as possible so a corpse cart/rat ogre conversion looks brilliant!

Perhaps I'm missing something crucial, but the Storm Banner doesn't effect either the Plague Mortar or Warpfire Throwers at all.

Storm Banner: All non-magical missile attacks that don't use BS to hit their target need to roll a 4+ on a d6 before they can fire. (Skaven Armybook, Pg. 11)

Warpfire Thrower and Plague Mortar are both Warpstone Weapons. (Pg. 60 for the Warpfire Thrower and Pg. 63 for the Mortar)

Warpstone Weapons: Attacks from weapons with this special rule count as magical. (Pg. 33)

Edit: Guess I should add the FAQ portion also:

Page 33 – Warpstone Weapons
Change the second sentence to “Warpstone weapons and
attacks made by them count as magical.”

So wouldn't they be exempt from the 4+ check caused by the Storm Banner? Am I forgetting something?

Exodus2013 wrote:Im just gonna buy the Necromunda model "The Caller" and use that and if GW makes a model for the HPA that looks way different i'll buy that too and use both of them. Doesnt matter what they look like... who knows what happens to things when pumped full of warpstone!! So my point is if your going to do a conversion then just shoot for the stars and make whatever you think would look cool or don't its all good .

That's my plan as well, except as my army is more focused on Clan Skyre I plan on replacing some of the bits with mechanical looking things. Basically Boneripper on a larger scale for a counts as HPA.

The machines you listed don't use magical missiles (see BRB page 36 for the rules of magic missiles), they instead shoot missiles that have magical attacks who are in turn able to harm creatures with the ethereal USR.

Edit: Either that or almost all dwarven warmachines are immune to the banner as well.

Edit 2: Made a thread on it http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/317336.page#1933989

They are immune to the banner, as are Dwarven Warmachines. Plus any other non BS warmachine that has magical attacks/missles.

No they changed the storm banner in the FAQ to specifically say that ALL ranged weapons that do not use ballistic skill have to roll a 4+ to fire. So that means our warpstone stuff and dwarven runic artillery.

Indeed they did:

Page 111 – Storm Banner
Add “One use only”. Change the start of the third sentence to
“All shooting attacks that don’t use BS [...]”.

Much clearer!

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

For those of you who were curious, or wanted to make your own, feel free!

This is how I made it : 1 Box of Rat Ogres, 1 Corpse Cart, 1 Box of Spawn

Assemble the basic cart. You dont need to put anything other than the axle, wheels, floor on first.

To build up the Abomination, shave off the legs at the crotch on the spawn torso's...but assemble them complete. Do not put any heads or bits on yet. Glue one torso on top of the other. Glue the screaming victims/zombie pile to the back of the HPA.

Take the torso of the rat ogres, and lay them down on the floor of the cart to provide a shape for the slug body. (so you dont have to use a ton of green stuf to build its 'trunk')

OK! Now its time for the fun bits...use the spawn arms since they are better designed and look more realistic than the rat ogre ones. Use rat ogre heads, and maybe some of the clan rat ones (that is what i am doing for my next one)....add in random mouths / eyes for gross out factor.

Once everything is assembled in place, use green stuff to blend the whole model together. I used a fair amount to add fur and so forth, about half a pack, so be warned!

Now, i wasnt able to add in any of the skyre mecha stuff like i wanted to, but I like the way it does look very Frankenstienish. My main inspiration was John Carpenters "The Thing"...go watch that movie for some inpiration when it comes to the beasties of Hell Pit!

I'm considering using the IoB griffon, greenstuffing some arms or heads onto where the wings go, and then sticking some extra random body parts around the body.
