Always remember, you Britons.

Be thankful your country: A: HAS a Gamesday and B: Isnt large enough that for some, a drive to Gamesday isn't a 48 hour drive. Seriously, wher I used to live, if I wanted to attend Gamesday in my own country, it was a 48 hour non stop drive.

Now we don;t even get a g-d GD

Have fun guys I wish I could afford to go this year.

Just a heads up if you see people wandering around sticking green star shaped stickers to anybody and everybody it's just the Norwich GW coach party. They've been issued loads of really silly challenges to complete as part of the trip. As a result you might see the same people asking the Forgeworld guys where the Forgeworld stand is and doing other similarly daft things.

Just got back and to be completely and totally perfectly frank.

The entire day was quite simply AWFUL. So bad that I'm planning on writing a letter of complaint.

My day amounted to, spending an hour and a half queueing for my Forge World reservation (a grand total of 6 man sized figures.)

Them finding my Forge World reservation, dumping it in a big mess in the center while they waited to pay for it

Another hour and a half queuing for my name to be called out so I could pay for the thing.

My name not being called out.

I went off to lunch and a quick browse for an hour.

Came back, queued waiting for my name to be called out for another hour.

My name was not called out, though I did get to talk to someone who said they'd have a look for it - who didn't find it.

Getting discouraged and going to see the ultramarines trailer.

Queued for the Ultramarines trailer (maybe 20 minutes queue)

Being somewhat cheered up by the ultramarines trailer (and getting a free t shirt). - Though the helmet eyes are still completely dull and unlit and the producer said, "GW said it was fine, they're not going to get changed." - Basically, it's Iron Warriors attacking a Imperial Fists planet, the fists being all wiped out except for 1 dude who hangs out with the Ultramarines and explosions ensue.

Then, it was back to queue at Forge World, me getting to talk to someone else finally who said that they've "lost" the reservation. It then took them 5 minutes to go off and find the models I'd ordered anyway from the normal Forge World stall.

Oh, and, of course, I didn't get that free mini.

So in short, it was a complete <insert expletive> up of a day where I pretty much paid 30 pounds for the pleasure of queuing and I fully plan on writing a letter (with stamps and everything) complaining about it.

It was my first games day, and I have to say I felt like it was a mixed bag. The winners of GD were confusing, forge-world and the tegular GW shop had nothing in stock from what I wanted to buy(I was almost first in), and I kept having towatch my models like a hawk after some kid pocketed my chaplain. His mother was sure red faced when he emptied his pockets. Love the dark eldar (they get harlequins!), and the new bloodbowl ooks fun. Disappointed that seminar tickets were pre-allocated too.

Id struggle to justify returning next year, which I honestly was not expecting to say.

I enjoyed it thow i did expect it to be on a larger scale (maybe thats because the last time i went i was younger and it all seemed bigger) i did like the Dark Eldar display and enjoyed the previews on screen. But i agree with Liam the GW stall had next to nothing i wanted.

From the one time I helped out with Forge World's stand at Baltimore a few years back...

They'd found your reservation once, you left before paying.
They scratch out those orders once they've already "found" the reservation and gotten it ready for payment, and if the person doesn't pay...they reallocate the models and just sell them to anyone who wants them.

Not sure what you're meaning by the "free model". If you're talking about the actual Games Day model, then you should have gotten the blister in the mail with your ticket, or at the door with said ticket.

That's not exactly surprising, considering that they announced on their website to "sign up for the seminars to ensure you get a spot sitting in on it".
By turning up early, you're not going to get let in without a ticket. They'd have let you in if you'd shown up as it was starting and if there was space, though.

They found my reservation once, along with everybody elses reservation and moved them from the shelves into a big random pile of bags in the middle.

They then picked one out at random, shouted a name (roughly 1 name every 5 minutes) for them to come out to the till and pay.

It was basically like Argos if the format was organised by a crazy person combined with Heathrow terminal 5 baggage handling.

Reservation orders over 50 pounds were to receive a free limited edition model.

I sincerely doubt it was 'reallocated' considering by the end of the day they were calling out the same names as they were at the start.

All except mine and another guy I heard about, whose packages were 'lost.'

WHilst you were queuing, did you go on an iphone on DAKKA to check DE rumours, at the recommendation of a kid in a white hoodie?

And did you que at any point with a giant guy in a white tracksuit, the aforementioned kid, and a guy who ordered loads of marine bitz?

Must admit the forge world stand did look like one huge free for all fortunately I didn't need/want any thing from there so avoided it aside from a couple of walks past trying to find a catalogue for my friend. I did how ever have a good look around the forge world development stand that was probably the highlight of the day for me had a long talk about their new WIP eldar aspect worriers the Shadow spectres. I have a couple of pictures of the one model they had on display for it i'll post them up at a some point.

Just got back, I had one of the best times of my life! I picked up loads of great stuff including a copy of The Horus Heresy: Collected Visions signed by over a dozen artists, authors and developers! My back is now in agony of having it in my bag through the whole day but it was definitely worth it. I also had a 6000 point game, mine and someone else's Blangels and some Black Templars versus Eldar and Space Wolves. We massacred them after I shattered the Space Wolves' assault on Turn One.

Imo this was the worst Games Day i've ever been to, and thats considering i've loved the previous 4 i've been to.

Pro's:
  • The non-reservation Forge World "scrum" was nowhere near as bad as it has been in the past

  • Enthusastic staff on Conversion competition, and actually managed to get a seat this year

  • The ability to listen to Warhammer Online talk without having to sit down

  • I won at DoW2 (and am apparently going to get an email from them and sent a free game, plus got a free pin badge to boot)

  • Con's:
  • No stall with Mystery boosters, bags, old codexes, backissue white dwarfs, etc.... (which was an INCREDIBLE disapointment)

  • Hardly any Mega battle tables, small amount of game tables in general, and overall the tables being unmemorable and generic

  • Que to get into the event in the first place went from "Line here" to "clusterfeth" as soon as they sent people down the sides

  • A lot less things to see and look at in general

  • Everything ran out of stock too fast again, most notable being the base board games from FFG, leaving only expansions

  • Barely any specialist games things for sale, and no specialist games being played either (parring a single FW epic 40k flying game)

  • Honestly though, the lack of the "Bargain things" store which sold the back issue WD's, codexes, bags, carry cases, and Mystery blisters, was the most disapointing thing, since for me it was one of the most enjoyable and fun things I remember from last years GD, in particular Mystery blisters. The fun in trading blisters with others which encouraged everyone to have a bit of fun and do a bit of batering was unforgetable, with my most fond memory of last year being me hunting down someone who wanted a Bill the Pony LOTR figure which was unloved by everyone (and then me deciding to keep it because its a god damn pony!).

I think next year will be my first year not going. Actually I think i'll make sure I email GW in advance of it and find out if the bargain sale area will be there or not, and then make my decision.

I went on my iphone so i think its me your referring too, dark eldar on here and seer less than an hour after the start of the day, with the lost order number and the silly forgeworld guy who nearly caused me to start a riot (i think we were in the que just over an hour). However once he found my order it was all signed sealed and paid for within 5 minutes, after which I had a great day, chatted a lot to FW and WF guys, went to the THQ seminar, got photos of the ork and the marine, ooogled the dark eldar and the rules which were sweeeet and TBH had the best games dat I think I have had in years.

    Peace out

As i said somewhere else i hadnt been in years, i enjoyed the day overall but i think it could of been better by far especially if there had been a stall for back issues of white dwarf and old codexes (as i do love to read the fluff).
I think id go again next year tbh thow i do hope they will do a bit more.

i had a great time at GD, i went with Manchester GW, our banner was a small crap Black Templar one, some banners i saw were awesome! i entered Golden Daemon with my rusty Battlewagon, didn't get anywhere though, i did notice there weren't that many people who enter the large scale miniature competition, i will be entering it next year with a large scale daemon AND IT WILL KICK ASS!!

it got to about 2 o'clock and the tiredness hit me, i didn't sleep due to having to be at the coach station for 6am, felt sorry for my friends at the brighton branch getting at the coach for 4:30am!

also loved the costumes from the event of the space marine and the ork boy (especially the ork!)

Bargain area sounds good, I thought GW didn't do sale stuff any more anywhere. It's real problem them running out of stock though, that's inexcusable at their own tradeshow. I'd quite like the chaos sorcerer figure but they are all expensive on eBay.
