Indeed running out of stock was a real pain, i had planned on buying quite alot but all they had of what i wanted was a deamon prince and a land raider, i wanted termies and a defiler and a few other bits but they had run out of them by about 12.

Well last year they had an area which sold:

Shoulder bag carry case - £3
Rulebook Cover (with zip) - £1
4 Black/brown Ink's - £1
3 White Dwarfs (Then went up to 5 for £1) - £1
3 Old Codex's/army books (Armageddon, old SM, old IG, Lustria, dark eldar, lizardmen, various collector's books) - £1
Old 40k Rulebook (hardback) - £1

As well as posters and some ammo box storage things.

And no sign at all this year of anything similar.

A couple of photos from me of Games Day this year.

In the meantime, I've got some awesome photos of Games Day myself.

The second pic is of everyone waiting for their names to be called in the second queue. It was so noisy that you couldn't even hear the names properly unless you were at the front.

But anyways, that's the last I'm going to post on the matter, as that's my Letter of Complaint in the post box and hopefully on its way to Nottingham.

In all honesty the day was rubbish! it was less than half the size of past gamesdays, horrendously crowded!

the lack of bargain stand really Pi**ed me off! i queued for 1hour 40mins at forgeworld to get my reservation and was then told to join an even bigger queue to the one till to pay! there was one till for a couple of hundred people! then there was the lack of nice boards, warhammer historical etc!

and it wasn't just forgeworld, every single stand had a scrum at least 3 people deep making it all rather claustrophobic as to the space in hall 1 in past years!

i paid GW £50 for a rather disappointing day! all they seem to do these days is screw you for money!

and to add to that my models were in appalling places in the cabinets and therefore only had one that finalised (i am pleased with that) even though they were all a lot better than my finalising piece last year!

anyway that's the end of my rant...

i may even start to move away from GW figures...

as to those of you i met... twas nice seeing you all and sorry i was a bit dopey... i was unbelievably tired :/

I agree the sales stand was a bit of a let down I was thinking of getting a HQ for my eldar but they had no eldar blisters at all and a very limited selection of the box sets the only thing i got which i intended to get was a pot of asurmen blue.

So most of the problems were with trying to buy things? I don't understand why anyone goes to gamesday to buy stuff. Seriously spend half the money on a trip to warhammer world, see the museum, buy any forgeworld, warhammer, archive model you want and don't que a second.

I had a good day but it's what you make of it I guess.

I enjoyed what I saw of it in the 30 mins or so I was running around free! Dark Eldar stuff looked very sexy, grabbed myself the Deathwatch book from FFG, and spent the coach trip back having a flick through it. Spent the coach trip up finishing stuff off on some models, painting on a moving coach is fun!

It also boggles my mind that they go to buy "standard" stuff that way.

Forge World and Games Workshop make it clear, in no uncertain terms, that they're "bringing a limited selection and stock of items for sale, mostly upcoming releases".

How is it surprising that they run out of a "limited selection/stock"?

I wasn't so much surprised they sold out it was how quickly they sold out that surprised me.

You really shouldn't be.

Selling out of "prerelease" items within the first 30 minutes of the Games Day is normal.

Best. Games. Day. Ever.

Well, best one I've been to since I was a prepubescent (but those are halcyon events tinted by nostalgia). It was nicely laid out and had a good variety of stuff. I got to have a good chat to a great many staff from mighty Studio level to lowly Forge World lackeys.

Genuinely don't understand people that go there to buy normal things - they're available all year round, and you don't have to lug them around the hall all day.

Here's a beautifully cheeky entry in the Duel category. Squats!

Here's the classic Blue Horrors. This was part of a gorgeous display on Chaos through the ages, which had loads of classic studio models, original artwork and archive publications. Well done Games Workshop, well executed.

Some parts were impossible to get in to (like the screenings of the Ultramarines trailer). Other weren't.

I nearly went and stood in James' Que when I saw there were only 4 or 5 poeple in it. Then noticed he'd gone! thought better of standing in it and went to the other authors under the seats!

And yeah, why do people spend so long queing to buy models available all year? I'd rather spend the time trying to talk to the studio guys you can't get everyday. Otherwise I'd just feel like GW had swindled me into buying a small GD model for £30 that I don't actually want... The only things I bought were the GD minature from FW and books that I could get signed on the day.

And I'll 2nd the best games day ever (that I've been too!). I was a little dissapointed with the game tbales and the big display (they were amazing but have seen better in the past, no offence intended) but the artists/authors/studio guys seemed to be attendance in greater numbers than usual and seemed easier to locate and get a chance to speak to. Plus handling one of the tanks from the masterclass book was awsome. It really is as good as it looks in the pictures

We were running Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising tournaments on the day, did any of you come by our stand to have a look or enter the tournament? We had a great day and there's pics up on our Flickr page here including pics of the Ork and Space Marine!

My day was ruined right at the start when everything *note EVERYTHING* in my costume apart from my clothing was confiscated, including my food and drink for the day.

Also it was disappointingly small.

The best part was meeting up with people from Dakka in all honesty.

Rubbish as it is that they took your costume AFAIK there is a line on the back of the ticket about no real world military or official organisation stuff allowed. still sucky for you though, sad that they were so anal about it as it sounds pretty cool.

You guys got it easy... in AUS we never really had a Games Day that was worth going to.

They always seemed hastily put together in inappropriate venues.

Did out Games Day tickets cost 40% more than GDUK tickets?

IIRC $30 including the mini... then again, I guess you get what you paid for...

That's about 40% less than UK GD tickets, which are £30 including the miniature.
