The Thunderwolves I don't mind. It;s just the lackluster effort at the name of the wargear. Everything is wolf something. At least the name of thier planet (Fenris) is a piece of Viking Saga even if it is wolf-based.
VikingScott is sad that his 3rd favourite marine chapter isn't as kewl as they used to be. If only they went back to being Vikings instead.

Homebrew chapter, dude. Homebrew chapter all the way, using the Space Wolves 'dex. Maybe not even the Space Wolves 'dex, it's entirely possible Vanilla might fit better. Use some Space Wolves bits for the furs and beards, and leave the rest of it behind.
This is a thing I was considering doing, until I ran out of cashmoney.
The truth is that at any given time I've got at least ten lists I WANT to work on, but can't afford.

Point, and Vikingscott's assertion is incorrect anyway. MOST of it is wolf somethings.

I'm going to get a lot of flack for this, but I think the new models are beautiful and would be very interesting to paint. I was particularly struck by the new sanguinary guard.
Yes I am a Twilight fan, too. I also read paranormal romance novels that are full of hot vampires, both male and female.
Perhaps pretty 40k models will draw your women into the warhammer/40k hobby? That could be a good thing.

Abaddon and Calgar both look like complete tools. So do most Space Marine special characters.

As Flexo from Futurama would say...
"I hate everything you stand for...
Nah, just kidding, you're all right."
In the interests of debating, I put it to you that models in 40K shouldn't be the kind of pretty that we see with the Sanguiniary Guard. This is the GRIMDARK future, after all, and though we can have beautiful models (which the Eldar do an excellent job of providing) there must be something that reflects this. With Eldar, this is their enigmatic and mysterious nature. What do the BA have? Nipples.

I'll grant you that Vampire Counts model looks pretty sweet, but that picture of Seth is just... eugh.
I mean, if it looked like he was actually charging at the enemy and not strolling along in a leisurely manner, it might look more menacing. If he wasn't green, more so. But as it is...

Yes but then it wasnt glamor. It was a dark, sexy, seductive feel; with the knowledge that under neath that Image was a horrible bloodthirsty monster, literaly could turn into a monster... and rip you in half.
Please regail us with tails of who in your opinion are badass, grimdark, LOOKING special characters?

Lucius the Eternal gets my vote. More "creepy guy sticking his tongue out at you like he wants a taste of that delicious milkshake" than "badass," but IMO it fits the GrimDark bill.
Also, anyone with a helmet inevitably looks way more badass than anyone without one, with the exception of a few IG special characters (Straken and Harker spring readily to mind). For example, Ahriman? Looks badass. Abaddon? Looks like a tool.
However, Blood Angels are largely exempt from this due to those silly-looking masks they wear in lieu of helmets.
But this is just Space Marines. Most Space Marines look bad.
Ask me about Orks sometime.

Orks are silly and look silly IMO. Any Warboss with a power klaw looks like he will injure himself more than the enemy with it since he will club himself in the head. Harker does cool however. Straken looks malformed though maybe I just have a bad model of him.
Lucius just looks gross and not badass to me. A good model is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

I'd say that Kharn the betrayer was pretty cool, too, given the age of the model. I'm still not sure what his objection to simply replacing the armour on his right arm is, though.
