Come on now! Only the Sanguinor guard and the Sanguinor have shiney, sorry sparkely nipples they are meant to be angelic and they are supposed to emulate Sanguinius, which they do quite well. The deathcompany on the other hand look terrifing they dont look like a bunch of pansies.

I care not for blood angels, I do however care for the OP's list of 'good' vampire movies. Van hellsing was bad and no Near Dark? That's a gem I tell you!

Near Dark was far better than Lost Boys.

Agreed, why did IT not make the list?

I also care little for BA, but I also care little for DA, UM, SW, BT and spiky-bad-marines.

Why crossmatch the vampire marines with Twilight?

Come on now, that's obvious. They are the vamps of the moment. The BA of Mephiston's vintage (the model) were more Stoker's Dracula (the armour of Mephiston is meant to be reminiscent of Dracula's armour in that movie). Vamps were more badass back then. These days, not so much. If Jes Goodwin ever gets to resculpt MeFabio, he might get a more grimdark version.

BA are also meant to embody the renaissance feel and look as well as the Romanesque. That they will be the "pretty, pretty boys" as a result of this is a side-effect.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I still stand behind my theory that the sanguinary guard and some of the new blood angels models are designed to attract female players. I do agree that Eldar are pretty as well, however, in my opinion the most beautiful model is Saint Celestine.

Mephiston on jetbike?

But seriously, mephiston is a pretty terrible model, I personally think he would look a lot more menacing with a helmet.

I have to agree, Saint Celestine is one of my favorite GW sculpts. My favorite is probably a two-way tie between her and this guy:

Now if more of GW's 40k sculpts were based around the "Khorne Chaos Lord on Juggernaut" school of thought, we'd have a lot more beautifully badass sculpts.

Eye of Terror... I think

Yes i did forget Near Dark, I also have soft spot for From Dusk Till Dawn just for the cheesy comedy of it all.

Agreed ont the khorne lord, hands down the most badass looking model GW makes IMO.

Andrewm9- I was talking to SaintHazard with the second remark, sorry for the confusion.

Well this thread has certainly changed my view on the blood angels. Perhaps because I go at things with an open mind but I see most of you people are right. GW could have done something great with this army and made them the Grim dark space draculas they could have been. But instead chose the tragic hero emo pretty vampire theme.

Really I think it was for balance. How could they have pulled off the bloodthirsty monster/Creature of the night theme without making them chaos? They gaurd there hidden thirst like a secret? DA already has enough secret grim darkness for the whole imperium. Really this doesnt change my take on my flesh tearers. I love my grim dark, bloodthirsty rage machines that fight for the good guys blood god. But I degress... GW you suck for making recent BA fluff blow.

The "pretty boy vampire" thing is fairly recent. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they did it to capitalize on the popularity of Twilight.

To be fair, the Flesh Tearers avoid the whole "pretty boy vampire" aesthetic pretty well. It's a shame Gabriel Seth is one of the more lackluster HQ choices in the BA codex.

^Agreed.
He is unique in the army background wise and model wise. Shame for the rules though.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Ditto on both accounts. While I'm trying to make my flesh Tearers as fluffy as possible, using gabriels rules just arent worth it. Not into the whole "looking good and fluffy losing" thing. Prolly use a counts as thing for dante or asswrath.
