I've a box of Tomb Kings skeletons that I don;t really want any more; they were a bit of an impulse buy, and I've only built a handful of models from it. I was thinking of keeping some skulls and bits and pieces, but I'm sure that I can let you have the majority of the swords/shields etc if you want? Assuming postage to the US isn't prohibitively expensive. PM me if you're interested...

Interesting. Though your latest batch of photos does need some better lighting, the figures look very dark from the front, as they are so backlit.

Currently, the chapter is called Aksari. However, this might change to become the name of the PDF. I'd like to hear your ideas, though.

EDIT: Yeah those photos are cruddy. Using flash obliterates it with saturation. Going to see about getting some better positioning on that light. I'm sitting in a sea of damn lamps this room is designed so bad.

I like the colour scheme, you should do some highlighting and use washes on creases where the armour meets with other armour.

Agreed on the washes. I think a watered down sepia wash should do the trick, without darkening the armor badly enough that I have to repaint it. I'm not usually the type to spend a lot of time on troop choices, or really any model that has to be done in large numbers. You should have seen my old guard figures; it was terrible.

I was thinking either
The Knights of Kemhet
or
The Sons of Osiris, a veriant on this could be The Sons of Ausar (Osiris' name in egyption)

I have access to many Egyption Mythology referances so if you need anything, just ask.

I like your scheme, a nice brown wash or some quickshade from the army painter line would really make them stand out. Have you designed a chapter symbol?

I have not done a chapter symbol, but I was thinking some variation on the Eye of Ra if that's not already taken in the 'verse somewhere. I draw like a dead horse :/

Fox: I like the Sons of Ausar; might have to think it over.

Ummm yea, it's taken. Eye of Horus... Chaos Undivided. Any Eye of Ra would seem way to chaos-y now, IMO.

How about the illuminati symbols?

Love the scheme, the turquoise is a good color, and its nice to see an army not obsessed with grimdark.

I think the fluff should definitely play up the sarcophagi and the resurrection to godhood marines have over their former human lives.

Troszkowsky: Thanks. I had forgotten about the Chaos Eye.

Hordini: Because I have the fail at drawing :/ Also, Marines are the angels of death, not life

narceron: I don't know any illuminati symbols; can you point me in the right direction? Glad you like the scheme; it's certainly interesting to paint. Contrast it to my scout army in the thread "Pictures of my scouts". How do you think I should play up the sarcophagi/resurrection bit? As is in the fluff, Dreadnaughts and Terminators are important aspects as "living again". Dreads for their obvious "living death" condition, and Termies because they are marines too crippled to recover (and too important to lose) but not so badly off that they're stuck into dreads. The common folk worship even the rawest battle brother as a demi god, and higher veterans are worshiped as gods, sometimes openly.

bubber: I'd not seen that, thanks.

This is just my opinion, but I think that gold would look better on the chest emblems. But otherwise, I like what I'm seeing. I think someone already mentioned it, but I think Thousand sons heads on Captains and various other characters would look fantastic. Maybe even on some terminators or Sternguard or something. Use them to mark elite units. Anyways, cool idea and great execution. Keep it up.

If you want I'll try and find a link to my Egyptian DIY chapter on B&C called the Eternal Legion. They have black armor with gold highlights, I made a chapter master in TDA with the 2 vultures from the TK Casket of Souls on his back, a bald head, a skeleton warrior shield as a thunder shield, and a ushabti sword and a cape from the chaos TDA lord. His bodyguard are kind of the same except their heads are from the BA Sanguinary Guard because they look like egyptian death masks. And my Librarian has the masked, egypt beard head from the Empire Wizard sprue.

I will admit I didn't think I would go that deeply; a color scheme and maybe a few khopesh/egypt heads from thousand sons, but I think you certainly win there; I'd love to see your work!

I like your paint scheme but it seems flat to me. Also where did you get that super cool back pack for your tactical marine with missle launcher?

Fox: I did a rather crude job compared to the original, but here's how I did it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ6nqXJhvJ8

It is Vallejo Night Blue, with Magic Blue and Eelctric Blue. Did not do the whole "white dot at the intersections" yet. Turns out OK in the camera, but only so-so in person.

MADLarkin: It does seem flat, unfortunately. I'm thinking a thin Sepia wash over all the tan bits might help. It's basically a darker brown. Do you think this will help or are you talking about a different kind of "flat"?

That Marine back pack is actually from Assault on Black Reach. That whole first squad is the slightly undersized tac marines from that set. I love that pack, as it gives a certian automated feel to the guy. I'm assuming it just passes a missile to his hand. I don't know if it will ever become a regular GW bit, but it should.

Also, small set back in getting the bitz; the guy above who offered to send me some never responded to my query.

I was thinking even a black wash on the armor, but sepia would be a good middle ground.

Hey man for the life of me I can't find the thread I made for my chapter on B&C. I'll try and get the guy I sold them to to take some pics and see if I can find my original IA I wrote for the chapter. Sorry

Judgment: I think Smokey ink is too glossy and oppressive to use. Even when I thinned it with some Acryl Thinner it still stained the base color of the armor and made a messy look in the nooks. My next wash on the armor (command squad, when I can buy them) will be with Skin Wash; I had forgotten it was brown enough that it might just work.

M.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So I have used flesh wash on the Terminators. It's reddish brown (chestnut?) but I think on the whole it looks better than sepia or smoky ink.
