In any case, I think that the GK will get it, but they wont expand it to other chapters, not with the SW and SM not having it, and the BT and DA to be redone yet.

No, because the Stormraven is about a quarter of the size of a Thunderhawk.

It would make sense if my chapter would have a Storm Raven as We rapidly deploy elite Squads behind enemy lines to sow chaos amongst enemy ranks. But we don't use landspeeders.
Anyway on topic.
The Storm Ravens would be cool to have. But I think it should be chapter specific. Like if your ultramarines = no no. If your vanillia chapter with badass squads deploying behind enemy lines, then you get one. Heavy infantry armies like mine need air support!

I think it should stay codex specific. It makes sense that only the assault oriented armys get it. And no matter how well you sell you DIY chapter fluff, it dosent effect anything. Wanna use Stormravens but dont wanna play GKs? Then you get to play BA and lose combat tactics (I still miss that rule). But a plastic kit for this model would be nice.

It seems pretty odd that forge world has never made one. I would have thought it would be one of the first things they'de make.

Yeah, because the original GW Thunderhawk Transporter wasn't an all-metal model more than twice the size of a Land Raider...

The original GW Thunderhawk was all metal, true.

It was also about a third of the size of the current resin Thunderhawk.

Just like Land Raiders and Rhinos of the time were also a bit smaller.

Because the metal Thunderhawk I've seen was roughly the size of a Marauder bomber, which is about a third of the size of a Thunderhawk.

Bear in mind, I'm not just talking about the length or wingspan here. I'm also meaning the carrying compartment and the actual size of the hull.

A Land Raider is 7" long.

So you're saying that the old metal Thunderhawk is shorter than a Land Raider, and only as long as a Rhino with Dozer Blade?

If you have the old C: SM, you can see that simply isn't the case.
