All Howling Griffons I've seen sofar have been awful paintmonsters, but these beauties just took the carpet under my feet! I exspecially like that line between colours and yellow colour itself

Quartered schemes are a to paint so well done for sticking with it dude, same as a lot of people I think, Griffons are one of my fav chapters along with Storm Lords.

LOL yeah the worst thing you can do is get the quarters mixed up( i have abiout three termies and a couple of vechiles i have the pattern back wards, i was tired when i was painting).
But what color red and yellow are you useing ... Im using Reaper Triad of blood ( blood stain, cotted blood, and the highlite i cant remember) and the triad of yellow( margraid yellow, sun yellow, lemon yellow) then i wash them in a orange/brown wash i made up. then ink them in a dark brown to almost black......
How long have you been painting them... I just finished up my 10th company of scouts .
Im making a blood angels army but griffon style with marking of the Blood Griffons /

Blood Griffons! Sound class.

Yea the quaters are crap. Ive had it where I start painting like mad then think, damn I went past the half way point, 5 mins wasted! lol

I use GW paints, Mechite and Iyanden. Really like storm lords aswell. If I could Id do loads of SM chapters. Always liked the idea of doing a sort of dark greyish greenish colour for marines. I started making a Doom Warrior army years and years ago but only had a tactical squad, commander and jump marines then gave them away after only having 1 guy painted but I think sandy coloured marines would be great too. If I was going to do 2 more chapters it would be storm lords and the sandy mixed with greeny greyish.

Severely got whipped in a game today there. 2k against a sister and guard mix and I brought 2 6man terms, (1 with librarian), 2 tac, captain-command-rhino, 10man dev, dread (las miss), and a vindicator.

In turn 4 I had 1 terminator (ass cannon and chain fist), captain and 2 devastators left and my opponent had 54 guys, a tank and 2 half blasted tanks left!?! Seriously whipped but it was his birthday on monday!

Must get another tactical squad and perhaps some attack bikes or sumthing. I spent most of my time running up behind the scant but heavy cover and hiding to get my terminator squads homerd in, (which didnt happen til turn 4 and 5), and my vindicator got popped in turn 2, my dread in turn 3. Those sisters are so hard with their faith points and the guard just sat untouched blasting me with heavy weapons.

Any suggestions where I went wrong?

p.s. the painted veteran died first. Typical, always the way lol.

But keep up the work... check out my Tyranids WIP now ..( that been keep my interest for a while.. i just got tired of painting red and yellow)..lol

Well guys im off to the local gaming club today so I hope to get lots of painting and gaming done depending on how long I have, but I shall take pictures of all so you can see more of the progress and see them in action!

I thought Vanilla meant taking everything without upgrades, but I assume Im wrong and in that case, I do use them as vanilla yes. Still going to take lots of jump infantry, hopefully get some of that painted later! See how it goes.

Vanilla just means fielding a standard Codex Space marine army. It can have any of the upgrades allowed in that codex.

Good luck with both the painting and the gaming, I look forward to the update.

Ahhhh! Left myself late for a brilliant Death Metal gig but this is important too. Did lots of painting on 2 of the command veterans at the club today and theyre not ready for the next series of washes before final details and basing. Enough talk, here they are;

p.s. The bolt pistol broke off!

Hope you like! Still about 26% more work to do.

Looking very sharp there mate. One thing just take a few extra minutes on you marines after assembly to clean up any of the bad mould lines, you don't have to get them all just the big ones really. Other than that like I said very sharp.

He wont be 'armless for long! lol

Nah, as I was saying before, I didnt build the majority of these models, and most of them were painted before I got them. This is purely a painting challenge, tho I have done some modeling bits and pieces, mainly with basing and such like.

I think the next challenge Im going to take up that'l be my work from scratch is the new dark eldar, but thatl be after xmas unfortunately. The guard army Im going to do next should go down well enough tho, because the models are all just undercoated and built fairly well so they shouldnt take long to fix up a bit.

Thats the joys of helping each other out with models!

Should have more updates soon. Just looking to get these guys all painted, based and finished so I can quickly do my Crimson fists to table top standard, then Crack on with some Cadians to my best efforts, then It will be table top Bad Moons and then the Dark Eldar.

Sorry for the overload of my 40k year planner there! lol

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

A post Brexit Wasteland

Assuming you did`nt build that first model but the pose is terrible, pointing his gun a different way that he is looking, and neeling with a lighting claw that appears to be readying to strike. From a tactical point of veiw, a plasma pistol and a claw, really?

Yea, I dont take any of the plasma pistols. I do like to go pretty expensive with my upgrades tho. Im not a tactitian really, Im a painter and a fun gamer but hopefully I get these models looking nice, then I shall be moving on to other armies where I'll get something done and make a proper job of it.

Hey again!

This isnt realy p&m related, but there may be delays in my painting progress due to the league that our local gaming club have started. Ive picked my 750pt force for the first 2 games, and our forces are increasing by 250pts every 2 games until it reaches 2500pts, so Im just getting this 750pt force painted to as far a stage as I can along my painting stages to make them look a best I can for the games. Most of the tactical marines are terrible with about 4 paintjobs beneath them and all sorts of other modeling traumas, but I should get them looking ok enough for what they do.

You may think, 'gosh youve got very little in the way of heavy support there', but Im just going for a different tactic to what I normaly use when I loose games lol. There are many anti-armour tricks up my sleeve but I wont share those yet incase my tactics get noticed by the enemy! Do however give your opinions if you can think of anything youd like to say about the force. We do get to re-write the force completely every time the point value changes so I think I can take a few chances on the early games as no-one gets knocked out, its entirely based on win points and kill points.

The good news is that getting stuck back into these troops will make it quicker to get them finished eventually, and you may see Merceano finished before long!
