Feminism is not about equality. Women have *more* rights than men in most western countries. It's supposed to be about challenging sociatal constructs like why do women earn less than men on average - maybe - just maybe, the dudes perform better at the job than women? Oh no I'm a misogynist!

This isn't generally true, in any of my experiences. To the contrary, I see more active effort to encourage intellectual pursuits among women, probably due in a large part to the pressure for athletic achievements being higher among men.

I think that's the wrong approach...nobody is expected not to aim for good grades, but women sometime feel under pressure to excel in order to prove they are worth more than their looks.

Really? Maybe some girls have men throwing themselves at them all the time but it doesn't apply to all by a long way. Some guys ask why all the girls are always taken, and the reason is that they aren't, it's just the handful they they approach are spoken for, there are a lot of single girls that find it just as difficult to find a partner as guy. I tend to dismiss feminist theory as I would the rantings of any group of extremists. I'm all for exchanging ideas, but there are some people that are simply too far outside of rational discourse to bother with talking to(BLAME THE VICTIM!). Just my 2 cents.

They've shown men and women scoring equally in higher education, receiving equivalent performance appraisals, are not equally promoted, guys will tend to rise to management positions much sooner. This is not because men are simply 'better', that's ridiculous. The causes are more to do with childcare, as women will lose several career years in the 20s and 30s and spend a long time playing catch up, and a few industries that remain boy's clubs - the pay differential is largely removed from professions such as law and accounting, but still noticeable in more male dominated professions such as engineering.

Please do some reading on the subject.

Why do women retire earlier than men? Why do women get up to a years Maternity Leave, a large chunk of which is at full pay, where men get a couple of weeks? Why do Professional Women who take Maternity Leave for multiple kids, feel they are as entitled to promotion as a guy who started slightly later, but has actually worked for longer?
