See, I think that's worse than saying nothing. The implication in blaming your units for being overpowered is the admission that you knew they were overpowered and used them anyway just to beat someone. Unless your opponent is just learning the game, better to not blame anything for the loss. If they are still learning the ropes you could maybe take a moment to offer them some advice, but if they're not then it's best to just let it go.

Very simple rule for sportsmanship that will never, ever fail you if you are playing with a mature individual:

You do the same thing at the end of a game, any game, win or lose: shake hands and thank them for the game--even if you or they played horribly or had brutal luck. The party that doesn't do that is the sore one.

If you have to analyze what you're saying for fear of offending the loser, then the loser being sore is the problem. If the above technique doesn't work, you're dealing with a TFG, plain and simple.

Sitting on the roof of my house with a shotgun, and a six pack of beers

that is a great idea, it should be the burden of the loser to say something to break the tension

I don't really consider it a burden to be put on the shoulders of one player or the other. If you play enough games chances are, especially if your new, that at some point you'll get stomped. Most people have been there and most people arn't , so I like to get through the awkwardness because chances are I still had fun (unless you are one of those ) and I want to find out why they think I got stomped.

this is actually a very good idea

...urrrr... I dunno

I tend to end my games with a shake, regardless of the outcome. Fortunately, I've never been in the position where I have just crushed an opponent's army, and so have never had to deal with the awkwardness.

I seldomly table someone because of dice... but when I'm delivering punishment on somebody, I try to keep tension low throughout the game...

If I said nothing during th game and in the end its like "oh, the dice, you know"... that sounds SO false.

And I agree, always shake hands and thank the game... even when you would like to rip the opponents head off due to a nasty game

Just don't gloat, don't mock, don't be condescending (saying it was all luck, or that they'll have a chance next time).

Be polite, thank them for the game, give tips only if they ask.

There's always going to be a sore looser that gets pissed off at anything you do. But, that's not your fault.

Give them a papercut, and proceed to liberally sprinkle with Lemon Juice....

Then, when they think it's all over, flip the Table, Mini's and all.

Ask them if in the next game you should wear these to move your minis...

Or, as others have said, Shake hands and say "Good game Sir- Another?"
