I vote for the Stormlord!
I have one for my IG army and love the thing. Plus you really can't be the look of the model.

(TL;DR: Stormlord)
Before you throw away 50 guardsmens lives hear me out.
The gorgon is a nice looking tank, but rear of 10? Its slow, it doesnt have enough fire power to scare anything off, 5 TH/SS termies are going to walk right up to it, hit its front armour with str 8 thunder hammers (therefore hitting rear armour) and blow it and the 50 guardsmen inside of it up in an instant.
The stormlord not only transports more troops than you should be in one place (valkyries and chimeras should have squads of their own) but it puts down epic firepower, WHILE MOVING, and the guard can fire out of it themselves.
So. We have gotten to the objective, instagibbed a couple marines with the megabolter, and now your at the objective. You SOMEHOW find the room to legally deploy 40 infantry from the stormlord. You are sitting on a vital objective.
Lets zoom out and replace the Stormlord with a gorgon. The 40 lasguns down there are now totally without adequate support or area denial.
Put the storm lord back, and only heavy enemy transports (IE land raider) and heavy infantry (obliterators) are going to get near you, and hopefully the guardsmen on the ground will be able to deal with those threats.
STOOOOORM LOOORRRRD!

Gorgons are great for fluff reasons, but the Stormlord is the one with the killy power.
I won't repeat Jaon ( lol at the profile pic ) but the Stormlord with supporting Guardsmen fire can clear an objective (at least dent it) before the fleshy Guardsmen jump out to storm it.
Question: Is there a speed difference or Front AV difference? Don't recall one but for objective grabbing it could swing it in one's favour.
I would say that Stormlord comes out on top, simply for the Vulcan Mega-Bolter and the fact that 20 Guard can fire out as it advances. And aren't Gorgons open-topped?
Chalk one up for the Stormlord!

I don't play as much as I could. I blame society! And ninjas
Wehrkind: "Nah, see he yells the order, and when everyone looks at him and say "What?" he grabs the vox, hits a guy with it and screams "CAN YOU HEAR MY NOW?!" into the mouth piece. Works like a charm "
Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms. |

See, but I don't know what I prefer! I'm very indicisive about this kinda stuff, and will continue to be until I have heard feedback from both parties, analysed carefully, thought about rules, fluff, model, and discussed it with my fellows.

That's my way of thinking. Still not 100%, though.
