For a start up kit into the hobby it's worth it, it contained just about everything needed, except the codexes of the army concerned of course. You could also sell the other army you didnt like or trade it.

Honestly, if you have the money, do something along the lines of this.

AOBR, Ork BF, SM BF, and then you have two armies. Which'll make something near a little over 1k, not ideal, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Orks, Deff Boyz - 3,000 Points
Blood Angels, Mephiston's command - 1,500 Points
Imperial Guard, Cadian 501st - 1,000 Points.

The only models I would think are not really worth it in AoBR is the Dread and the Captain. Both are really bland and I've never found a proper use for that Multi-melta. Ork Boyz basically come with what you'd give them anyways, and a bit of carving or scrounging for missile bitz can give you all the options you want. Same goes for the Nobz. The Warboss also comes with a pretty awesome Power Klaw and can be converted into a Big Mek pretty easily, or a Warboss on Bike by mixing parts with one of the Deffkoptas.

On the Space Marine Side, that tactical squad is basically what most people take anyways, bar the plasma gun (which you can get some online and the total cost will still be cheaper than a Battle Force Tactical. The Terminators are pretty standard fare. If you have other terminator bitz you can easily get Cyclone terminators by kitbashing them with AoBR termies. I myself have done a whole squad of Plague Termies (with two armed with Power weapons), a Chaplain and Librarian all using the AoBR termies as a base.

MM on dreds is insanely useful. at least for my GKs.

you can sell the MM arm to someone who wants one(any Salamander player will want it)

it is a nice option, and it's the stock option so if your tight on points it can be nice to have.

I like the MM on the Dread. The only problem is that the hole for the AoBR MM is too small for a normal dread. So you either need to do some cutting, or make the other weapon arms fit on your AoBR dread. I don't like either option.

I personally like giving Dreads Assault Cannons, but alot of people swear by the MM so I guess that's worth it too. It just comes down on the captain then, and you can easily convert him (I think he'd work perfectly as a Marneus Calgar in Artificer armor if you give him some converted Gauntlets of Ultramar).

I got mine free(christmas), its worth the price though. I don't like the marines, have a look at the eye lenses on the tactical marines, some are all lopsided.
