The Achilles can join the ranks of the Helios as one of the most confused tanks in the game. It has guns that need to be at 12" to be effective... but has a 60" siege weapon... yet can carry troops... but can't really fire its guns if it moves the troops into position... and the troops can't assault out of it as it lacks the frontal ramp.
All for three- hundred points.
Oh God what a mess...
Nice model though. Interesting to see it painted in the Minotaur colour-scheme.

Yeah, it is a bit gak, isn't it. Then again, GW has always followed the Cyberpunk golden rule, "Style before substance". I like that even their writers couldn't think of any scenario where this mongrel tank would be useful, handily saying that it was designed to counter a threat nobody remembers anymore.

Its a pillbox with arty that sits on an objective with troops in it.
That's not too confused.
When the enemy moves up with their mech+troops, you shoot it with the sponsons.
It is expensive though.

I was thinking use the Thunderfire shells to lock the enemy units down while driving forward (at full speed thanks to the machine spirit) to use the bunker busters on the sponsons?
Makes some sense if you imagine needing to break past a bastion line or some such, plus it can weather the fire of the defenders better then almost anything. No fear of getting up close and melta-y like normal land raiders either.

It is a bit odd. But not if you think of it as some kind of Razorback-esque Fire Support vehicle for an Assault or Tactical Squad in a cityfight.

Otherwise I think it's a nice looking model with some funky rules. I don't mind the mixed weaponry, transport capacity or cost, it's that they gave the freakin' thing living metal! Jesus. It's not so much a powerful in-game model, just VERY tough and not the kind of thing you want to go anywhere near.
Then again, since when was the point of FW it's rules? We all love 'em for their lovely models. Which they've just produced. Less whining, more drooling I say.

The only thing I don't like about that Ironclad is the busy mess up top with the HK, Frag Assault Launchers & Auto-Launchers. It's too many little mini-launchers sitting up top.

That is what caught my eye - the paint scheme. Last time we saw a strange, somewhat unfamiliar color scheme, it was heralding the Astral Claws new colors. Is this going to be the new Minotaurs color scheme? Most likely given the symbol on it. Thankfully, that means they retired that godawful abomination GW has for them - yellow/red stripes. Hideous!
Also, did anyone else catch the part about reducing (or subtracting) by -1? So that would be: (Result) - (-1)? So, (Result) + 1?

What really gets me about the achilles is that it can actually fire all its weapons if it moves 6" or less.
How???
Well the thunder fire cannon can be fired as a defensive weapon with its tremor shot at strength 4. Then you have one multi melta normally and one using the machine spirit!
The only problem with this is that if you wanted to do any damage with those strength 4 blast shots from the thunder fire cannon you would have to aim at infantry which means you would probably be wasting the non-machine spirit melta shot.

I thought the Necron Tomb Stalker was kind of overpowered - now I'll have no problem convincing my friends it isn't, just show them this.
They overpower the test rules everytime.
The plague Hulk was terribly good in the test rules, it's pretty balanced now, that's just one of many.
Sometimes they stay unbalanced but still less than test rules.

...doesn't this rather ignore taking away the two twin lascannon (which I'd rather have) the twin heavy bolter, the capacity to take another multi-melta (not optioned) ..and the transport capacity and assault ramp? (the latter being the Land Raider's biggest asset coupled with its survivability)?, or the whole techmarine you usualy get with the thunderfire? I think the points are still pretty reasonable, if not a little much given its diversified (but reduced) firepower
To be honest, i don't see the problem with this, in fact I think its rather cool, its a varient which is actually a variant rather than that same thing, different gun, it does something else, and I'm not sure I buy the 'muddled' thing either, its clearly a 'forlorn hope' vehicle for an assault, the great big bullet magnet that gets the rest of the force there, built to survive, the thunderfire for supporting fire and keeping the heads of enemy infantry down and the multi-meltas for close in tank/bunker busting ...oh and if your are relying on rinse and repeat meltas, yes you are in trouble i agree, but i don't see killing it as 'impossible' just difficult otherwise for any army, which would apear to be the point.
My opinon tis all, but i like it

The Landraider, well, it would almost be worth fielding one to see the look on your opponents face. I agree though it's a little bit wacko, I mean immune to melta and lance... Your going to need a whole boatload of railguns or lascannons to even stand a chance of scratching the paintwork.
