My son suggested an alternate Dark Eldar HQ model would have been a great choice instead. There's only one Archon model at the moment, a terrific alternate version as a Games Day model would have been epic.

I like the Skaven, he'll go nicely with Spinetail and some of the other special characters.
It's the first 'must have' GD model for me, for a while, if you exclude FW ones

Nice model.

So regardless of whether some people liked it or not, it was obviously the best one put forward at the time. You will never please everyone.......
.......not unless they release Grombrindal as the GD model one year!
Considering how many versions(is it 4 or 5 now?) of Grombrindal they've made over the years for the magazine, do we really need one for Gamesday?
The reason they release a Grombrindal model the subscription is becuase he is the original White Dwarf where the name of the mag comes from. It's something they have done fo years and will continue to do for the forseeable future. Every year of White Dwarf Magazine gets a brand new collectors Grombrindal the White Dwarf which is only avaliable for that year. Come the end of the year the mould is desttroyed (usually by a suitable burly gentlemen) and is never produced again.
As it's usually a very popular model for any GW collectors whether they play 40K,WFB or something else, my point was for GW to release a Grombrindal model for Gamesday as it might appeal to the majority and stop 40K players moaning about fantasy models and vice versa.

I'm well aware of the history, thank you. My point was that there's no need for another one, because they've done so many. I assure you, if we had one released as a GD figure, people would complain about another freaking White Dwarf. As well, considering he only has rules and fluff for Fantasy, how is he appealing to the majority? He'd still be another Fantasy model with no use for 40K. You're on a board about GW games, someone will bitch and moan about it(see the latest White Dwarf subscription model).

Apologies for the Grombrindal lesson, didn't mean for it to come across like a lecture - i'm sure you are well aware of the history behind the model.
My point was simply that the Grombrindal models are usually quite a popular cast, and that whilst he won't have rules for 40K, , most players recognise a special model when they see it. And whilst it would be nearly impossible to please everyone, a model which transcends systems and has fans in both games might be a way of pleasing more people at one time.
Maybe a choice of models is the way forward? One fantasy and one 40K with the attendee getting to choose which would be more relevant to them?

I agree. Adepticon does both every year, I don't see why GW can't.

Because they're not that clever.
Each Games Day should have a Fantasy, 40K and LOTR model available, and people can pick the one they want and buy any others on the day.

Eh, I personally am happy with it. The model is awsome, and I usually buy 10 while I am there. That way 2 for myself 2-3 for friends and the rest for ebay 1 year after .

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

To play Devil's Advocate: If you're a space marine player, how is a 40k ork more relevant than a fantasy chaos warrior?
I'm fine with it. I collect the GD miniatures because of their limited nature, and if they happen to work in one of my armies I get a second one to paint.
