According to the fluff that is what Treekin are!
They possess dead trees.

My take is that is block los!
Me no like the GW Treekin which apart from the (OOP 2nd Ed?) Ariel are the worst models in the Wood Elf inventory.

The Raging Heroes super hero Treekin aren't really to my taste but prefereable to GWs animated firesticks.
imho of course.
As usual caveats about personal taste apply.

hey, just cause I said I liked the GWS one better doesn't mean I particularly love that one, either. I just like the face better. As a whole they are both pretty "eh" and better work has been done.

This is perfect! I was just contemplating what I could do for Eldar Wraithlords (as my Wraithguard are wood elf dryads with all the leaves hacked off and spirit stones added on), and this has answered my need perfectly!! Just need to get some eldar aerials/spirit stones on there, plus appropriate weapons, and I'm set!! THANKS!

I don't know. Hell, I don't even like wood elves. But, I do appreciate another company adding to the competition.

I think the models are ok but at that price i will just make more myself for almost nothing-my entire 2000pt+ army was built for about £1.

Er... ok? So you're saying you would not buy them because they are significantly more expensive than free? See also: anything ever sold for profit.

No, what i am saying is that for what they are (and the number you would want for a decent unit) i feel that, like many minis at the moment they are way too expensive(£5 would be plenty), and so as i have already made several that i have been told are better than the GW model i will make do with some more of these.

I don't really like them tree warriors much :( Would prefer it if they actually looked more like trees. Punchy slogan though 'They're coming'...

I would be all over them if they had some leafs all up in their hair branches, without it they look… not quite right… the six pack I can forgive.

Flight of Dragons > Last Unicorn...

Also, I'm intending to use leaves/static grass and the (quite amazing) poison ivy from The Army Painter for mine.

OOoooo....

My muse just kicked me in the nads and demanded I spend all my money tree dudes with washboard abs and moss spores when you said that... I had a momentary vision of droopy rainforest/swamp moss on all the limbs and it was beautiful... now if I only played fantasy.

Maybe I could dip them in moss milk and just let the stuff grow on them...

Wow... that sounds epicly awesome, to be perfectly honest. A unit or two of those and likewise-designed dryads and such would make for a gorgeous army.

The advertised pic confused me. I thought it was a fire elemental or demon until someone mentioned "tree".

The video shows them unpainted and they look better there. I reckon, with a good paintjob and some fake leaves they could look pretty good.

Here are some Reaper tree dudes. I would much prefer the 1st one...

I find both of those fairly repulsive.

The first is very cartoonish, the second is much like the (IMO) terrible early treemen GW did with the santa beard and comedic proportions.

Heh, those Reaper ones remind me of some of those odd things you get and put on the shelf, like the Piggy characters, deflated cars etc. Seem more like a display cartoony piece than a wargamming model.

As to the Raging Heroes ones, I like them, sadly I don't have a Wood Elf army atm, but If I did, these fella's would be the ones I pick up.

GW ones look too 'bunch of sticks' in movement for my tastes, although I do prefer the classic fantasy style D&D treemen.
So these Treekin replacements would be something I'd be more interested in for certain.

I'd say smoke or corruption demon, but I agree, they do not look like tree or wood creatures.

It reminds me of the Ancients from Warcraft 3. That might not appeal to some people, but at least it looks identifiably tree-like.

I like them.

I'm not a WHFB player but these models look like treeman to me and I would be happy using them if I did play the game.

It's useless to criticise them for being different to the GW or Reaper equivalent.

What would be the point of several competing models which all looked almost the same?

I'm not saying they have to look almost the same, but they all have to look like they're made of wood. To you these look like treemen, but to me they don't.

I think they look entirely like they're made from wood. They are coloured in a rich teak shade.

Strangler fig, Mopani wood, twisted willow etc all follow very organic (well, they are all organic) shapes and unusual colours. I suspect several commenting here that they aren't 'tree like' enough simply need to see them painted in a highly traditional temperate woodland colour with some added leaves and suitable basing to meet their fairly set idea of what it has to look like. (although anyone saying they aren't as good as the ultraforge treeman or those reaper figures simply won't be satisfied as they follow an entirely different aesthetic).

I agree, they dont look like treemen to me either. I do like to see other artists interpretation of a model though, they dont always have to be identical...they are definately unique.

rich tea shade.

Nothing like biscuits

Except teak is that colour after it has been cut?
Would the tree look like that unless the bark has been stripped off an polished.
I guess with the six pack that would be the equivalent to a waxing and oiling?

Not over keen on them at all but each to their own vision.
It's good for people to have the options.

Part of the problem is the name if they were "Guardiens of the Forest" rather than "Tree" then the vine-like body surface would probably be more acceptable to some.
If anyone has seen a crap film called "Swamp Devil" you will get what i mean.
