...they got rid of ZG?
Ohhh feth Blizz, feth'em hard. While I did enjoy WoW when I played I got sick of it. Sounds like it might be interesting again but it's hard to consider going back in after all this time. I've got a level 70 warrior sitting on a server somewhere and I'm not really sure I want to get back in it. Zapping ZG is just... ugh. I loved ZG, one of the best instances and hands down the best looking. I was really looking forward to five manning it with friends just for fun and to farm the raptor mount.

I remember when ZG was first added, it was such a nightmare. Super tough yard trash and morons pulling extra stuff because they were morons. I went back to the game a year ago for a bit, maxed a death knight and went back to ZG and soloed everything up to the raptor mount boss. I could solo everything in MC except ragnaros.
I would have liked to see them make Heroics for all dungeons, even the noob places and turn the old raid dungeons into 5 man heroic places too.. instead of just raising the cap and making new areas so people can forget about the old stuff.
It's good that they redid the whole world with Cataclysm.. but I'm sure when the next expansion comes out (hopefully before we all die in 2012) it'll be the same thing.. only new areas matter, old stuff is forgotten. Guess it can't be helped though, happens in every other game too...

Hmm, while it'd still be a pretty place to visit without the bosses it's kind of meh. They were actually some very fun boss fights. I had a hell of a lot more fun in ZG than I ever did in MC and BWL.

That was one of the things I suggested way, way back in the day when BC was just getting ready to come out. Thing like MC and BWL were getting trivialized already with the upper end raid dungeons even before BC and with the new expansion they'd be utterly pointless, who'd go back to a level 60 raid dungeon to get gear that you could replace with level 61 blues in Outlands? Making them 5 man dungeons would have been a great way to kill some time in the old places. *Sigh* I never did get my Might helm.

Hi, I'm a WoW raid instance. I've got 3 trash mob packs before a boss that drops 4 epic items! Ain't raiding fun! Oh, and you get badges too so that even if you are a terribad you can get damn near top teir raid gear!
Yup, I remember why I stopped playing.
ZG was awesome. Idols for super buffs, uber flasks from said idols, possibility of a rare mount, TONS of different types of enemies, optional bosses that drop FUN (not uber) stuff, possibility of a huge bag dropping (sweet, now tailors just MAKE them!), and of course it was always a gas to bum rush the last guy without killing the animal priests.

This doesn't sound like Blizzard's fault in any shape form or fashion. I used the same PW on my WoW account for 4 years and never once got hacked.

I've had many different passwords, all secure, just in case. I've got licensed Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Malwarebytes, each regularly updated and scans performed daily. I'm IT savvy enough to know how to secure accounts and my PC and not to go to any dodgy websites. The one time I rely on Blizzard to confirm something about a string of suspicious e-mails regarding my battle.net account, they decline to get in touch with me bar an automated response that basicaly says "We got your customer support e-mail, we'll read it if we can be bothered."
I did everything I could on my side, the onus was on them to respond with a simple "Yes, these e-mails are genuine." or "No, these e-mails are fake." yet they decided not to reply at all. That was all they needed to do, but they left it so late that it now doesn't matter.

I am curious,
Did you respond to these suspicious emails?
Did you give them your account info?
If not I fail to see how they could have lead to your sccount being hacked.

You said that you got suspicious emails and that you are angry Blizzard didn't warn you about them.
Like I said, I used the same PW (never once changed it) for 4 solid years and I was never once hacked. I also purchased gold more than once and never had any ill repercussions from it. My guess is that you, like everyone else in my guild that was hacked, did something stupid and paid the price. Again, that's not Blizzard's fault. They have a rock solid security protocol for WoW. I mean seriously....when was the last time you heard about someone speedhacking in WoW?

I have to agree. I've been phished long and hard for my password, and I did fall for one of their emails. That's the only time that my account got 'hacked' and it was totally my fault. As it turns out, Blizard locked it while the hacker was using me to mine Cobalt, so I ended up with something like 400 cobalt ore plus various gems and rarer minerals. Overall, it was a scary but ultimately satisfying experience. I made quite a bit of gold from my hacker.

Basically, any email that warns you about anything regarding your account is fake unless something is actually going on with your account.
" Account selling" emails, fake unless your account is already locked.
" Possibility you have been hacked " fake unless your password has already been changed.
Blizz don't send mails unless something has already happened. If you are getting mails asking you to go to any site, reply, or give any details, they are fake unless you either already cannot login to your account, or can and there are things missing.

It is like comparing a Volkswagen Jetta to a Ferrari.
The new start zones have almost every quest affect the entire world around you. The mechanics are inventive, and the Goblin start experience is riddled with humor. I don't know if they can maintain the quality level outside of the start zone, but my wife and I have been blown away by the early start zone. And we were totally underwhelmed by Burning Crusade.

You can have a boat in a flooded zone in thousand needles, and an underwater seahorse mount in Vashj'ir
The lich king is still around all through the northrend zones and is still available to be raided but is still level 80, not 85.

It's been a awesome week, got first guild 85, so two expac running now I've been first to cap. Did it in two days as well, as I ran with my wife, so her Druid got second.
From there we've already started to gear, and collect the many marks and rep needed.
However also found tme to start my new Worgen, get my Rogue to 81, and start my Horde Rogue into Hyjal.
Found all the new high zones a pleasure to quest through, Uldum was brilliant, as was Twilight Highlands. Although we did have some group phasing issues with a couple of the story phasing in Uldum, but nothing that caused too much of an issue.
I like that Tol Barad isn't going to force folks into a PvP zone if you don't want to and the two dungeons I have run so far have been excellent.
Good times ahead, will be interested in seeing how many of my alts with be 85 by this time next year.

Not sure anyone was suggesting that Mel but thanks for playing.
Oh and other news for those interested in Cataclysm, from watching a guildmate doing archaeology this week, its a mixture of fun, real grind and annoying travel times. Damn you Blizz for putting so many fine rewards in place for doing it.
It's something I'll do on my main I reckon, probably for my Alchemy alt as well for the mount, but thats about it.

Aye, Blizz held their hands up at Blizzcon and admitted you'll have two zones (Outland and Northrend) completely out of whack for a while.
Although they did say its something they plan on correcting in the future.
