Not a fan of the Alpha Legion, they just dont do anything for me. All the intrigue and spying isnt very interesting for a chaos legion. Which is probably why i wasnt a big fan of the Legion HH novel.

World Eaters are disappointing with their focus on KILL BURN MAIM! I prefered Khornates when they were more martial, obsessed with battle and war and not just berserkers.

Feel sorry for the Black Legion, they dont have a chance to defeat PLOT. Unless GW are going to reboot 40K Chaos are never going to get a big win.

Hey at least the Black Legion started 13 crusades. I mean can any other legion top that?

I like 'em all, they all got something interesting to bring to CSM, though Nightlords aren't terribly interesting to me but I don't dislike them enough to classify them as abject failures.

I guess my point was that the other legions didn't even launch that many (as far as I know) at the very least the Black Legion is organized enough to start them.

I voted for Word Bearers. There’s not that much going for the legion except the theme of “we worship Chaos 50% more”. The Primarch/legion also seemed to have the weakest justification for turning traitor. Perhaps if their fluff was fleshed out a bit more (including the other the chaos legions), the poll results would be a little different.

Black Legion is probably the most organised of the Legions. I dare say their loosing streak is more of a case of “GW will never pen the storyline to let them succeed”. As Grimdark the 40k fluff is, loyalists tend to be victorious in most of the stories (AKA a happy ending).

Wrong: They are opposed to the Imperial Fists (hence their rivalry) because the Imperial Fists are in fact masters of building fortresses...

So it's Attack/Defend respectively.

Its a happy ending on a large scale. The Imperium survives but millions/billions die/enslaved/tortured/starve to death.

I would love this poll more if it was a "favorite traitors" one instead-I love the Emperor's children one (I'm a Slaanesh fan, through and through) but don't really take much of a huge interest in any of the others

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Alpha Legion for me.

Mainly because the 'Legion' book in the Horus Heresy was the weakest offer for me. The Genos and Grammaticus were interesting... but every single member of the Alpha Legion was boring and contrived. Their subterfuge and cleverness feels forced - basically they do real obvious and really stupid stuff, but their plot armor mean all the other characters are somewhat oblivious to the whole thing - and pretty much all the interesting part (for example, what does Alpharius say to convince people to join him so wholeheartedly?) are not shown.

I also got really tired of the whole 'someone pulls a gun/blade/what not on a Space Marine and the Marine chuckles and says 'If it was anybody else than you, I'd kill you for that insult''... variant of it are used at least 3 times in that story.

So a bad book pretty much tainted my view of them.

agree. Youve hit the nail on the head there, the least interesting characters were the alpha legion. The most interesting were the genos, and grammaticus and the lucifer black. Its a problem some of the other HH books have, where the rememberancers etc are more human and therefore more interesting than inscrutable fearless SM's.

Cos being constantly told off by your father for wanting to make everyone know how awesome he is isn't a good reason, the word bearers have one of the oldest justifications for their actions. they turned to something that would actually 'love' them.

Becuase if those Legions never joined the Black Legion would screw up in 0.1 Seconds while it generly takes a black crusade to fail in 0.9 Seconds.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

So yeah, daddy issues. He wasn't being told off, he was being told to get off his ass and get something done instead of wasting time on pointless monuments. That's like being pissed at your dad for being annoyed with you failing all your classes because you put "My daddy are the bestest!" for all the test answers.

I think most see it instead as an opportunity for some unmolested looting and pillaging while those black-painted idiots distract the Imperial forces. Then when Abaddon's house of cards begins to inevitably fold, they bail with their spoils.

Okay, so he's a big pansy with daddy issues. We are in agreement here.

There's nothing "proper" about being a codependent, passive-aggressive tool.

I voted word bearers, whilst I'm quite willing to desecrate the iconography of the black legion the word bearers need(ed) something to worship which led them away from the obvious source of hope for humanity that was the emperor.

On a side note, death to the black legion!

Well, I actually cared about Loken or Garro and even Fulgrim's descent into madness was quite interesting.

But none of the Alpha Legion were interesting, if anything there mere presence sucked out the fun out of any 'scene' they were in.

Fair enough. Would you agree that part of the reason people like loken garro and even iuze kruze the half (i really dont remember how to spell his name) were so interesting was because they interacted with the humans?
A lot of the SM's are boring. but i dont include the primarchs, they are interesting because of their status.
