I like painting the grass on my models with Snot Green / Scorpion Green / Sunburst Yellow , I think it looks a lot better than the plain grass...
But it's my point of view...

About two to three or five touch-ups needed after editing the pics. The top half will be a piece of cake.

Well, for my minis it would be too bright.
But here, it matches your vibrant colours & style, so no worries!! The golden parts are nice too!

Thanks much....and maybe the colors are a bit on the brighter side because I am a hack photographer....
I understand what you are saying though, different ways we see colors. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok sports fans the overtime period begins at 2130hrs CST. That is when the kids are going to bed and I will be finishing Master Mannfred.... thanks to everyone who took a peek and especially those that took a few moments to comment. I really appreciate it. Hopefully I will be in bed before 0100hrs, that is my goal. Well, getting it done is the real goal, trying to get some rack time is a bonus.

Many apologies but as this is a hobby, RL takes precedent. My daughter was surprised to see Mannfred under the Christmas tree. Please, feedback is important so I can improve or alter my technique as needed. Thank you all and Happy New Year! The next if the large based zombie scene.

Merry Xmas!!!
The mini is really nice in itself, you managed to avoid adding too many colours.
On the small things to improve :
- the highlights on the robe / horse skin / souls seem a bit too simple. For instance, for the robe it seems like 1 layer of Enchanted Blue, 1 highlight of Ice Blue. I know you were short on time, but maybe building up the highlight with another step or two would add a lot. Plus, add a tiny, final highlight with a bright colour to make them stand out!
- some more shading on the bone parts : they seem to be detailed enough to allow for great variations in depth, so another was or two on their surface would add a lot as well...
- the face is really nice, and "lively", so to say, but did you paint his lips black?
Hope the present was welcome, it's a nice piece!

The mouth on this model is a bit goofy, the fangs were emphasized not much else, that is why I did the blood running out of the mouth. Yes, I need to do more layering on the robes, I did use skull white for the edge highlights, guess I need to bring it up a notch. Thanks Y
@S thanks for the kind words she loved it.

Finishing Mannfred gave me a bit of a shot to the arm and I became inspired to do the quad fill zombie base scene. I plan on using it for the middle of the regiment/horde. I played around with some sculpey oven cure clay, last month. I sculpted 10 flat slats 6 of them pointed at one end. My idea was to do an old wooden dilapidated fence with a cross wooden headstone and stones outlining the grave. The first three pictures will show that. Its primed black and ready to go.
I consulted with the army general and explained what the large base was for and base scene to fill with four zombies. She looked at me with pure joy and said "awesome dad, can we make them really creepy?" Who can say no to daddy's little girl......
She found the stocks at the Bristol Faire in WI this summer fascinating along with the iron maiden, the rack etc,. but we agreed that the stocks would be more practical.
.060" styrene sheet would form the stock. The last five pics show each step: 1. Drew the guide lines and holes. 2. Dremeled the holes. Same sized bit, but I ticked up the rpms a bit and widen the middle hole using the drill as a makeshift grinder. (don't yell about misuse of a tool) 3. Used a cutting wheel to make the three cuts. NOTE- I used a cutting wheel made for plastic. The thickness of the blade threw off the cut a bit. If you want to use a razor saw for a thinner cut and skip the next step that is your choice. 4. Circular filed the rounded cuts. Had to direct the file a bit to give back a more defined circular shape that the saw took away. 5. Flat filed the parts that touch on the two halves.
Wah Lah simple stock.

I wish I would have found this thread earlier. Your zombie skin tones are great, same with the Von Carstein you've so sneakily given your daughter.

Wow, the base is really nice, but I'm afraid it will be hard to put 4 Zombie on it... But since it's a 4-man base size, I guess you wouldn't have any problem with putting only 3 of them...
Or just have a zombie head coming out of the tomb?
Good job anyway, and the stock is nice as well... but, have you considered buying a few Empire Flagellants? They are naturally "creepy", and would add some nice details to your zombies (as well as having a ready-to-go stock ha ha)...

@epy, thanks I want to give each zombie a unique look hence the differing skin tones.
@bunny, thanks for the kind words, I have much room for improvement. Since I got into this late in life I need to catch up. And YES, your opinion is very valuable to me, so thank you for the positive feedback. I am my own harshest critic but need an outside eye to help me improve.
@Y, no problems mate , we want the best for people so they continue the hobby/gaming/collecting/painting&modeling or whatever reason we jumped into this with both feet....
It will be a bit crowded on the base, but I am going to try differing levels of height and/or a connection with a central figure. Probably my zombie in bondage.
