Lone wolves dont enjoy the company of others. Kharn doesnt really care whether he has buddies or not, he's just going to take skulls. More Ragnar than Lone Wolf I say.

PMSL.

With random quotes of "I AM NOT YOUR BOOT LICK" thrown in. Lol I can see it now.

Gonna have to write three army lists now. One for Logan, one for Ragnar and one for when I don't want to use either. :-s damn the futile resistance against kool side projects.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Make that four as the army would be useable under Codex CSM too.

For those worrying how to have a rune priest in their "Worldeater army" consider the marine is wielding a demon weapon that is a giant hammer, bending the demon to his will to crack the earth open *Jaws* smash around him *thunderclap* and er....not sure about the others but working on it!

Bro Julian - you're thinking of the previous to 3.5 ed codex, where iron warriors were allowed 0-1 Bezerkers. They have a very definite hook to the two working, but to make it "fluffy" you're then on an IW-led army with WE support, not the other way around.

Kharne as Ragnar is good. Logan for troop Wolf Guard (even as termis) means you can have frost axe armed wolf guard as Bezerker Chosen a la Chaos 3.5ed.

You can make some awesome looking armies with it.

He's called Kharn the Betrayer. I think his buddies care if they're his buddies or not.

According to the fluff, Kharn was Angron's guy to keep the primarch sane. WTF??? Kharn and sane, the biggest oxymoron, since Chaos Codex 4th ed and good.

I like the Runepriest idea, but not fluffy for me.

Totally dig the Logan idea and we have the perfect model for a khornate one - Zhufor. He's practically armed with the same stuff.

Errrrrrm...

How does this work???

I actually play Khorne Legionnaires as a proxying army. It works pretty well, too.

Grey Hunters as Legionnaires. (I use squads of 8 for that added kick of fluffiness)

Wolf Lord as Chaos Lord

TWC as Legionnaires riding Juggernauts (I like to use squads of 4, or 3 and then a Lord riding a Juggernaut)

Long Fangs as Khornate Devastators (in 1500 I use 2 squads of 4)

Wolf Guard as Chosen (again, squads of 8 or 7 with a Lord)

The Battle Leader is a good Aspiring Champion

Wolf Priest is a good Berserker captain or something to that effect

Lone Wolves are good lone Berserkers. With MotW they function as great Spawn.

Blood Claws=Berserkers

Fenrisian Wolves=Chaos Hounds

Etc, etc

Note that I don't use Rune Priests. There's no way for them to be fluffy in a World Eaters army, especially since World Eaters librarians just function as people who fight and write down the kill counts of their brethren

@vladsimpaler

I don't mean to take anything away from your army, I'm sure you have some good reasons for some of your unit choices.

But how do you justify taking Long Fangs and Grey Hunter proxies???

Is your army pre-heresy???

P - at the time of the Heresy Kharn was known as the "level headed" (or similar) - he was cool and calm, and if you read the short stories was the one who finally calmed Angrons murderous rage - eventually, after having the snot beaten out of him.

The events of the Heresy led to his name. He went a bit nuts...

Actually, while Space Wolves are a good idea, has anyone tried Blood Angels???

Kharn - Seth.
Chosen Berzerkers - Death Company.
Champions of Khorne - Sanguinary Priests.
Khornate CC Dreads - Furioso.
Berzerkers - Ass Marines without Jump Packs (mounted in Drop Pods for fluff :-) )

Add other units to taste.

Radiohazard mentioned using Mephiston as Angron. Not sure how that would work, but the theory is sound.

I run my zerkers as blood angels. I always figured there was a pretty thin line seperating your average blood angel trooper from a zerker anyway. all this fixation on blood and rage....... really I think half the chapter has already gone over to khorne....... all this stuff about black rage and red thirst is what we, in the 3rd millenium, refer to as "spin"

There we go. : )

@ Puscifer- My army is actually based off of the Slaves to Darkness World Eaters army. (Hence the Devastators)
The Grey Hunter proxies work because originally, the World Eaters legionnaires had a bolt pistol, chainsword, and bolter. Much like the Grey Hunters, even the standard legionnaire is brutal in close combat. (This is all RT fluff; mind you!)

And honestly, my army is a World Eaters warband. You can read about them here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/290177.page

It's an alternate history where the traitor legions are loyalist and the loyalist legions are traitors.
Ex) Khronate space wolves, Nurglic blood angels, necron iron hands, malal-worshiping salamanders, technologically-advanced ultramarines, etc.

Its reasonably effective. I use the DOA army, 4 assault squads with melta weapons, 6 land speeders with multi meltas and heavy flamers, 3 priests, 2 librarians, everyone has a jump pack. they're pretty rough on the charge but they have issues with power weapons. blood angels are kind of lacking in the invulnerable saves department imo. but no one ever complains about the counts as.... I mean they're both red right? I have some blood angels bits on my berserkers to drive the point home.... because alot of them are ex-blood angels. AF

@ Vladsimpaler, fair play dude. Great idea.

@ Klawz, outstanding stuff. Gonna read up a bit more on it.

Would you guys allow a player to use Mephiston's rules with a suitable Angron proxy???

I don't see anything wrong with it myself.

Or they could be a company of WE just emerged from the warp. In all reality, is fluff really all that important when the Codex Chaos Marines has no real outlet for legion based armies anyway? ie-Raptors are horribad but using the BA codex might actually get you closer to what the WE were all about.

At least in the olden times like when I bought the Space Marine epic scale game, people were bound by their available models and imagination rather than codices that are rarely balanced anyway.

I think the reason this guy used khorne as SWs is because SWs are pretty much Chaos of 3rd edition, you know before they took all customizing options away from chaos.

He probably played khorne in 3rd edition then when chaos got their ccrappy 4th edition codex he switched to SWs so he could pretty much have the same army

Chaos through and through

I think I'm going to go with a Blood Angel variant to World Eaters as opposed to Space Wolves.

I prefer the rules and fluff as they portray the World Eaters as psychotic butchers more than the Space Wolves.

I've started work on an "Angron" in place of Mephiston.

I'm thinking of using the Khorne icon bearers as Sanguinary Priests, any thoughts???

I think SW would better represent pre-heresy WE while BA would do post-heresy WE well.
