I read somewhere that a 40k player took a Space Wolf Army, but used Khornate models.

I'm not sure how he did this, but it sounds very interesting.

All I know is that there was something about Juggernauts used as TWC???

This is what you call poxying.

When someone uses the non standard model to represent a different one (a proxy if you will).
This is usually done because (at least in the case of Space Wolves and often Blood Angels) they like the fluff behind one army, but the power behind the other.

But I do really like the idea of using Juggernauts as TWC.

The concept is definately there...

That Khorne Terminator Lord from FW as Logan.
Juggernauts as TWC.
Berzerkers as Troop Choice Wolf Guard.
Berzerker Terminators as Troops choice Wolf Guard.

All you need is some Legion specific Anti-Tank and you're good to go.

This appeals to me greatly.

Since I hear the SW's are the most OP codex, and Khorne models are some of my favorites...

Damn it 40k general discussion! You have started yet ANOTHER side project!

I think it was "Black Matt" not 100% sure he did it as a commission project IIRC and played it at a GT to get some recognition

Same here...

It's a good thing I have only purchased Abaddon for my Chaos Army, which isn't a bad thing as it is my favourite model and character/story of all time and I could really do with a nicely painted tribute to it.

In addition to being very powerful SW fits with the Chaos Space Marine (especially Khorne) mentality very well. Hard blocks of ferocious troops that can charge into CC very well combined with an overall assaulty nature (and the proferation of axes) means they lend themselves very well to a Khornate force.

been working on it for a while.

For those of you thinking of taking juggers and making marine riders, the Chaos Knight from WHFB lower bodies make great pieces to connect the torsos. Just green stuff a saddle to help it fit.

Not a bad price for the parts you need and you get some good head parts for the marines and Stormshields.

Thing is, what else would you put in the army to make it more viable, but still within the Khornate World Eater Ethos???

IE No Psykers, No Heavy Weapons Squads.

As an owner of a Khornate heavy Black legion force, I’ve been thinking about making the codex jump for a while now. My justification is not so that I can take cheesy options like JOTWW and TWC but due to the fact that building an identical counts as list using the SW codex works out significantly cheaper.

Also, Juggernaught TWC = epic.
especially with this dude

Unless my next buy is a bunch of SM stuff, I'll probably buy a SW codex, and that Lord on Juggernaut.

That lord would also be perfect for a Canis Count-as.

rides a big wolve, and is absolutely badass in close combat (has Lightning Claws though, so some conversions will be needed).

You'd struggle to justify Long Fangs in your army. Perhaps instead do something (gasp) different and take Vindicators instead, as they fit the World Eater ethos pretty nicely.

Alternatively you could do a World Eater army with an Alpha Legion/Black Legion contingent to allow you to include 'Havocs' and 'Sorcerors' in your army.

The trick with proxying a force is that you have to maintain the theme of the army first and foremost. You won’t be able to use un-fluffy units such as Long Fangs or Rune Priests. This being said, the SW has a good selection of units so you could use dreads, preds, LRs or vindicators to fill out your heavy support slots.

For someone wanting to desperately use these units, they could run an allied warband instead with Grey Hunters proxying Black Legion, Long Fangs proxying Black Legion or Iron Warriors, Rune Priests proxying Thousand Sons and Wolf Priests proxying Word Bearers.

As long you’re not too over zealous, you should be alright if you chose to run an allied warband.

I'd be inclined to use Kharn as either a WGBL or Lone Wolf.

As for anti tank choices, Vindicators get my vote, as do Dual Twin AC Dreads for transport popping.

Why a WGBL?
I could understand using him as a Lone Wolf but Kharns rules and fluff support him being used as a proxy for Ragnar.
Vindicator is probably the most awesome choice for anti-tank.

As for Logan/Zhufor, is he auto include???

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just the model of Kharn for WGBL. Rules wise definately Ragnar. But he is way too expensive.

I’d say Kharn makes a good Ragnar and I have personally made comparisons between them in the past. Ragnar’s ability to make his personal unit have furious charge and D3 attacks on the charge fits very will into the Kharn/World Eaters fluff.

If i couldn't have him as Ragnar i'd have him as a lone wolf.

Looking at it more closely, Kharn could easily be used as Ragnar.

Kharn is to tough to be a lone wolf.... Kharn is just.... Kharn you cannot find a "substitute" for him...

I like the idea.... but i see more the Pre-heresy world eaters rather than chaos ones for using the SW codex...

A suicidal mad man ready to charge into enemy lines with little more than a pointed stick? Sounds like both Kharn and a lone wolf to me.

The 3rd ed (?) Chaos codex (when we had legion specific rules) said Iron Warriors armies often used Khorne Berserkers to charge in once enemy walls were breached, one unit of 'zerkers was the only marked unit allowed in their army.
I'd say it's fitting to make any supporting troops Iron Warriors

If Kharn were to die in that scenario, Khorne would just resurrect him again and demand he claim more skulls.
