You might be able to buy someone's ticket off them.
Matthias, is that allowed?

Agreed, I'm quite looking forward for the WFB TT. I lucked out and have a great partner for it. Our chances of winning are small, our bartab will be large.

Generally, tickets are not transferable. We will certainly do our best to honor them, provide refunds, event credit, etc. To do otherwise would not be fair to those on the wait list. Not to mention potentially creating a sort of “black market” for the event tickets which could prove problematic in the future.
Let me say this, we understand it sucks. We have long time friends and previous AdeptiCon attendees on some of those wait lists. While we expected registration to be at a faster pace this year we certainly did not expect to fully sell out two of the largest 40k events in the world within a month of registration opening. We did our best to notify and give people as much advance warning as possible.
We also certainly want to be able to accommodate folks. But please understand we have an obligation to those already signed up to provide them with the highest quality event we can provide and there are certain limits to formats that are unavoidable. While some things are potentially solvable space, terrain, and staff. Other aspects are more problematic.
Phazael - I would recommend getting your badge sooner rather than later. We will be crossing the 1000 badge mark in short order, that is the official limit for the full AdeptiCon swag bag. As for the WFB events themselves it appears most of have 40+ tickets remaining. I would think you have a bit yet but hard to tell. WFB registration has been strong. I would expect the WFB Championship to sell out first and once larger events get to @20 tickets we tend to see a run on them. So keep an eye on the available tickets and you will have a pretty good idea.

I'd love to see the WHFB TT grow to rival the 40k version. It'd have to start with 4-man teams; the metagame effects alone are always a fun part of the team planning. I guess it'd have to take over Friday, but Adepticon has always tilted towards 40k, and the revamp of the Championships pretty much precludes a really big WHFB Friday event. It's also really hard to travel (on an airplane) with both a 40k and a Fantasy army. Next year, I might have to look into some sort of "ship ahead" service. But letting my minis out of my control is always scary.

Unless, AdeptiCon moved to a true 4-Day format. Imagine the possibilities. : )

Skip 4 days, and go straight to a full-week event!
For me, it's already a 4 day event (arrive Thursday, leave Monday). Sunday got so much more pleasant once I gave up on trying to get home that night.

I played against two Ork armies and two SM armies in Gladiator last year, and only one of them had any FW stuff (one of the marines had a Landraider variant). I think on average you'll run into a titan or something in one, maybe two games. It really was a lot of fun.

guess I am looking for a team to join then and I'm gonna sign upfor gladiator tomorrow! Maybe next time I will make the Championships, I am going to the Battle for Stones River too, as long as schedules don't conflict... I will stay on the reserve waiting list for now........
but what if, on the day of, someone doesn't show or make it who was pre-registered? You guys going to open up a slot for those there and ready to play or does that slot just go bye bye???

If people don't show, the organizers go down the waiting list.
I was 20-odd places deep on the wait list for the 2010 Championship, and managed to get in. But that was back when it was on Sunday, and a TON of people used to be too exhausted and/or hung over to get up and play early on Sunday.

While borrowing terrain is an option, we still simply have the space limitations. The grand ballroom is going to be 100% full on Friday and Saturday.
Additionally, there is a logistical limit to the event. The collection, collation and recording of game results is a bit insane - not to mention the additional work required in terms of paint and theme judging. 100-110 teams is the current limit for all those factors. Perhaps in 2012...
Should have added '...next year.' on that remark.)
This year Adepticon is pure vacation for me. I'm sure I'll get my fill of driving to chicago with a load of tables when we head out for Games Day this summer.

Last year, I just barely registered in time for several events at Adepticon, and there was a still a large number of people who did not get to register in time. Because of this no doubt, it seems everyone who wanted to go, signed up IMMEDIATELY. I know that's what I did, and I was shocked to see the team tournament fill up in less than a month.
It really is a space issue. The grand hall is FILLED to maximum capacity with 40k players on team tournament Saturday.
If you can, I would still go to Adepticon. It is an absolutely amazing event. I was very skeptical at first, but after going once, I became convinced that Adepticon truly is a must go to event for any wargaming enthusiast.

A few years ago there were tickets available right up until the day of the event. Some of the Chicago locals were always on the fence about going, and if they wanted to go they just bought their tickets at the last moment.
That started to change a couple of years ago, and the 40K events blew up last year. They sold out (I think) in early January and they still had so much demand because it took everyone by surprise that it sold out so early, so what they ended up doing was doubling the size of the initial event and splitting it into two, 110 person events.
So I knew with that type of demand, and the growing reputation of Adepticon as the ultimate US GW convention, that the days of waiting around to make up your mind to see if you want to go is over.
I imagine that if it keeps growing the way it is, it will be like the UK GT heats and the tickets sell out the day that they go on sale.
Every year there will be people that miss the boat and they will learn for next year that if they want to go, they need to purchase their tickets right away.

Reminds me of the US GTs in the late 90's - only chance to get a ticket was to mail the application on the very first day of registration.

Yep. When I went to my first GT- Baltimore 2001, a group of like eight guys from my club Fedex overnighted our entry forms together. Sooooooo tempted by Adepticon, but have learned from these posts that if I want to go I'll need to sign up early!
Still, as I'm interested in the warmahordes and fantasy events only, I guess there's a bit more leeway.
Chances of me attending this year are slim, but I am going to start priming the wife about the idea of going in 2012!!
