It is a pdf but just a list of the units and their new values.

So yes you can just write the new value on the old card.

I've just bought into Dust Tactics too, so you're in good company; I'm still waiting for mine to arrive though.

They will be releasing a pack of new cards that will update the costs of everything released to date, but the pdf from the site is, currently, the main location for the new point values. Operation SeeLowe also has the points values in for the units and missions.

Question for you dust tactics experts. Sustained fire occurs when you use both actions to shoot with the activated model.

Does this mean you can shoot twice and re-roll? Yes or no to answer the questions please.

How I interpeted it was no. The model shoots once and can re-roll any dice that are blank.

Pael,

You fire each of your weapons once with Sustained Fire. consider yourself concentrating and aiming, not shooting twice.

You re-roll every miss. Some details:

Sustained fire works for every weapon
Sustained fire also works for Melee attacks that round for attacker only
sustained fire with laser weapons (such as the Werfer) works like this:

5 lasers are firing. The player rolls 3 hits and two misses.

The 3 hits are rolled again -- gaining one more hit.
That is 4 hits thus far.
The two misses are re-rolled. One hit is secured. That die is rolled again. No more hits.
The squad has nailed 'em with 5 hits total!

hope this helps. Feel fee to post any other questions. Board Game Geek.com is also a great forum for Dust Tactics.

Thanks for the information! What about Jump? Can only jump once per activation? Is it possible to jump twice for four spaces?

My pleasure.

Jump is a one square move, actually. It does mean, however, that you are bypassing units and obstacles on the ground so long as the square center dot is not blocked by buildings, etc.

So when they demonstrate various moves in the rule book where two spaces are covered (like jumping over a unit of troops), it is a 2 action move. The importance is that the Robot is actually able to do it!

Moving corner to corner around walls, the way infantry are allowed to, is only a one space move with the Jump ability. that is one of the key advantages.

This is how we read and play the ability. If we are mistaken, please, someone chime in. Fairly sure it is accurate, however. Just image rocketing over everything, be it one move action or both.

Just got ahold of the big box set today. I didn't know it was that big lots of models and they all look great. Just a little flash here and there but no biggie.

So, I guess it's a good idea to glue the robots? like the US ones, the turrets fall right off, there's no way to anchor them so they can turn right and not fall off? Having some issues with the little guns that go on the german mechs, they don't fit in the hole too good, real tight squeeze. and one of the guns split in 2, like the gun and telescope separated, so I'm gonna have some little repairs to do there.. but the little bitz on the US ones went together fine

I like how the men move, but can you take them apart without ruining them? like, I can see the cables getting in the way when I paint the laser guys.. and the robots I'll have to take apart too if I want to get paint in all the right areas.

Anyone know of any kind of good WWII camo guides? did the men wear camo back then? or mostly just solid colors?

Greetings Necros,

This is how we approached our Robots:

Machine guns -- I carved out, with an exacto, just a bit of extra space in the hole to ease in better and then I glued.

You are right, the US ones were easier. I did break one of my German ones as well, so it happens. The 2nd I carved and glued, and it still holds to this day.

Turrets:

US Robots -- I actually DID NOT attach these with glue. I put a bit of a coin weight on the underside of the turrets for the Pounders so they stay on a bit better. But when transporting I like to simply take them off and store them safely.

German Robots -- I Glued the Ludwig and the Luther in place, but only AFTER painting -- that is a better approach. I glued one before painting, and of course that was more difficult.

When you buy additional robots, however, the box sets that include all weapon variants for that size, I DO NOT recommend gluing any of the weapons. Carve out the niche a bit and use them, mix and match, as you design your force.

A bit of extra care and patience is worth having so many options IMO. They do come off and stay in easily enough once you work in a bit the first time.
Giggidy.

INFANTRY:

Do not take them apart. They are not that difficult to paint.

See this:

Keep the questions coming, we are happy to support the game.

Oh, the other robots come with all the guns? that's cool.

What about the models from dustgame.com? will they come with unit cards and all that stuff? or are they more like just models to collect? Lots of cool looking stuff there that doesn't seem to be the same as what FF is selling on their site, except for a few things.

Models from dustgame.com don't come with unit cards, except for the premium 48 painted models.

Think I was just getting confused with the different Dust sites out there.. So, Fantasy Flight licensed the game world or whatever from that Palo fella and made Dust Tactics? I think my only worry is the 2 different companies end up making products that don't work together. But the FF game has only been out for like a year right? isn't that kinda early for a revision? Good way to get a lot of models between the 2 starters though so I don't mind. I think my biggest worry with any new game is that it won't last, seen too many come and go over the years. But I think the table top rules will really help .. did they ever say when that would be done?

is there any one "official" site for the whole game .. or is it like dust-tactics.com is the main site for the game and dustgame.com = forge world?

The biggest change so far is in the background. Operation SeeLöwe rewrites quite a bit in comparison to the "sourcebook" put out at dustmodels.com. FFG mainly moves the game towards a more family friendly format with removal of Hitler, the SS and all those other swastika related things.

@ Necros:

The Dust universe has been around a long while now, but FFG is partnered with Paolo to make the miniatures game a mass-market worldwide item.

I'd recommend supporting and buying the actual game models from Fantasy Flight. The other models, as cool as they are, really appeal more toward collectors.

There are a lot of releases on the way for Dust Tactics from FFG. You should be able to rapidly expand your army already, with more (including Nazi Zombies) on the horizon very soon.

This is the perfect time to get into the game. Buy the standard starter set now available (or two, if you are wise with deep pockets) and then the new starter, when it is out, will be the perfect supplement. Add a command squad each for both axis and allied troops and you are seriously in business. If you crave more after 2o games or so, there is already Artillery walker options for sale, and I just ordered my Light robots. Snipers boxes are landing soon as well. We are absolutely eating this game for breakfast -- it rocks.

Regarding the more family friendly fluff -- FFG needs to be able to move units for this game (by that I mean sell boxes of product) in Europe as well as the states, and some countries over there will not tolerate fascist imagery for sale on the market. Regardless, the fluff is far from Vanilla -- the weapon names are accurate, and the zombie troops are actually VK injected corpses fresh from the battlefield. This ain't tame stuff, you should be well engaged with the alt-WWII dystopia that is earth in 1947.

Cool, yeah I just finished reading the rules last night.. I like that it's not a textbook like 40k. should be real easy to learn once i finally get to play.. I rarely have time to play anything but I plan to bring it all with me next time and try and get the fellas into it. Since it's still kinda new it seems like it'll be easy to collect pretty much everything without breaking the bank too which is nice. I'm planning to get the new starter set when it's out and then a command squad for each and I figured that will give me a nice sized army for both factions. I think the folks in my group will be more into it if they don't have to invest $600 in a new army and books like with GW stuff.

I actually like the fact that Hitler isn't even mentioned except one little sentence about him getting assassinated by tom cruise. I think having the "regular" nazi's would just make it all too cliche... seems fine just as it is and I can see where FFG is coming from, you can still have your violence and scarey stuff without offending the overly sensitive folks.

I would use, for any information, http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=123

I do not recommend their forums. very clunky.

To get fast answers to questions about rules, post on BoardGameGeek.com in the Dust Tactics discussion forum.

Board game geek's site is neither sticky nor is the search engine friendly. It is not Boolean in design -- one little error and you cannot find the game in question.

Go to Google:

Type "Board game Geek Dust Tactics"

click the first hit -- of the same name

this will take you directly to BGG's arena for Dust Tactics.

Scroll down past all release data, reviews, etc and you will find a small forum link. Click on, "Browse" and you will be able to enter any of the sub forums -- rules, general discussion, etc.

bookmark from there.

rules are answered fairly quickly on that site.

I did some googling and finally found my way to the forum guess they built that site from scratch back in the day before there was forum software you could just download. I also don't care for all the ads all over the place. Dakka is much nicer

Of course Dakka's nicer. What would you expect?

Now we just need to get Dust Tactics popularity up so we can have a separate DT forum section rather than it languishing here in Other

Still waiting for my starter box to arrive though *sad panda*

Maybe for a start we can get Yakface or Legoburner to change the description and add dust tactics instead of starship troopers and at-43

True, both games have very small communities and are probably slowly dieing out. Maybe also add in Warpath?

I think there needs to be a little bit more activity on the DT front here on Dakka before a shuffle takes place.

And more threads as well. We should start a review thread for upcoming product, and tactics threads for each current faction.

kenshin, where in Texas are you? I'm in DFW, I have almost 2 starter sets painted up and been doing painting articles for FFG, but no one to play with...

Well based on the coolness of the minis alone, I am really getting itchy to order some sets. I was thinking of the current starter set and command sets for each side, is that good or do the command sets require some other units to be more useful?

So. Now the tabletop rules have been announced, I've a question for those of you that have played Tactics more than I have.

If we assume the tt rules are as flexible in terms of unit selection, would you say it was worth getting a second copy of the original starter box to double up on the units?

From what I'm seeing, it should be worthwhile to pickup the Revised Starter set for about $80 USD, with whatever discounts you can find.

It has a different set of miniatures than the original set, including what look like light walkers and heavy infantry.

Assuming the rules turn out well for Dust Warfare, that's the route I'll go.
