Time for an update...

The Land raider will be painted up hopefully within these next few weeks. I will be doing it quartered black and white. I just need to go and buy more chaos black and a bigger brush soon.

I have also been scavenging some old minis to make into berzerkers. Besides the two shown earlier I made these:

I was able to put these guys together and get them prepped last night. They may get some white and boltgun metal on them today unless I decided to paint some VC skellies.

I also have 4 more sets of body parts to add to this unit. So I will have a squad of the sacred number 8 but I hope to raise it to eleven to keep everything zen!

As always, thanks for stopping by and C&C is always welcomed!

This color scheme is exactly how I wanted to do my chaos army! I wanted black and white quartered armor with silver/gold accents. Although, my plan is to apply some green and brown washes to make them look incredibly worn and aged. Nice work. I love the Nay'Pal figure.

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

Lord Helmet - "I bet she gives great helmet."

Thanks Element206!

I like the idea of green and brown washes...I may have to check that out. I do want to experiment with painting 'chipped-paint' to add wear on these guys. *for a chaos force, they look really clean.

Thanks shingouki!

I have gotten some work done on the berzerkers.

This is the current state of painting in progress:

I tried to dirty up the armor since they are based on dirt/muddy. Went at it with some scorched brown and devlan mud. *It is not very viewable on the black armored right foot.

Also tried to do some paint chipping:

With a sponge I tried adeptus battlegrey and then paint the line on the bottom with fortress grey.
It's ok but still need to practice this.

and finally a new addition

Repositioned the arm and that was about it. After this, I need to change the poses because this is the third berzerker with chainsword in hand and facing left. Although the poses vary that similarity kills me.

Hope you enjoyed, C&C always welcomed!

They look even better with the extra battle damage!

Join the Imperial Guard. The pay's lousy, the battles fierce and you probably won't ever come back again. BUT you get a lasgun.

Thanks Necanor and Imperial Monkey.

I hope I can get better at it and some other weathering and battle-damage techniques for when I roll out the Land Raider.

Another update, I made the 6th member of the squad.

I was able to salvage another member of what would have been a chosen squad marine (the units I started to make for a SoM kill-team). That is why I have two marines hunched down, originally they were modeled to keep a low-profile in the sense that they would be sneaking around. Fortunately the hunched look was usable for a pose. So I am happy that the mini can continue its service in the name of the Renegade God.

I really want to call this guy Horned Toad and so far he is my favorite. I figure the horns on his armor are for trophies and holding up fresh snacks right up off the battlefield. If I try making a true-scale marine I would like to put a torn up IG torso on the spikes.

One thing I really decided to do to make some of these guys stand out was add a small flesh sheet and stretched face. So far this is the best I could do, I hope to make it look better when I sit down and paint this fella up.

Here are the Berzerkers of Malal as of today. Did a little bit of paint chipping to the two recently painted SoM and decided to make this squad into "pairs" (like Blood Gorgon Bond-Brothers). So that is why they are matched up back to back. I still have two more to make to finish up an 8 man squad (then I am out of bitz :( )

If anyone has a good tutorial or suggestion of painting dead flesh I am all ears! And as always, thanks for stopping by and hope you like what you see!

Double Post with a fresh update!

Awhile ago on GW's site, it showed a Dark Eldar posed on top a falling and more than most likely dying marine (the gorget was covered in blood). I really liked the look and wanted to have a Son of Malice with an epic pose. So I decided to mimic something I saw with a BA jump pack army:

*The weight of the hammer is countered by the weight of the SoM but the little base makes it easier to tip over. So I may trim up the base and with some glue and green stuff attach it to a larger base.

That is really it for now. If I get time during my Easter Break I will paint this and the built berzerkers. I just wonder what I should paint that loyalist victim though...Imperial Fist? Blood Angel? Red Scorpion? Hmmm......

C&C always welcomed as well as suggestions for the victim!

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

@Shingouki: I will shoot you a PM with minor instructions, I apologize for not having any photos though.

Well....

Giving me the silent treatment brother?
...
Not my fault you received three rounds into your back. You should be joyful I didn’t kill you.
...
Still have nothing to say? It is your fault you know, you got in between my boltgun fire and my target.

Speak up anytime you wish to apologize for your behavior. I know my vox is not totally damaged, although there is some static. Damn feedback sounds like some fool hopping around with a jump pack.

As you can kinda see in that pic, I got some paint slapped on the Mini Diorama.

After thinking about the MM, I decided to look up everything I could online about them and then later I started reading Salamander. So far it has been an enjoyable read and it made me want to paint a Marines Malevolent and maybe down the road some Salamanders. So in the first pic was my Test MM, after that you see the current stage of the minis. Just basic colors before trying to add detail.

*paint a yellow on a marine has also inspired me to get back to my Loyalist roots...

I was finally able to make my Hister A'dol MKII

Looking at my original (look at post 1, pic 2) he lacked any character and was a 'copy and paste' of some stereotypical CSM lord in TDA. I wanted my count-as to be on par with the Great Wolf himself since I would be using his rules. So I read some bits about Logan Grimnar, looked at some artwork and minis, and figured out a plan. First off, the weapons lacked luster. I needed a double headed axe and a bolter strapped to a forearm. Well, after some cutting, pinning, and greenstuffing...i made this:

What I came up with was a brawler worthy of leading the Anarchist's Fist.

Hope you like it and C&C would be most welcomed!

A few changes have occurred with the Anarchist's Fist, all Corpse Guard Warriors no longer bear names. Fluff-wise, they are known by titles of the terrible deeds and atrocious acts they have committed.

this coming from an earlier idea i was having on another forum-

"I was thinking that they rid themselves of individuality and become known by their deeds and not their names.

It would be like seeing a faceless warrior wreaking havoc in the battlefield. The memory of what you see becomes how you identify that warrior. You do not fear the sound of their name but the nightmares of their actions haunt you."

And some new stuff :

They were called Reaper and Harvester, the tools of his trade. The dual blades which he had severed arteries, removed limbs, and decapitated his foes. Clad in his armor with such weapons in hands, he was unstoppable.

He moved with the grace his armored allowed him. He knew his armor and his weapons well and had mastered them in his bloody craft. To gain another victory he would draw in close and tear away at his opponent as they met eye to eye.

Each swipe cut the surface of his opponent’s armor. Again and again he removed paint and chips of armor in a flurry of slashes. The sparks putting on a show for the observers, letting them know he was toying with his prey.

Soon, he would draw blood from the soft armored joints of his enemy.

He dodged another blow from this foe’s axe. Such brute weapons lacked finesse. One needed only momentum and the weapon took care of the rest. It also slowed the attack, a matter he would take an advantage from.

Circling around his opponent, he stayed in constant motion while his foe was centered on a single position. If he could, he would have driven him into a corner and strip the opponent the room needed to wield his weapons. Then cut away at him to show his superiority.

Again, he dodged another sweep of the axe, barely making contact with his armor but removing a few trinkets and trophies. That was close, and worse, he did not realize the razor edge of the axe had come for him until the last possible second. Then another sweep of the axe had come to bury itself in his armor.

He leapt back, dodging with his blades.

The impact would have ruined the arm of a mortal. His own enhanced biology and armor struggled to not collapse or shatter. His thoughts raced to determine the ever flowing ebb and flow of battle.

He had no time to draw conclusions as he parried sweep after sweep of the axe’s blades coming for him. Each blow causing a tremor in his arms and his beloved blades had begun to chip. The attack had turned. He was now defending as he was assailed by the onslaught of his opponent.

Finally, his grip had lost the blade in his right hand. It took milliseconds for him to think of his next course of action. It had taken his foe less time to finish this game.

The thrust of an axe’s dull end into his helmet shattered a lens, dented its frame, and forced the armor of his helm onto his flesh and skull. The next hit removed the helm from its clamps and a ramming shoulder guard knocked him from his feet.

The skull was broken, pressure was on his brain, his eye may be salvageable but it was unlikely. He was hasty in his assessment. Before he could raise himself from the decking, the cold bite of metal on metal echoed.

His right hand, it had been severed.
---

The Abhorred looked down, his expressionless helm offering no emotion. He slammed his heel onto the remaining hand of his challenger. The Beast of Fang’s Bite, he was an upstart and sought power, his challenge was not unexpected. The Abhorred brought an axe’s blade between the warrior’s bare chin and the layer of armor that protected his torso.

The one good eye showed defiance and hatred at this defeat. This is not how he planned to die. The humiliation pained him more than his wounds.

Then she laughed, the Voice, and it echoed amongst the throne room where the Anarchist’s Fist had gathered, before the challenge had been issued and accepted. Among the crowd of monsters, her pale and porcelain features was in stark contrast. Her dress would have been the envy of any Imperial royal had it not be torn and tattered. Yet her eyes gave away a hint of a beast among monsters.

Her laughter stopped as The Abhorred withdrew his axe and returned to his throne. Two slaves awaited him, holding out large cloths of red. Each would hold one of his axes and knew full and well that to touch them with their unworthy flesh would mean its components would be lubricated with their blood. They took hold of their master’s weapons and bowed, only to follow him to the throne and take their place at either side.

Many of the assembled warriors looked on in disgust at the beaten veteran. His armor mirrored his lords, where axe marks had cleaved into its plate. He still drew breath, and that is what angered his brothers. None would be claiming his sacred armor of terminator plate.

A hunched creature raced from behind the throne and took the severed hand back to its master. Offering it up, the Abhorred took it and placed it on his arm rest. With the flesh, his intentions were obvious, and the taking of the armored glove even more so. It bore the title of the warrior. If he ever wished to reclaim it, he would have to kill the victor.

The Abhorred would not be replaced. He was unstoppable. He feared no enemy, even to the point of keeping this challenger alive to plot another day. Only pain and death would await those to cross him.

The gathered warriors bowed their heads in recognition. The Abhorred’s message was clear.

and now for the Boss-Man himself:

This is as far as i got with the painting. I am wondering what color to paint the bolters or just leave them black and metallic. I also need to find a better way to paint stone.

Hope you enjoyed, C&C is always welcomed here.

Well I was able to get some work done these last couple of days.
-I got 90% of my LRC primed (by hand)
-Got more paint on 2 Berzerkers
-Started on one of my Wolves
-Made some neat-o wound counters.

New Army shot:

Hopefully in another week, I will have the second squad all put on their bases. Keeping my fingers crossed that my order comes in this week for the CoD floor pack.

Berzerker:

Berzerker:

Sooner or later I will get these up to date with the rest of their squad. Still a few things here and there that need paint but I am happy with them so far.

and last night I decided to sit down and make some wound counters. I decided to use enemy helms as the markers with this thought: the more hits they take the more of their trophies fall off.

Wound Counters:

So we have a Black Legionnaire, a Red Corsair (was going to be a Word Bearer), and a Novamarine.

Hope you liked it!

I'm really enjoying this blog, the marines look great when they're all toghether. Can't decide whether I like the bases or not thought....I think it adds to the sleakness of your marines, but at the same time it blends in alittle to much with their armor. Have you thought about doing anything more on the bases? Adding flock or something?

Damn you the black legion shall be avenged.

But seriously your marines look really good, the guy killing the imperial fist is posed brilliantly and the paintjob on your stuff is looking great.

Just a quick tip here, when you paint you land raider you might want to cover half of it with tape or somthing (you can work it out) and then use white spray or somthing to get the white bits you need. It is a much simpler way to get white over black.

Thanks for the comments!

@Limbo: Which base in particular are you speaking of? Right now I am basing them in conjuction with my fluff/short story of this warband. The berzerkers are fighting in jungle terrain (which I wish I could do better) while the termies are fighting wtithin an urbanized area. I am waiting on a bitz order of a CoD floor pack to come in so I can base my second germie squad before I do anything else with them. When that squad is all done and painted to a certain degree I want to go back and redo the first squad.

I just started basing with sand a little while back, so that is why the first squad has nothing but bare plastic since they were built about a year ago. Now I just hope to get better at it.

@Moonshine: I should invest in the spray cans. I am just not used to them because where I lived in Japan was humid 11 1/2 months of the year. So all my experiences with it haven't been the best. Now that I live Ina dryer region I should give it a shot. If worst comes to worst, I will go old fashioned and use a trusty brush.

One thing I need to figure out is where the centers are in that thing so I can mark it off for a quartered paint scheme.

Seriously give spray a try. it will give you a nice even white coat on that land raider . Just make sure you cover up the side you want black.

Well, I was able to get two more minis built for my Berzerker Squad. I am really happy with my power-fist Skull Champion and I like where I had gotten with my final marine...just wished I did some things differently for his pose.

I really like the pose on this fella very much. I think he is my favorite PA marine I have made yet.

For this guy, I wanted a gunslinger. I know he can't have two pistols but I don't think that will be too much of a problem, its not like he will get an extra shot if I use him. As for his CCW...he has fists of fury when his ammo runs dry!

Good point about the fists...unless he just wanted his enemies to laugh to death. What do you mean by breaking up the white?

---
On Monday I received my floor pack order and got some work done on my terminators.

Many wonder, if the Sons of Malice fight in complete silence, how do they communicate? The use of internal vox channels? Psyker-backed telepathic communication? Use of clicking sounds? Hand gestures?

What many within the ranks of the Holy Inquisition overlook is the overall expressions pass on by the body. This being the perfect example:

What has been analyzed by the brightest and sharpest minds have translated the message of the damned warrior as such: See that guy over there? ***k him and everyone around him!

These bad boys are ready for a basecoat

Well, the black is okay but the white is just too pristine, it needs something, damage would work best, in breaking it up...I like the poses...very menacing.

Btw, can you order just the floor sections from the CoD??

Edit: Scratch that, I've just found out...

I see what you are saying. The white is so very nice and polished in this state that it would put an Ultramarine to shame. I plan to add damage to the plates and everything like I tired on some of the berzerkers. That will be down the road some.

And yep, you can order the floor pack separately.
