Now that I think of it though, I've got this mental image of him running up to the giant manta and being squoshed when it lands him. I wonder if that's one if its attacks?

considering how big it is and the models that come with it it isn't actually to bad a deal money wise.

Depends...Can 300 marines and your anti-aircraft guns take sixteen Long-Barrelled Burst Cannon, six Long-Barrelled Ion Cannon, two Heavy Rail Guns, Missile Pods and battery of Seeker Missiles as well as a Networked Markerlight turret.

The Tau are a cool race apart from their background.

That kind of looks like the paint job you'd see on the side of a van in the 80's. That doesn't make it any less awesome.

Nice paint job! I like this model even more now.

best paint-job i have ever seen on anything. one out of two of the best paint-jobs Ive ever seen.

The second is this guys wraith lord.

He is the god of miniature painting. all his stuff is crazy.

I talked to the Manta's designer about three years ago at one of Forgeworld's open days. He said they'd sold about 25 Mantas, almost all to companies rather than individuals (for game stores, etc). They'd produces a few more Mantas for GW to use in displays and such. I even got to pick one up, and it's bloody heavy! (I only dared lift it a few inches off the table). No base included, I doubt many people would actually use one in a game. Apparently the curve in the wings was the hardest part to sculpt, and because resin is prone to warping, you have to assemble those bits first to ensure you don't assemble the whole lot only to find a bit needs dipping in got water to reshape. They don't make money off them because so many pieces are wasted due to air bubbles, excessive warping etc.

It's one of Forgeworld's prestige items - not designed for people to buy as such, but for people to go 'ooh that's cool, what do they have that's in my price range...'. Similar to supercars made by car companies; they don't make money, there's no immediate economic reason to make them, but they exist to improve brand image.

And while that is amazing freehand on the titan i think i still prefer the manta and wraithlord from the manta guy. But i am a fan of trippy colors and patterns.
